Chapter 447 The Sun Family's Scheme
Cheng Wanwan's expression was complicated.
The old lady has already refused the marriage proposal, so why are the Sun family still haunting us?
“I can tell, Xiao Lei seems to have feelings for Chunhua…” Wu Huiniang said. “I leave home too early every morning and come back too late at night, so I haven’t had a chance to ask what’s going on, what Third Aunt thinks, and whether she agrees to this marriage.”
Cheng Wanwan said seriously, "This marriage is not negotiable. When Xiaolei comes over in the future, be strict with him and make him leave as soon as possible. If he doesn't leave, don't let Chunhua have any contact with him."
Wu Huiniang understood and immediately nodded: "Okay, I'll go call Xiaolei right now."
She had just stood up when she heard a loud commotion coming from the backyard.
Cheng Fang, who was cleaning on the second floor, glanced out the window and shouted in a panic, "Something's wrong! Afu and Xiaolei are fighting!"
Cheng Wanwan pushed the chair aside and ran to the backyard.
Then they saw Afu chasing Sun Xiaolei to the open courtyard in the backyard. The big and burly Sun Xiaolei was beaten so badly by Afu that he had no chance to fight back. He squatted in the corner with his head in his hands, not saying a word.
"You bastard, you've got some nerve! How dare you do something like this? I'll beat you to death!"
Afu kicked him hard.
He was a pageboy who had been reading and writing since childhood. He looked frail, but now he unleashed tremendous strength, and Sun Xiaolei was kicked to the ground.
"Afu, stop hitting him!" Yan Tiezi quickly went over to stop him.
Zhao Dawang also came out of the warehouse, ran over and hugged Afu around the waist: "Let's talk this out, don't fight, calm down!"
"Ask him what he did!" Afu struggled violently. "He's a scumbag who deserves to be beaten to death! Let me go, I'm going to kill him!"
Cheng Wanwan glanced around the backyard, her gaze darkening: "Where's Chunhua?"
With such a commotion, Chunhua couldn't possibly have missed it, nor could she have failed to come out and mediate.
Afu was furious: "Chunhua was drugged by him and fainted. She's on the bed in the back room. If I hadn't come today, if I hadn't come... Chunhua would have been violated by this man surnamed Sun..."
He came to the backyard to find Dawang, and happened to pass by the kitchen. He saw Sun Xiaolei give Chunhua something to drink, and Chunhua fainted on the spot.
Just as he was wondering what was going on, he saw Sun Xiaolei help Chunhua to the side room, close the door like a thief, and not come out for a long time.
A man and a woman were alone in a room, and he felt something was off, so he kicked the door open. What he found was that this beast was taking off Chunhua's clothes!
"What?!" Wu Huiniang was shocked and rushed to the side room. Sure enough, she saw Chunhua lying unconscious on the bed with one button undone at her collar.
In that instant, she suddenly understood what was going on.
She shouted incredulously, "You look honest and simple, I really thought you were a reliable man, but I never expected you to do such a despicable thing! Sure enough, there isn't a single good person in your Guihua Village, you're disgusting!"
She grabbed the broom beside her and swung it at Sun Xiaolei.
"Don't do it yet," Cheng Wanwan quickly stopped her, her face as cold as ice. "Explain clearly, what medicine did you give Chunhua?"
Sun Xiaolei held his head, his voice hoarse, and said, "My mother gave me this medicine, but I don't know what it is..."
Wu Huiniang gritted her teeth: "I knew it! Aunt Sun was here to do something bad. Both mother and son are disgusting!"
She picked up the broom and continued hitting.
Zhao Dawang finally understood what was going on, spat on Sun Xiaolei's head, and joined the fight.
Cheng Wanwan walked to the side and said calmly, "Tiezi, go and fetch a doctor."
Yan Tiezi nodded, put down his work, and ran off to find a doctor.
The sun gradually began to set in the west.
In Guihua Village, people lived a life of resting at sunset. After half an hour, when the sun went down, the whole village would prepare to rest.
Sister-in-law Sun stood at her doorstep, gazing into the distance: "Why hasn't Xiao Lei come back yet?"
Grandma Sun snorted coldly, "The Zhao family said they could stop working after lunch, but they've been working until almost dark for several days in a row. They have to pay them extra!"
"Mother, Xiao Lei isn't working," Sister-in-law Sun said in a low voice. "If nothing unexpected happens, Xiao Lei's marriage will be settled today."
Grandma Sun's eyes lit up: "Really?"
If we were to marry into the Zhao family, we would be related to Lady Sui by marriage, and we could gain so many advantages by using Lady Sui's name.
Sister-in-law Sun nodded: "Xiao Lei hasn't come back yet, so it must be done. As his mother, I have to go there. Some things need to be done while the iron is hot."
She tucked the prepared betrothal gifts back into her pocket and strode toward Dahe Village.
The two villages are adjacent, and the shortcut is not far. She arrived at the entrance of Dahe Village before the sun had even set.
The two patrolmen guarding the intersection greeted her warmly: "Are you Sister-in-law Sun from Guihua Village? Aunt Zhao instructed us to invite her in as soon as she arrives."
Sister-in-law Sun had visited Dahe Village several times, and each time she was stopped at the village entrance, had to introduce herself, register her name, and leave her fingerprints before being allowed to enter. This was the first time she had been given such a warm welcome.
It seems that the Zhao family has approved of this marriage, knowing that Chunhua can only marry their Xiaolei, and this is their way of trying to please her.
Sister-in-law Sun waved her hand: "Aunt Zhao, you're too kind. You all continue with your work, I'll go in first."
She strode quickly toward Old Zhao's house.
The sun had withdrawn its last rays, and the village was shrouded in a hazy night. Torches were lit in Old Zhao's courtyard, and a number of people could be seen standing there from afar.
"Wow, it's so lively!" Sister-in-law Sun walked in with a smile on her face. "What are you all doing standing in the yard so late at night? Xiao Lei hasn't gone home yet, I've come to pick him up... Xiao Lei?!"
She paused, her gaze falling on a person in the courtyard.
Her son was huddled in the corner, covered in a stench of rotten leaves, swill, and pig excrement. There were handprints on his face and bloodstains at the corner of his mouth. His clean new clothes from the morning were now tattered and torn.
"Ah—!" Sister-in-law Sun screamed, "What did your Zhao family do to my son?!"
"Don't rush, I'll tell you slowly." Sun came out from under the eaves and put the child in Cheng Wanwan's arms. "Sister-in-law, please hold Xuanxuan for a moment."
Cheng Wanwan quickly hugged the heavy baby to her chest; she was eager to know how Mrs. Sun planned to handle this matter…
In the firelight, she saw Sun rush towards her sister-in-law like a cannonball, fearlessly charging forward in the posture of blowing up a bunker, and grabbing the hair on the back of her sister-in-law's head.
"You shameless, disgusting bastard, you actually dared to scheme against my daughter! I must have been blind to have married my daughter to your son!"
"Xiao Lei is such a good boy, and you shameless thing have corrupted him! With a wicked woman like you, I'd like to see who dares to marry into your family! You think you can benefit from the Zhao family's reputation? You don't even have the chance! You'd be lucky enough to dream about it!"
"If you dare to even think about it again, I'll storm into the Sun family and make a scene, get my older brother to divorce you, and make sure you never get to hold your head up again!"
"Clap clap clap!"
Sun slapped him hard several times.
