Chapter 189 Discovering a Little Beast

The roar came entirely from the passage to the northeast.

Upon hearing this, Maoduo was so frightened that she was about to run away, but the faint mournful sounds that followed startled her.

The sounds were indeed terrifying at first, but what I heard later seemed quite pitiful...

She was itching to go; perhaps it wasn't too dangerous over there.

Besides, now that she's separated from the others, she might run into other people who are also looking for her if she follows the sound.

"Never mind, I'll take the plunge. I have my spatial storage as a safety net anyway." If it gets too dangerous, I'll just run into my spatial storage.

Cat Duoduo took a deep breath and walked straight ahead. The passage was quite a distance away, and there were vines all around. The heat was everywhere, making Cat Duoduo think about running into the space to cool off at any time.

Just then, she heard a faint sound and boldly walked towards a cave entrance. There she saw a giant beast, more than three meters tall, lying on the ground.

The creature was covered in fiery red fur and had horns on its head, making it quite unique. Where the fur didn't conceal it, there were enormous wounds that nearly reached the bone, giving the impression that it had been inflicted with a ruthless attack that almost cleaved the creature in two.

"Goodness, even such a terrifying beast has been treated like this, I'd better leave quickly." Cat Duoduo tried to get up, when suddenly she heard a faint voice behind the giant beast.

The chirping sound, so soft and delicate, was as beautiful as a lark's, but now it carried an unconcealable sorrow.

CatDodo confirmed that the giant beast was taking in little air and exhaling much air, so it mustered its courage and went over to take a look, and there it was—a small one.

The smaller one wasn't even as tall as her knee, and seemed to be constantly trying to wake its elder. Noticing that Cat Duoduo was coming over, it tried to show its fierce side, baring its teeth in a threatening manner.

The problem kept chirping, which only made the cat, Duoduo, feel more and more sorry for the other cat...

"You're still so young."

"Don't worry, I have no hostility towards you. I'll try to see if I can save you."

Cat Duoduo carefully examined the giant beast's condition and quickly retrieved the hemostatic powder from her spatial storage.

She wanted to use it on the giant beast, but the little one, seeing this, thought it was going to hurt its mother and bared its teeth, ready to attack.

Instead, the giant beast, which should have lost consciousness at this moment, opened its eyes.

These were enormous, intimidating beastly eyes, staring unblinkingly at Mao Duoduo, making her gasp for breath and instinctively take a few steps back.

"Um, I swear, I absolutely did not intend to do anything to you."

"Look, this is medicine powder; it should be able to help you."

She shook the powder in the small paper bag.

The giant beast seemed to sense her goodwill, a pleading look flashing in its eyes, before turning to look at the smaller one.

"Chirp chirp." Little Rumu clung to the giant beast, thinking that this would make things easier for her mother. Then she turned to look at Cat Duoduo and continued to chirp.

But this time, CatDodo could sense the other's plea, begging him to save his mother...

"Ugh, this is so annoying, let's try it quickly." Cat Duoduo didn't care about anything else and quickly applied medicine to the giant beast; the problem was far too difficult.

The beast's injuries were so horrific that the previously potent and effective hemostatic powder was now completely useless.

The worst part was that the giant beast's blood burned like flames, and when it landed on the ground, it almost splashed up hot air that scalded CatDodo.

"Oh my god, how do we treat this? I've never seen anything like this before." CatDodo was really going crazy now; the hemostatic powder wasn't helping much at all.

"No need." Suddenly, a gentle female voice rang out, startling Mao Duoduo, who took several steps back.

"Who spoke... Hey, it was you."

CatDodo looked at the giant beast in disbelief. She nodded to CatDodo, her voice filled with undisguised weakness, "I'm badly injured, I can't survive."

"I beg you to take care of my child. He is a descendant of the Spirit Flame Beast. If I die, how will he survive alone? Please, kind person."

Tears streamed down the giant beast's face, a testament to a mother's love and concern for her unknowing child's future.

"Stop crying, you're only wasting your energy and you'll die even faster." Cat Duoduo really couldn't stand it anymore.

She gritted her teeth and could only nod: "Fine, I agree. But you, who made you become like this..."

The giant beast looked at her with gentle eyes and simply said, "No need, those guys won't come looking for you."

"I'm sorry, Lolo, I'm going to have a very long dream. Please come find me later..."

As the last words fell, the giant beast died completely, its last breath escaping, which immediately elicited painful whimpers from the smaller creature.

Despite the pleasant sound of the voice, Maoduo couldn't hide her soft heart. She sighed and muttered that she should just consider it something she owed them, while she started digging a hole for them.

At first, only Maoduo did the work, but later Xiaoshou joined in despite his grief.

He looks small, but he's incredibly efficient at his work, much faster than someone like Maoduo who tries to dig holes by finding sharp objects.

In just a few minutes, a pit large enough to hold the beast was formed, and the cats, Dodo and Little, worked together to bury the giant beast.

She stomped on the ground to prevent the giant beast's corpse from being used, then looked at the little beast still nestled in the hay where the giant beast had been, clinging to itself and refusing to move, and said with a hint of helplessness, "Since your mother has said so, can you come with me?"

"I may not be a very good person, but I can still manage to support you..."

She thought for a moment, then took out a bottle of milk from her spatial storage and handed it to the little beast.

The other person seemed a little hesitant, but was indeed somewhat attracted by the milk.

Cat Duoduo tried sitting next to the other, and seeing that the other did not attack, she simply went forward and hugged the other in her arms.

The little beast was indeed somewhat taken aback and unaccustomed to it, but perhaps because of the dying beast's instructions, it reluctantly obeyed and tried to drink a sip of the milk that the cat gave it.

"Come on, keep drinking."

"Drinking this is good for your health, and it will help you grow up. Then you can choose to do whatever you like. Whether it's avenging your mother or doing something else, I don't care..."

Cat Duoduo patiently coaxed the other party and successfully got the little beast to drink two bottles of milk, which barely helped it recover.

She was relieved to find that the other person's stomach was indeed swollen.

Sure enough, this little guy has been enduring without eating for a long time. If it continues to endure this, it probably won't last more than a few days before it dies along with the giant beast.

"Well, my companions are nearby. I'll take you to meet them." After thinking for a moment, Maoduo took the initiative to lead the other person back the way they came.
