The Deputy General Gu must be Gu Yi.
Since it wasn't Yang Yong, Tianyun felt somewhat relieved, but then he remembered what His Highness had said about Gu Yi's treason and collusion with the enemy.
He nearly killed His Highness, so Tianyun didn't want to save him. Moreover, with war raging, innocent civilians were the ones suffering; too many people had died in this war, and Gu Yi was undeniably responsible!
She curled up contentedly, letting the young soldier untie her. He then lifted her up and said to her gently in a low voice, "Please come with me, young lady."
Even if she doesn't cooperate now, she will be forcibly taken away by these people, so she might as well be pragmatic.
After assessing the situation, Tianyun decided to obediently follow the little soldier.
Whether or not to treat her is entirely up to her.
※※※※
The former lord of Wuwang City has died on the battlefield, and a new lord will be elected to take over all affairs within the city.
Currently, Gu Yi occupies the main room of the city lord's mansion. Although Yang Yong is on equal footing with Gu Yi, his experience and age are the only factors to consider. Based solely on the principle of respecting the elderly, he can only be relegated to a side room.
Tianyun was led to the main room by the young soldier, where he saw Yang Yong standing by the bed with his eyes downcast and his arms crossed.
Four or five military doctors stood in a row, all looking pale and sighing with their heads down: "It's really strange. I've carefully checked General Gu's pulse, and he shows no signs of poisoning. Why is he having such a high fever? I... I don't know either."
The military doctor on the left took over, "I have examined all the meals the general ate recently and found nothing unusual. We can now confirm one thing: the general's condition is not due to poisoning."
Gu Yi was not poisoned, had no wounds, and did not have any symptoms of the epidemic, so why did he develop a high fever?
The atmosphere inside the room was somewhat heavy.
Tianyun was led to the bedside by a young soldier. Yang Yong also saw her, his eyes filled with barely suppressed surprise, as if he were asking her a question—
"How did you get caught again?!"
She was only released for two days, and she was caught again. To be honest, she's really unlucky!
Tianyun blinked at him helplessly, not knowing what to say for a moment.
The two exchanged glances for only a couple of seconds before one of the military doctors, an impatient old man with a missing finger, suspiciously looked Tianyun up and down.
The voice seemed to come from the old man's nasal cavity, "You know medicine?"
Tianyun rubbed his wrists, which were marked with red welts from the ropes, lowered his brows and said humbly, "I know a little bit."
The handsome young soldier stepped aside, but he kept a close eye on her. When he saw her frown uncomfortably, he followed her movement and stared intently at her fair, white wrist.
Unbeknownst to them, this action concealed the fact that the woman had already used her sharp fingernail to puncture a packet of medicine powder in her sleeve pocket, leaving a small amount of powder inside her crescent-shaped fingernail.
Do you know a little bit about it?
Judging from her young age, although she appears quite composed, she probably doesn't even know how to distinguish herbs!
Isn't this ridiculous?
The old man glared at Yang Yong, his beard bristling, and angrily flicked his sleeve, demanding, "General Yang, are you perhaps desperate and grasping at straws, sending a mere novice girl to slap the faces of us old fogies?"
He has been practicing medicine for decades, and even he was helpless against this disease. How much more so for this young girl who is just starting out?
Yang Yong rubbed his nose in frustration. He didn't believe that Miss Shangguan could figure out the cause and actually cure Gu Yi.
They just wanted to use this as an excuse to move her to another place to be detained...
The woodshed was cold and damp, and I was afraid that the young lady's body was too weak to bear it. Moving her to the main room, where there was plenty of charcoal, would be more comfortable.
Now that he had been rebuked by the old military doctor, Yang Yong had no words to refute him, but he still had to continue with his excuse.
He said with a grin, "It wouldn't hurt to let Miss Tianyun take a look. Anyway, the rest of you can't do much right now, can you? More people means more solutions. We can't just watch the deputy general have a high fever and fall into a coma, can we?"
It is an indisputable fact that they were all trapped.
But inviting this obviously clueless little girl over would be the greatest insult to them!
The old man scoffed angrily and said, "This is utterly absurd!"
He turned around and sat down in the rosewood lantern chair, refusing to leave.
Let's see what this little girl can come up with.
The others, though not as strongly as he, were thinking much the same thing the old man had expressed. They thought, "I've been a doctor for most of my life; surely I can't be less capable than a novice young girl?"
Under the watchful eyes of several people, Tianyun felt the pressure increase dramatically. Trying to pull any tricks under their noses would be extremely difficult!
She wiped away non-existent cold sweat from her forehead and first took the pulse of Gu Yi, who was unconscious on the bed.
Several old men sat around a round table, and their skeptical expressions softened slightly when they saw her movements were standardized.
Tianyun pried open his eyelids to examine his pupils, pretending to scrutinize him closely for a long time before turning downwards, opening his mouth to examine him again, and then sprinkling the powder into Gu Yi's mouth.
After a short while, the old men noticed her serious expression and seemed to have discovered the problem.
The old men exchanged bewildered glances, none of them believing she could possess such skill. The old man with the severed finger, feeling somewhat embarrassed, muttered under his breath, "Just putting on a show!"
After taking the pulse, Tianyun already had a good idea of what was going on.
Turning around, she saw several old military doctors staring intently at her. Her heart skipped a beat, thinking that her little action had been discovered, and her voice trembled slightly.
Why do you seniors look at me like that?
The old man with the severed finger narrowed his eyes, his expression filled with deep suspicion. "Have you figured out the cause of the illness?"
Tianyun nodded seriously, her plain little face filled with solemnity.
