"Keep moving forward!"
Cat Dodo gave instructions, telling everyone to follow the path guided by the starlight she saw.
It looked close, but it was actually very far. Everyone ran for a long time, carrying the cubs in their arms. The cubs yawned and couldn't help but fall asleep.
As dawn approached and the sky began to lighten, CatDodo noticed that the starlight was disappearing one by one, like burst bubbles.
"Wait a minute, it seems we've arrived."
She subconsciously left the Serpent's embrace, took a few steps forward, and saw with her own eyes that a magnificent palace stood where the starlight had last disappeared.
She rubbed her eyes and subconsciously turned her head to look at the Serpent Rong. "I think I saw a palace."
“I saw it too.” She Rong nodded, then simply grasped Mao Duoduo’s hand.
The other orcs echoed, "We saw it too."
"Very well, perhaps the answer lies ahead." The leader of the snake demon clan couldn't contain his joy.
As they walked forward, the closer they got, the more they realized how magnificent and vast the palace was, far beyond the reach of ordinary people.
As they closed the distance, everyone couldn't resist running forward. Even CatDodo refused SnakeRong's embrace, his heart completely captivated by the palace.
The problem is, when they arrived at the destination, they discovered the palace had vanished...
"No."
There was absolutely nothing there.
CatDodo raised its hand, looking utterly astonished, and murmured, "This is a mirage."
"Seriously? They're playing me for a fool. But here's the thing, they wouldn't just randomly point me to some pointless place..."
If she wasn't mistaken, the starlight should be guiding them to their destination this time.
At this moment, only the Serpent Rong showed a thoughtful expression.
He simply said, "I've never seen that building before."
These words resonated with the other orcs, who all said they had never seen anything like it before. That was precisely why they felt such novelty and longing when they first saw it.
Listening to their words, Maoduo seemed to be deep in thought: "Perhaps, this palace may have sunk underground."
"That was all due to the refraction of light, which is why so many of us could see the same thing at the same time..."
The more she talked about it, the more she realized it made sense, and her hands involuntarily clenched tighter.
"Refraction?" Snake Rong looked puzzled. Cat Duo Duo always seemed to like to say things that were novel, but no one had ever heard of them before.
"What I mean is, that palace might be very special..." As for what makes it special, Maoduo really couldn't say.
She was also uncertain about the situation. She had asked everyone to follow her all night to this place, only to find that it was all a mirage. How could she go back and explain this to everyone?
Meanwhile, her confusion deepened. The illusory palace looked incredibly grand; it was clearly not something orcs could have built.
Judging from the various works that Maoduo had seen when he was still in the modern world, the palace seemed to be a product of another civilization.
In an instant, her brain exploded with information. While others were discussing where to rest, Maoduoduo tried to say:
"Everyone, I still think we should find the answer we're looking for nearby."
"Let's look again."
Seeing her like this, the leader decided to appease everyone.
Upon hearing this, Maoduo was about to thank the other party for their trust when, unexpectedly, she almost slipped. "Something's sucking me in!"
Snake Rong suddenly reached out and pulled her into his arms. Staring at the quicksand where Cat Duoduo had almost fallen in, he narrowed his eyes slightly: "It's the quicksand here that's the problem; they're moving."
"No way, quicksand that's moving! It's dangerous! Run!" Cat Duoduo shouted as soon as she realized what was happening, but it was too late.
In the blink of an eye, the large furniture was swallowed by quicksand, and in the time it took for one person to close their eyes and the other to open them, everyone was thrown to the same spot.
As Maoduo recovered, She Rong gently patted her back, "Are you alright?"
"It's nothing, I'm just a little dizzy." Cat Duoduo glanced around and found that it was a closed passage, making it impossible to tell where she was.
She couldn't help but look confused. "Is this what's under the quicksand?"
That's not right. She had never heard of such an outrageous thing when she was in the modern world.
"Let's go," Snake Rong said to Cat Duoduo.
"good."
CatDodo realized what was happening and followed the others forward.
Everyone has night vision, so it doesn't matter if there's no light. Now they're all following the leader's self-proclaimed intuitive guidance, heading in the same direction.
In the middle of the night, to avoid the silence causing fear, everyone tried to tell all sorts of jokes, although many of them were the kind that made people's skin crawl...
"It seems you guys don't know as much gossip as I do."
Cat Duoduo was itching to learn more about the gossip she had heard in modern times from these relatively innocent beastmen.
Everyone was drawn to her voice. Mao Duoduo cleared her throat and was about to speak when suddenly, the twinkling lights in front of her caught her attention.
She noticed this and quickly shared her discovery. Everyone sprinted forward, and soon the expert revealed the answer. It turned out that there were luminous pearls on this side of the wall at regular intervals.
The other party's presence made this mysterious place exceptionally special. CatDodo even checked the size of the luminous pearl and then examined her own palm.
"Tsk, something this big can't be collected easily."
"Do you want it?"
It would have been better if the snake hadn't spoken, but once it did, it called out to the cat, leaving the cat speechless.
She sighed and kindly reminded him, "This thing is too big. Besides, who knows if there might be some kind of trap."
Isn't it said that in those tomb raiding novels, anything in them could be a death flag?
She Rong simply looked at her, assuming she was afraid of danger, and said directly, "With me here, there's nothing to be afraid of."
"...It's not a question of whether you're afraid or not."
CatDodo was both amused and exasperated.
The leader and others saw this scene and laughed silently, finding it quite amusing that the Serpent Rong had such a lovely companion.
"Or, how about we dig it up when we leave?" CatDodo suggested.
Snake Rong seemed to be deep in thought and was about to nod when suddenly his expression changed, and he looked sharply in one direction.
"She Rong, what's wrong?" Mao Duoduo perked up; She Rong wasn't one to make baseless accusations.
"It's coming! Something's coming!" As soon as Serpent Rong said this, the group of beastmen took the initiative to resist and attack.
