Chapter 271: Another One

Chapter 271: Another One

Although Zhao Yuanxi said this in a threatening manner, he actually meant it.

Mi Yan was dissatisfied with Fusu. Keeping him by Fusu's side would not be a good thing for both of them. It would be better to let them find their own place.

Zhao Yuanxi smiled and said, "Let's go and call them back!"

As soon as I walked to the entrance of the courtyard at the back, I could hear the sound of children playing inside.

Zhao Yuanxi stood on a high place, hidden in the bushes, watching the three children chasing a ball together. They seemed to be strangers just now, but now they are playing together.

Mi Qi was standing behind Queen Dowager Zhao and also saw this scene, with mixed feelings in his heart.

Zhao Yuanxi clapped his hands, and the three of them stopped when they heard the sound.

"Mother!" Ziying came running over, sweating profusely. He smiled brightly, held up three little fingers, and boasted, "I just scored three goals, more than all of them!"

Zhao Yuanxi touched his head and said, "Very impressive."

Ziying put his hands on his hips and said proudly, "Look, even Grandmother praised me for being so good, and you still refuse to admit defeat?"

"Humph, if Master Fusu hadn't always been helping you, I would have definitely won."

"Come on if you're brave enough. Even without my big brother, I can still defeat you!"

The two children quarreled until their faces turned red, but Zhao Yuanxi couldn't help but pull them apart. "Alright, Mi Yan is going back with your uncle, stop making trouble."

Ziying looked up at Uncle Mi, then at Mi Yan, and said hesitantly, "Uncle Mi, I forgive Mi Yan, and I don't blame him. Can you please stop hitting him?"

After they went out to play, they almost started fighting again at the beginning. During the pushing and shoving, the eldest brother found that Mi Yan was injured. After questioning, he found out that Uncle Mi really punished him.

Ziying didn't know that children who made mistakes would be punished so severely. When his grandmother punished him, at most she would spank him or give him snacks for a few days. But Mi Yan's knees were purple, and there were two red and swollen marks on the back of his hands. It was obvious that he was in pain.

Although Mi Yan was not very polite to him, he did not deserve such a severe punishment, not to mention that he had already cursed back.

Mi Yan looked at him in surprise, her eyes reddened, and she lowered her head, feeling aggrieved.

Mi Qi couldn't help but feel a little embarrassed, "Don't worry, uncle won't punish him. Let's go, let's go back!"

He extended his hand to Mi Yan, and the two of them walked away together. After a few steps, Mi Yan suddenly turned around, broke free from Mi Qi's hand, and trotted over to Zi Ying. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you by saying those words. This is my wooden sword, which I carved myself. I'm giving it to you as an apology."

Ziying glanced at Fusu and saw him nod. He happily took the short wooden sword and said, "Thank you. I like it very much. Come and play with us next time! Next time, I'll take you to try some of the other snacks here."

"Yes! It's a deal."

After leaving the palace, Mi Qi looked at his still excited son and asked, "Don't you hate them anymore?"

Mi Yan lowered her head in embarrassment, her fingers fingering the seams of her clothes, and whispered, "They're not that annoying. It's my fault."

Fusu was not that arrogant. On the contrary, he was very friendly and open-minded. Ziying was not naughty either. They approached him with malicious intent first, so they were attacked repeatedly by Ziying.

They are all good people, but he was prejudiced against them before.

"Do you still want to be Fusu's study partner now?"

"Although Fusu is very good, but—" Mi Yan grabbed her hair with a painful expression on her face, "I really can't read so many books!"

It was painful enough for him to barely learn the Qin language.

Being a companion to the prince meant accompanying Fusu all day long, reading articles that he could not understand, and copying laws that he did not understand. He felt that he might die of exhaustion before he finished reading those books.

"You're useless!" Mi Qi hit Mi Yan's head hard, feeling very disappointed with him.

He is obviously knowledgeable and talented, so how could he have such a lazy son?

Mi Yan cried out in pain, "Father, you only know how to beat me, and you just promised Ziying not to punish me!"

"Heh—I only promised not to punish you for what happened before. If you make a mistake later, I won't punish you. When you go back, copy the big characters that the teacher has laid out for me twenty more times!"

"Ah! But you've hit me so hard that my arm is hurting. I'm still copying?"

Mi Qi snorted coldly, "Even if your arms are broken, you have to copy it all with your feet."

After Mi Yan got off the carriage, he went to find his mother without looking back and told her about his grievances.

Mi Qi stood not far away, listening to his son's complaints and his wife's gentle comforting voice. The corners of his mouth couldn't help but rise, and he sighed imperceptibly.

It made no difference whether Chu had him or not, but what would they do without him here? Besides, he had been in Qin for almost thirty years. After leaving Qin, where could he go?

"My dear, did the Queen Mother say anything?" Lady Changping Jun came forward with a smile and helped Mi Qi change the long dress he was wearing.

"She didn't say anything, nor did she blame Yan'er for being rude."

"That's good! My dear, you have worked hard today."

Mi Qi's thoughts moved, but he heard his son complaining beside him, "Mom, you don't even stand on my side!"

Mi Qi said impatiently, "Go copy your words and don't hang around in front of me. If you make any more noise, I'll make you copy it thirty times."

Mi Yan widened his eyes and reluctantly returned to his yard.

"Why are you so angry? Is it because of the Empress Dowager that you are angry?"

Listening to his wife's concerned words, Mi Qi rested his head on her shoulder, nuzzled her neck, and whispered, "Sang'er, let's have another child!"

The woman's face flushed instantly. She pressed her hand against his chest, preventing him from getting close. She couldn't help but get angry, "What are you talking about! You're already grown up, stop making trouble!"

Mi Qi grabbed his wife's soft hand, stared at the chattering red lips in front of him, and couldn't wait to kiss them to completely block out the sound.

The woman struggled slightly, then her body went limp, allowing him to take what he wanted.

The red curtain fell, isolating everything outside.

Mi Yan copied more than ten pages of paper and was so hungry that he ran out to eat. He waited for a long time but his father and mother did not show up.

The steward brought dinner to him.

Mi Yan asked in confusion, "Where are my father and mother? Why don't they come over for dinner?"

"This..." The steward smiled awkwardly, "The master and the mistress are busy?"

"What's so busy that you didn't even have dinner?" Mi Yan suddenly realized something and looked furious. "Father and Mother must have been secretly eating delicious food behind my back. I'll go find them!"

"Hey! Young Master, Young Master! Wait a minute, the master and the mistress have important matters to attend to. If you go to disturb them now, the master will definitely punish you!" The steward hurried forward to catch up.
