Chapter 125 Strangulation

Huo Jiakai and his wife parted on bad terms, and Su Chun simply returned to her parents' home to seek advice from her brother.

The elderly Su couple had run a small business in their early years, which was only considered a modest living standard in Beicheng.

It wasn't until the youngest daughter of the Su family married the only son of the Huo family that the Su family's business gradually grew, out of respect for the Huo family.

Unfortunately, in recent years, due to the Su family's eldest son, Su Chengdong's, eagerness for quick success and instant benefits, several investments have failed, and the Su family's businesses have basically lost their cash flow.

If Su Chun hadn't used her own savings to subsidize part of the profits, the Su family's business might have been auctioned off by the bank long ago.

Money is king, so Su Chun received queen-level treatment when she returned to her parents' home.

"Big brother!"

Su Chun called out to Su Chengdong as soon as she entered the room.

"Little sister, what brings you back today?"

Old Master Huo was just buried today, and my younger sister, who was away from home, managed to handle the Huo family's estate perfectly. Why is she showing up now? Is there anything wrong with that?

"Brother, let's talk in the study!"

Su Chun looked impatient. She exchanged a few words with the elderly Su couple and then followed her older brother upstairs.

"What?"

Su Chengdong was furious when he heard that the old man of the Huo family had given most of the Huo family's property to Jia Kai's son from his first marriage.

“Little sister, there’s definitely something fishy going on between that lawyer surnamed Yan and that kid Huo Zhongyuan. My friend knows a lawyer, and I’ll take you to see him tomorrow. I just don’t believe that your family of five is inferior to a bastard raised outside.”

His sister lost such a large sum of money for no reason, and it was as painful as if a piece of his heart had been ripped out.

"Cough~ cough~"

He coughed lightly, rubbed his palms together, and looked at Su Chun with a fawning expression.

"Little sister, I've recently found a promising investment opportunity, but all my funds are tied up in the stock market, and I'm really short of cash. Could you lend me some money temporarily?"

"Brother, why are you borrowing again? You still haven't paid back the five million you borrowed at the end of last year. Where would I get that much money!"

Su Chun's expression changed, and she looked unhappy.

Su Chengdong sat down opposite her sullenly, lifting his eyelids to complain.

"Do you think I want to borrow money from you? And you're going to accuse me of being shameless?"

“Don’t you even look at how many people in my family are waiting for me to earn money to support them? If I don’t think about investing and making some money, I probably won’t even be able to afford my parents’ medical expenses.”

Su Chun looked at him with suspicion and asked, "Didn't I give you 200,000 yuan at the end of the year? Why is it gone again?"

"Well, isn't the New Year a big expense? Look at the old lady, a single set of clothes costs several thousand yuan, and just a few sets would cost tens of thousands of yuan, not to mention other miscellaneous expenses. Is 200,000 yuan enough to cover all that?"

Su Chengdong was displeased that his younger sister was holding him accountable.

"Little sister, out of all your brothers and sisters, you're the best off. You can't give your older brother a hard time over such a small amount of money!"

"Alright, alright, stop talking. I don't have much either, maybe a million at most!"

Su Chun has been full of resentment lately because of the inheritance issue. She finally managed to go back to her parents' home, but was chased for money again, which made her so angry that she almost turned around and left.

Then she thought of the legal battle between her and Huo Jiakai, and for the time being, she could only suppress her anger.

"One million is a bit too little!"

Su Chengdong carefully observed his younger sister's expression, and when he saw her face darken, he quickly waved his hand.

"Alright, alright, one million it is!"

"snort!"

Seeing her elder brother's dismissive attitude towards a million dollars, Su Chun couldn't help but feel bitter.

When the old woman was alive, she never looked down on her brothers and sisters. If even one of her brothers had been successful, she wouldn't be so isolated and helpless.

Thinking of her elder brother's scheming mind, she frowned and stood up.

"Brother, please have your wife clean up that room upstairs. I want to rest now."

After staying up late for several days in a row, she was so tired that she didn't even want to take a shower; she just wanted to collapse into bed and sleep immediately.

"Alright, alright, I'll have your sister-in-law tidy up your room right now."

As the brother and sister came out of the study, the elderly Su couple's eyes lit up, and Su Jun gave his wife a wink.

Grandma Cheng glanced at it, then chuckled and patted the spot next to her.

"Xiao Chun, come sit here with your mother. I saw you at the Huo family's house today and I noticed you've lost a lot of weight. You went straight to the study with your brother as soon as you got back. I wonder what you had to talk about."

Her tone was a mix of reproach and heartache.

"Are you hungry? How about your sister-in-law makes you a bowl of pork hock noodles?"

"Mom, I'm not hungry. Tell my sister-in-law to hurry up and prepare the guest room. I'm so sleepy and tired!"

She sat slumped next to Old Lady Cheng, her eyes closed and her face showing exhaustion.

Looking at her youngest daughter's haggard face, Old Mrs. Cheng looked up at Su Jun, shook her head, and reached out to touch her hair.

She looked coldly at Kim Min, who sat motionless to the side, her face showing impatience.

"Jin Min, have some sense! Hurry up and tidy up the guest room so Xiao Chun can get some rest!"

"Um!"

Jin Min pursed her lips and didn't say anything more. She got up and went upstairs.

The next morning, Su Chengdong brought Su Chun to the law firm.

"This is your brother Qin's friend. In the Taipei legal profession, he's considered one of those people!"

Su Chengdong gave a thumbs up.

"That's amazing?"

After a night's rest, Su Chun felt much better. Hearing from his older brother that he was Qin Ge's friend, she felt even more confident.

Among her older brother's group of friends, only Brother Qin is worth mentioning; the others are not worth discussing.

The two were led to an office by the receptionist.

The man in the office was sitting in his office chair with his back to them, making a phone call.
