Chapter 104 I suspect there's something being hidden from me.

"It's all your fault. If it weren't for you, my baby wouldn't have died."

"Why are you perfectly fine while I have to watch my partner and baby get sick?"

...

Before Maoduoduo could react, she was repeatedly chased away.

Even the beastmen who had previously been on good terms with CatDodo had complicated expressions, only saying that they no longer wanted CatDodo's help and that CatDodo should not appear in front of them.

Why is this happening? Everything was fine before...

"Mother!" Snake Two ran over quickly.

His little face was flushed, and he was preoccupied. He stepped forward and pulled Maoduo away, not wanting Maoduo to carry the bucket of medicine anymore. "My brother and I missed you so much. Um, let's go back first."

"Wait a minute, the way you're doing this makes me suspect that you're hiding something from me."

CatDodo's intuition was correct.

Snake Two pursed his lips, not wanting to speak, but seeing him like this, Cat Duo Duo had no choice but to follow him.

Even so, she still chose to place the bucket containing the herbal medicine outside, hoping that people could take it when needed.

She had only taken a few steps with Snake Two when she suddenly remembered something she had forgotten and ran back. By then, Snake Two was too late to stop her and could only watch as Cat Dodo witnessed a group of orcs angrily destroying the pot of medicine she had painstakingly brewed and carelessly discarding it to one side.

"I never want to see cats again."

"That wretched woman, she is the one who brought misfortune and calamity to the city."

"Everyone was fine before she came back, but she's already caused a lot of trouble. This girl is definitely problematic."

...

Mao Duoduo's hands were trembling as she listened to these words.

"Please, Mother, come with me." Snake Two's voice was very soft, but he held her tightly, begging Cat Duoduo to come with him.

Cat Duoduo realized that Snake Two's face was already wet with tears, and her heart felt like it had been stabbed. She instinctively chose to hug Snake Two and run away.

Once they were out of sight, Cat Duoduo slowed down and felt Snake Two's shoulders trembling; he was crying.

"I'm sorry, Snake Two." After thinking it over, Cat Duoduo could only say this.

“Mother didn’t do anything wrong.” Snake Two looked up at her, his eyes full of trust.

These days, his closest brother is bedridden, barely surviving on liquid meat broth. Even so, Snake Three, who was originally a bit chubby, has quickly lost weight.

Snake one and snake two knew that snake three was dangerous, and if they continued, the other would surely die.

Unfortunately, his two older brothers couldn't offer any real help...

Snake Two lowered his voice, his voice tinged with pain and struggle, "Mother, I'm sorry, my brother and I have been keeping this from you. Father and Gal didn't want you to know about this."

"So, this is still your shared secret?" Cat Duoduo couldn't help but laugh at herself, feeling Snake Two's body tremble.

She said sincerely, "Please, Snake Three, please tell me what's going on. I don't want people to scold me, but I don't know why."

She looked at Snake Two with pleading eyes, which made Snake Two, who was already attached to her, show a struggle, but in the end he still chose to speak.

"It's in the city. I don't know when it started, but rumors have been spreading that you, Mother, are a once-in-a-century jinx, that you brought this disaster..."

Orcs have already died, and although the number is small, the sheer number of orcs lying in bed has caused everyone to feel tense and uneasy.

And so it was; even the kittens from CatDodo's family were infected, collapsing and remaining unconscious. Everyone chose to ignore this, unilaterally venting their anger and frustration on CatDodo.

They're just using Maoduo as an outlet for their anger; nobody is staying calm or trying to investigate properly. They're just venting for the sake of venting...

Upon hearing this, Maoduo twitched her lips and gave a wry smile. "This is the first time I've discovered that I actually have this function." This could be considered a form of self-deprecation.

Snake Two was afraid she would be upset, after all, Cat Duo Duo's efforts to save everyone were genuine. She studied day and night, constantly brewing medicinal soup.

While herbal medicine cannot cure the disease, it can at least alleviate the pain and allow people to eat a little something, so they don't have to lie in bed waiting to die.

"Mother, don't worry. Father has been working hard to help you investigate and will definitely find the person who framed you."

"...Thanks then."

Okay, now CatDodo understands why the Heavenly Serpent Ronggal has been absent these past few days.

Even so, she couldn't help but continue her research, determined to find a cure that could control the disease. If it weren't for the two snakes intervening, Cat Duoduo would have wanted to use herself as a test subject.

Others may not accept CatDodo's kindness, but CatDodo doesn't want to see everyone die.

Each life is incredibly precious, and Duoduo, who has been given a second chance at life, cherishes them all with utmost care.

Ignoring the objections of both snakes, she always prepared a bucket of herbal medicine and placed it where everyone could see it, hoping that some beastmen would still be able to use it and temporarily alleviate their illness.

However, her good intentions were destined to be betrayed.

"What are you doing here? Do you want us all to die right now?"

"Witch, get out of here right now. If it weren't for me, we would all be alive and well."

...

People in the city are becoming increasingly hostile towards Cat Duoduo, and many people come to verbally abuse her whenever they see her.

Mao Duoduo was also unhappy. She wasn't born with a thick skin to ignore everything. Several times she wanted to fight back, or even abandon these people and leave them behind.

However, she was still moved by some orcs who were seriously ill and had given up everything to beg her to help them get treatment. Despite the insults from everyone, she chose to come and help, and in the end, she did manage to alleviate the condition of some of the orcs.

In the best-case scenario, the blisters appear to have subsided, and the fever is under control. CatDodo has decided to monitor the patient a few more times to confirm there's no contagiousness before trying a new medication regimen. At that point, the patient should be able to make a full recovery…

"Hey, what are you doing here?"

Suddenly, while the cat was seeing a vet, Fei Li'er appeared.

She was originally next door, but upon hearing about Maoduoduo's situation, she immediately came over to hurl insults at Maoduoduo.

"No way, you don't mean to get this whole family infected, do you?!"

"You're so cruel! Everyone's already having a hard time, and you're the one who targets us. Tell me, what are you thinking, trying to make everyone lose their loved ones and friends..."

Felice's words were extremely persuasive, and her voice and content drew a lot of attention and drew people closer. When everyone realized she was insulting CatDodo, a wave of resentment washed over them, and the next second, they echoed Felice's words, harboring even more resentment towards CatDodo.
