Chapter 29 What Makes Us Human
Fusu didn't understand why his mother smiled at him so strangely. Did he say something wrong again?
"Then do you know what your father was doing when he was three years old?" Zhao Yuanxi smiled.
Fusu shook his head. His father was the King of Qin, so naturally no one dared to talk about his past.
However, the person in front of him now was the Queen Mother, his father's mother and the person closest to his father.
Fusu showed curiosity on his face and waited for Zhao Yuanxi to continue.
Zhao Yuanxi said softly, "At that time, your great-grandfather had not yet returned to Qin. Your uncle grew up under his wing. Like other children, your uncle also liked to take your great-grandfather with him to play."
During the years that Zichu was in Zhao State, he and Zhao Ji had a relatively peaceful and harmonious married life. Especially after Ying Zheng was born, they were as happy and joyful as ordinary wealthy people.
Until Zichu secretly returned to Qin and abandoned them, their lives were like falling from heaven to hell.
"Even people like your father had their moments of childlike innocence. So Fusu doesn't need to think that just because you're a prince of Qin, you can't act like an ordinary child. You must first learn to be a good person, and then learn how to be a good prince of Qin."
People are not machines, they should have joy, anger, sorrow and happiness. This is not wrong, but precisely the most lovable thing about being human.
Zhao Yuanxi certainly wouldn't blame Fusu, she would only blame her adopted son for being a scoundrel! ( ̄︶ ̄)
Fusu's hand was held, and the warmth from the palm of her hand made him nostalgic. He pursed his lips and lowered his head to ponder the meaning of his mother's words.
His teacher told him that he should be a benevolent monarch, his father wanted him to become a qualified prince of Qin, but only his grandmother told him that he should first be a good person.
This question was too profound for Fusu to understand, so he asked in confusion, "Then what does it mean to be a good person?"
Isn't he a human being now?
Zhao Yuanxi asked in return, "Do you like reading and calligraphy?"
Fusu nodded and said, "There are many truths in the book that I don't understand. I like it very much."
As expected of the son of the First Emperor, he is really different from ordinary people. Zhao Yuanxi couldn't help but feel emotional.
"Do you feel tired when you study?"
Fusu hesitated for a moment, blushing and saying, "Sometimes."
"Are you ashamed? Why should you be ashamed? The human body is naturally fatigued, or do you think that since you are a prince of Qin, you should be as tireless as your father?"
Zhao Yuanxi leaned down and looked Fusu in the eye. "The first thing you need to do now is to learn to face everything about yourself. Your tiredness, your happiness, your sadness, these are all who you are. Don't be ashamed of these things!"
Fusu felt dizzy after hearing this, but he roughly understood what these words meant.
"I understand!" Fusu looked up at his great mother, a glimmer in his eyes. Don't be afraid of your tears, and don't be stingy with your smile. This is how people should be.
Ziying was also confused by what he heard. He grabbed Zhao Yuanxi's hand and shook it, asking urgently, "Grandmother, Grandmother, am I a good person now?"
Zhao Yuanxi couldn't help laughing, "You're doing such a great job!"
I think Ziying used to be able to control his emotions, but now he has probably been spoiled by her and is a little too indulgent.
These two children are at two extremes, and Zhao Yuanxi couldn't help but feel a little stressed.
Hearing his grandmother's praise, Ziying was happy and raised his chin slightly.
That smug look made Zhao Yuanxi want to hit him on the head.
"Then can I eat the meal cooked by my grandmother today?" Ziying continued to jump and dance, his face full of anticipation.
Zhao Yuanxi said helplessly, "You learned the pomelo-making skills from me. I don't know how you can taste the difference."
"It's different! Big Mom's cooking is just better!"
This made Zhao Yuanxi laugh.
Zhao Yuanxi asked Fusu on the other side, "Fusu probably hasn't eaten anything I cook yet! I'll make some extra today so you can have enough!"
Fusu wanted to say that he had eaten the snacks made by his grandmother, and he even brought them with him, but when he heard the second half of the sentence, he swallowed his words back.
He wanted to try what his grandmother's cooking tasted like! His grandmother said he should learn to be a human being first, and that it should be okay for a human being to be a little greedy!
Zhao Yuanxi went to cook.
The two children were sitting at the door playing three-in-a-row. The chess pieces were made by someone else, and the rules of chess were also taught to Ziying by her.
Now Ziying taught Fusu, and the two of them talked back and forth, and time passed quickly.
When Zhao Yuanxi called them over for dinner, Ziying said with a look of dissatisfaction, "I will definitely beat you next time!"
Fusu lowered his head and chuckled, "Okay, I'll wait for you to beat me next time."
snort--
Ziying whined and ran to Zhao Yuanxi, tugging at her clothes. "Grandmother, please teach me a better chess game. I must beat my elder brother next time."
"Okay! I'll teach you Gomoku next time! But whether you can win depends on your own ability!"
She has Go in her room, so she doesn't need to make a special chessboard and chess pieces.
Ziying clenched his fists, "I won't lose!"
The aroma of food immediately drew his attention back to the food. "What a nice smell! What did Grandmother make today? I seem to smell a familiar scent."
He couldn't wait to run over.
Zhao Yuanxi and Fusu slowed down a few steps. When they walked over, they saw Ziying lying beside the table, staring at the dishes with shining eyes.
Without waiting for Zhao Yuanxi's help, Ziying climbed onto the seat by himself, waiting eagerly for her to distribute the food.
Zhao Yuanxi turned around and looked at Fusu. Fusu seemed to understand what she meant and immediately sat in another seat with a red face.
It seemed that neither of the two children needed her much, which made Zhao Yuanxi feel a little melancholy.
She could only begin to introduce the food, "Chu sent some tofu today, and I made a minced meat and tofu stew. I think you haven't eaten it before."
Zhao Yuanxi served each of them half a bowl.
"We also have stir-fried chicken with green onions, braised spareribs, and ginger duck!"
When Ziying saw that it was tofu, his appetite immediately increased. He stuffed it into his mouth without caring that the tofu was still steaming. It was so hot that he pouted and blew air from it, but he was reluctant to spit out the tofu.
"Eat slowly, no one is going to snatch it from you!" Zhao Yuanxi said helplessly.
"Uncle Chu's tofu tastes the best. I want to eat it every day, but you don't always make it for me."
Isn't this her fault?
It takes an hour for the Chu family to get to Yongcheng by horse carriage. The Chu family doesn't have a horse carriage or an ox cart, so it will take half a day to come here. How could she have the nerve to ask Chu to come here specially for a piece of tofu?
Besides, it’s not like tofu hasn’t been made in Liyang Palace before, he just thinks it’s not as delicious as the one made by the Chu family.
Fusu, who was standing by, looked at the white lumps of sauce in his bowl and poked them curiously.
Soft!
He scooped a small spoonful, put it in his mouth, and his eyes curved unconsciously.
