When Qin Suisui received Yu Chengjue's breakup text message, she was sitting in a large lecture hall, listening to a lecture on options and analysis from the finance department.
"Finally, I would like to add that the nature of options trading is different from that of futures. It is difficult to conduct short-term trading, which depends on the trading volume and price of the options..."
This was Professor Yu Beichen's lecture, a true luminary and leading figure in the Department of Finance at Aurora University. His lectures were vivid and insightful, and the entire lecture hall was packed.
Qin Suisui is a law major, but this year she applied to the same university to study finance instead. As an auditor, she could only squeeze into the last row.
As the postgraduate entrance exam drew closer, she worked even harder than others.
In order to stay in Huating and fight alongside her boyfriend, she has spent the past six months basically auditing classes in the Finance Department or studying in the self-study room, leaving early and returning late, so that she doesn't even have time to go on dates.
Upon hearing the text message notification, she reached out and silenced her phone, continuing to concentrate on the lesson.
It wasn't until get out of class ended and other students gradually left the classroom that she picked up her phone to check her text messages.
Aside from a few study groups that were unusually active, there was only one unread text message from Chengjue.
A warm feeling rose in her heart, and a faint smile appeared on her bright and fair face.
She tapped the chat window, and the text message made her heart skip a beat; her mood instantly plummeted.
Yu Chengjue sent her a breakup text message!
Qin Suisui's fingers trembled slightly as she stopped on the screen and slowly swiped upwards. The last text message was from a week ago.
How long has it been since the two last met? Half a month or twenty days? Qin Suisui's face showed a bitter smile and confusion.
Stepping out of the teaching building, the sky was overcast, and light snow began to fall.
She hesitated for a moment, then opened her umbrella and walked towards the Financial Research Institute, braving the wind and snow.
Qin Suisui's mind went blank, and she felt as if a huge rock was pressing on her chest, making it difficult to breathe.
She disliked breakups that ended abruptly and without a clear reason; she believed that breakups should always be discussed face-to-face.
Qin Suisui walked to the foot of the male dormitory building of the graduate school. Dusk was falling and the snow was falling heavier.
She stood by the roadside, holding an umbrella. The streetlights on both sides of the path were lit, and under the dim yellow light, snowflakes danced in the air like moths.
There were hardly any pedestrians on the road, and she felt a chill emanating from her body.
I don't know how long I stood there, but with my blurry vision I saw two figures walking towards me, leaning on each other, gradually becoming clearer as they approached.
The tall figure was both familiar and unfamiliar, and a petite girl nestled in his arms, occasionally letting out a soft laugh.
Yu Chengjue lowered his head and sipped the milk tea the girl offered him. The gentleness he showed when he looked down seemed familiar.
Qin Suisui's lips twitched slightly, a dense, stinging pain rising in her chest. She stared numbly at Yu Chengjue's doting smile as he looked at someone else.
She had countless guesses, but she never expected the result to be so shocking and disgusting!
The tall, upright, sunny, and self-disciplined boy in her memory seems to have long since disappeared, or perhaps she never truly understood him?
She clenched her hands tightly, her nails digging into the soft flesh of her palms. The stinging pain brought her back to some composure.
Qin Suisui's hands were already frozen stiff. She slowly took out her phone and took a picture of the scene with a blank expression.
The phone flashlight illuminated the two feeding each other milk tea, and Yu Chengjue frowned as he looked over.
"Sui Sui!"
A flicker of panic crossed Yu Chengjue's eyes, but he quickly regained his composure.
He hadn't expected Qin Suisui to be waiting for him downstairs in the men's dormitory. Looking at her pale face beneath her dark hair, a pang of sadness swept through his heart.
"Senior brother!"
A sweet voice reached his ears, and the soft warmth in his arms leaned closer to him. He reached out and kept an arm's length away.
Yu Chengjue took two steps forward, his expression obscured by the darkness, and asked hesitantly, "Sui Sui, what are you doing here?"
"Senior brother, you're too far away from me, I'm so cold."
The girl spoke softly and gently, subtly leaning into Yu Chengjue's arms.
Qin Suisui clenched her jaw, her tone sarcastic.
"Yu Chengjue, how can I see your true colors if I don't come?"
“Sui Sui, it’s me~.”
"Senior brother!"
The girl beside him gripped his arm tightly, her eyes filled with tension.
Yu Chengjue put his hands in his pockets, lowered his head and smiled bitterly.
"Sui Sui, did you see the text message I sent this afternoon?"
Qin Suisui curled her lips into a mocking smile as she looked at her ex-boyfriend.
"Yu Chengjue, shouldn't we have made the breakup clear face to face?"
She glanced down at the girl who was clinging to Yu Chengjue's arm again. This time, he didn't resist. The girl raised her chin slightly, her half-closed eyes filled with a mocking smile.
"A seamless transition? If you're cheating, just admit it. What can ambiguity hide?"
Qin Suisui never imagined that one day she would face such a humiliating betrayal, and her voice was cold.
"Yu Chengjue, you could have just told me to my face if you fell for someone else. Even if I was disappointed, I wouldn't look down on you. Couldn't we have broken up peacefully? Why did you have to do something so despicable?"
"Or do you not even have the courage to ask me face to face?"
Her gaze toward the two grew increasingly cold.
"One of you is a cunning and despicable traitor, the other is a coward and a vile man. You two are a match made in heaven!"
"Qin Suisui, your senior brother broke up with you this afternoon. You'd better watch your words. My senior brother and I are now in a normal relationship."
The girl holding Yu Chengjue's arm looked at her with arrogance in her eyes, and Qin Suisui's lips curled slightly.
"Whether you're the other woman or not, you two know the truth!"
"Sui Sui, I'm sorry!"
Yu Chengjue knew he was in the wrong, and he subconsciously took a step forward, only to be pulled back by the girl who followed closely behind.
She wrapped her arms around Yu Chengjue's waist, tilted her head back, and spoke with obvious panic in her voice.
"Senior brother, didn't we make a date tonight? My uncle will be waiting for you at Huating Securities tomorrow."
