Chapter 11 Six Years

After a brief chat with Lady Fucha, Xiuning returned to her courtyard.

Xiu Ning was not affected by these things at all. She calmly finished her game of chess with her female teacher. When she went to bed in the evening, Xiu Ning called out the system that had not appeared for a while.

"If we don't interfere too much, will the characters in the story still follow the predetermined path?"

The young prince in the palace, who was not expected to live long, gave her a reminder: because there were mission takers and stowaways in this world, they would all change the fate of the original characters to some extent. Similarly, others who were entangled with them would also be affected.

"Host, there is no question of whether or not to interfere too much. This mission world changed the moment it appeared with you and the others."

The system advises the host to treat the relevant information as merely a reference.

The system's mechanical voice made Xiu Ning feel that she had just expected it. At the same time, she thought of the smuggler who had already entered the palace, "Over-reliance on existing memories or data can easily lead to trouble."

"That's right, people are complex, and the same sentence can have different meanings in different contexts."

Similarly, when external circumstances influence and change one's inner state, one will have different thoughts.

"Host, the mission difficulty has increased. Please prepare for the important challenge you are about to face."

The system somehow produced a few cringeworthy lines, leaving Xiuning feeling incredibly embarrassed.

Ignoring the erratic system in her mind, Xiu Ning simply closed her eyes and fell asleep.

While Xiu Ning slept soundly, He Sheli Fangyi in the palace couldn't help but suffer from insomnia.

Hesheli Fangyi turned over and sat up in bed.

Not far away, the faint candlelight grew brighter, and Xia He, a maid carrying a lamp, came to Fang Yi's side. "Your Highness, are you feeling unwell?"

Fangyi shook her head. "The Emperor has a new prince, I should be happy." But when she thought about how she had been in the palace for two years and her belly was still not showing any signs of pregnancy, not to mention that her grandfather, who was the pillar of the family, had passed away, she wondered what she would do in the future.

"Your Majesty, he is merely a son born to a concubine, and due to ancestral rules, he was sent to the Prince's residence as soon as he was born."

The servants in the prince's quarters are sycophantic and arrogant; this young prince...

Xia He hadn't finished speaking when Hesheli Fangyi's eyes suddenly lit up. "Yes, the young prince is still young. If the servants don't take good care of him," it would be only natural if he fell ill and died.

"Your Majesty, you mustn't!" Xia He hurriedly reminded Hesheli Fangyi in alarm. "The power in the palace is still in the hands of the Empress Dowager. We can't get involved in what the prince is doing."

"I didn't say I would take action. Besides, I don't have any children yet." Even if I did take action, it wouldn't be worth it. On the contrary, it would increase the probability of being rejected after being exposed. She needs to have offspring first before she can plan more.

"It's getting late, let's go to sleep."

After Hesheli Fangyi finished speaking, she hugged the blanket and lay down again.

The light gradually faded away, eventually plunging into complete darkness, and the entire bedchamber fell silent.

After a night, the first light of dawn appeared.

Xiu Ning opened her eyes, got up on time, and washed and ate with the help of her maid Chun Yu. Then she began her daily study routine.

Xiuning enriched herself by knowing what to do and when to do it, accumulating knowledge every day.

As the days grew colder, autumn clothes were replaced with winter clothes. Snow fell outside the window, and a heater was lit inside the house. While warming herself by the charcoal fire, she flipped through the chess manual in her hand. Xiu Ning's gentle and sweet features, polished by time, seemed like a precious jade radiating a unique light, dazzling and captivating.

Bang---

The distinctive sound of firecrackers drifted in from outside the door. Xiuning put down the book she was reading and looked up at Chunyu, who had just entered.

"Princess, Madam invites you to stay up late in the main courtyard to celebrate the New Year."

A few snowflakes still clung to the spring rain, shining like stars in the candlelight.

With a soft "hmm," Xiu Ning put on the cloak with Chun Yu's help.

Wearing a red cloak with white fringed edges, Xiu Ning buried her face in it, carrying a sticker lantern, and hurried towards the main courtyard.

"Princess, please slow down. It's dark and the road is slippery. Let me help you light the way."

Chunyu's anxious voice came from behind, making Xiuning, who was walking in front, chuckle.

The unmelted white snowflakes made the entire courtyard exceptionally bright.

Looking up slightly at the star-studded night sky, Xiu Ning was absolutely certain that the sixth year of the Kangxi Emperor's reign had passed and a new year was about to begin.
