Chapter 112 The Gluttonous Winter Flower

Chapter 112 The Gluttonous Winter Flower

Cheng Wanwan had Dashan take all the prey inside.

Two pheasants, four rabbits, and one squirrel had all recently died and were still warm.

The four boys surrounded their prey, their eyes glowing green.

To be honest, this family hasn't eaten meat for a while. The last time they had rabbit meat, the children's mouths watered just thinking about the taste.

Cheng Wanwan hugged Xiao Hei and asked, "Don't you want to go back to your mother?"

Xiao Hei whimpered and burrowed into Cheng Wanwan's arms, obviously unwilling to leave.

"Alright, I saved you and raised you. Consider these a thank-you gift from your mother, along with your food expenses." Cheng Wanwan laughed. "Ergou and Sanniu, hurry up and deliver the goods. Dashan, prepare the prey. Cook two rabbits, stew a pheasant for your wife, and save the other for stewing tomorrow. Clean up the two rabbits and the squirrel and hang them under the eaves to dry. You can eat them later."

Zhao Dashan hurried to get busy.

Zhao Sidan was full of energy to work. When he went to drive the ducks, he told the story of last night in a vivid way.

"You know what? My little black wolf is a wolf, the kind that eats people in the mountains..."

"My family raised Xiao Hei, and he doesn't eat people. His mother sent a lot of pheasants and rabbits to my house. Slurp, we have rabbit meat to eat today."

"I'm not lying. Xiao Hei is really a wolf, a very fierce and ferocious wolf!"

A group of children didn't believe it, so they formed a team to see Xiao Hei.

Xiao Hei hangs out with Da Hei every day, and their expressions and movements make them look just like a dog.

A child picked up Xiao Hei and said nonchalantly, "It's obviously a dog, but you insisted on saying it was a wolf. Zhao Sidan, you are such a boaster."

As he spoke, he loosened his grip, and Little Black fell from his hand.

The little guy rolled on the ground, wincing in pain.

"Woo-hoo—"

It leaned forward and crawled, letting out a low growl.

The children were startled because they also have a dog at home, and dogs don’t bark like that.

If you look closely, Little Black is actually different from Big Black. It has fiercer eyes and black spots on its tail, making it look more wild.

"Woof woof woof!"

Dahei also imitated Xiaohei, crawled down and made a sound.

The children scattered in all directions.

Cheng Wanwan wasn't afraid of this getting out. If the villagers knew there was a wolf in her yard, they would only be more wary and less likely to come looking for trouble.

At noon, Cheng Wanwan served the food.

A pot of pheasant soup was simmered for two hours until the meat was tender.

She deliberately put on a stern face and said, "Your sister-in-law is pregnant and can't eat too much rabbit meat. This chicken soup is specially prepared for your sister-in-law. No one is allowed to eat too much."

Wu Huiniang said anxiously, "Mother, actually I can't drink much..."

"If you can't finish it this meal, save it for the afternoon. If you can't finish it in the afternoon, save it for the evening. It's okay if you're hungry, but you can't let the child starve." Cheng Wanwan brought a pot of rabbit meat and served a bowl. "Si Dan, take this bowl to the old house first. We'll eat it when you come back."

This meal consisted of two boiled wild rabbits, filling a large pot, and a large bowl was also given to the Zhao family, all of which was meat.

When Zhao Sidan delivered the rabbit, the Zhao family had just finished eating. Old Mrs. Zhao looked surprised and asked, "I heard from Dawang that your family keeps a wolf, and that a wild wolf brought you a rabbit. Is that true or not?"

Zhao Sidan nodded vigorously: "Xiao Hei is a wolf. Its mother came to our door last night and brought over a lot of wild rabbits and pheasants this morning. Grandma, I'm going back for breakfast now. Goodbye!"

He ran away in a flash.

Grandma Zhao, holding her bowl, was horrified: "The wolf has even crept into the house, and my eldest daughter-in-law is still cooking rabbit meat like nothing's wrong! Old man, you have to think of something to do! Wolves eat people, what if they go berserk one day..."

"Four Eggs said their dad protected them; the wolves all collapsed on the ground as soon as they entered his house," Zhao Dawang said, staring at the bowl and reaching out his hand. "Grandma, let me have a bite."

Old Mrs. Zhao slapped the back of his hand and said, "You just finished your meal. What are you eating? Save it for dinner."

After saying that, he took the bowl into the kitchen, poured the rabbit meat into his own bowl, and then locked it in the cabinet in the house.

Zhao Dawang was in tears. The rabbit meat smelled so good that his mouth was watering. Why could he only eat it at night?

Grandma Zhao sat on the edge of the bed and sighed. Her eldest son was still worried even after he died, watching over them from heaven. She didn't know if this was a good thing or a bad thing.

Donghua stood by and watched, wanting to secretly take a piece of rabbit meat and put it in her mouth, but her grandmother locked the cabinet and she couldn't get it.

Seeing the empty bowl lying beside her, she pretended to be well-behaved and said, "Grandma, I'll take the bowl to my aunt."

She smelled the fragrance and walked to the gate of Cheng Wanwan's house.

Right now, Cheng Wanwan's family is having dinner. She took a piece of rabbit leg meat out of the pot and said, "I'll feed this to Xiao Hei. You guys don't mind, right?"

Zhao Sidan's mouth was full of meat, and he said vaguely: "This is the rabbit that Xiao Hei Niang caught. Of course it can be eaten."

Cheng Wanwan threw the rabbit leg meat on the ground, and Dahei immediately squeezed over and snatched the meat away. Xiaohei whimpered and chased after it, but it was too small to win.

She picked up another piece of rabbit meat and stuffed it directly into Xiao Hei's mouth: "Eat it quickly, don't let it be snatched away again."

The two dogs ate the rabbit meat contentedly.

Donghua was standing outside the yard, and her eyes turned red when she saw this scene.

My aunt is such a spendthrift! She actually fed rabbit meat to the dog. Dogs can eat meat, but she can't.

She stood at the door and hesitantly called out, "Auntie, Grandma asked me to return the bowl."

She walked in and sniffed hard, "Auntie, what are you eating? It smells so good. Is it rabbit meat..."

Cheng Wanwan took the empty bowl and said with a smile, "Thank you for the trip."

Donghua licked her lips and, with a thick skin, said, "The rabbit meat that my aunt just sent to Grandma was locked up by her, and I didn't get to eat a single bite..."

Cheng Wanwan's expression softened: "That bowl of rabbit meat was originally meant for your grandpa and grandma, isn't it normal that you can't have any?"

Zhao Sidan nodded: "My mother gave it to my grandparents as a gift to them. You are not an elder, so why would my mother give it to you?"

Donghua's eyes turned red after being scolded, and she stammered and couldn't speak, her eyes staring straight at the rabbit meat on the table.

Cheng Wanwan sighed.

They are all children of the Zhao family, but Xiahua is not like this. She doesn't want any food given to her, but Donghua keeps asking for food.

She didn't want to argue with an eight-year-old child. The child became like this because of improper education by adults. She couldn't blame the child, only the adults.

She said calmly, "Donghua, your aunt just sent over quite a bit. Your grandma will share it with you tonight."

She sent a large bowl over, which was already the most she could do. It was impossible for her to give a bite to everyone who came. Although there was a lot of rabbit meat, she had many children in her family, and two rabbits were not enough.

In the short time they were talking, the rabbit meat on the table was gone, the plate was clean, and Zhao Sidan had poured all the broth into his bowl.

Donghua went home with red eyes and a lot of anger.
