Chapter 54 Telephone

Qin Suisui could clearly see the installation workers coming out of Wen Zong's office.

"Keep pulling back!"

Her expression grew increasingly solemn. At that moment, Wen Zong received the news and entered the monitoring room.

He saw the installation worker sneaking into his office in the surveillance footage and gasped in shock.

"Qin Lu, my door is locked."

He remembered clearly that he happened to meet with the major shareholder of Meikai Holdings on the day the surveillance cameras were installed. The legal profession is inherently very confidential, especially in places like offices, where people have long been accustomed to locking the doors.

Wen Zong was utterly incredulous to see the worker installing the surveillance equipment swaggering in like that.

"Qin law?"

Seeing Qin Lu frowning and staring intently at the monitor without saying a word, he appeared slightly anxious.

"I know you locked the door."

Qin Suisui turned her head and glanced at him.

“Wen Lu, come closer and take a look.”

She looked at Xu Ming: "Director Xu, please play that part again."

As the installation workers pushed the door open, he shouted, "Stop! This is it!"

Qin Suisui pointed to the installer's hand as he pushed the door open and said, "Did you see that? He has a key in his hand."

She could tell clearly that the installer was definitely a skilled locksmith, and might have been a criminal who committed burglary in the past.

"He opened the door with a key."

Wen Zong raised his voice, which was unusual for him.

"Um!"

Qin Suisui slowly stood up: "Director Xu, could you please make a copy of this video for me?"

“Wen Lu, come to my office with me to discuss this.”

Wen Zong followed Qin Lu to her office. As soon as he sat down, he heard Qin Suisui speak softly.

“Wen Lu, the files on your office computer may have been stolen.”

"I've considered that too."

The surveillance video clearly showed that the thief disguised as a worker stayed in his office for more than three minutes, enough time to copy all the important files from his computer.

"Lawyer Qin, thankfully you let me set the core confidential documents in the mobile phone software."

Qin Suisui nodded: "However, all the defense procedures before the trial still need to be readjusted, including replacing all the witness testimonies."

Although she had taken precautions, she still had to spend a lot of effort to organize some basic documents from scratch.

"Since the court date cannot be changed, let's go through all the documents."

"Lawyer Qin, what should we do with the thief in the surveillance footage?"

Wen Zong was somewhat annoyed. Although the theft of the documents occurred at the company, it was due to his poor safekeeping. If Qin Lu hadn't told him never to leave core information in the office, he would have faced an irreparable disaster.

"What should we do?"

Qin Suisui curled her lips and sneered, "Leave him alone for now, and don't alert them. Let them think we don't know the documents have been stolen yet."

"We will file a police report on the day of the court hearing."

"I see."

Wen Lu finally smiled and stood up to look at Qin Suisui.

"Attorney Qin, I'll go back to my office first and prepare all the trial materials again."

"Okay, go back and tidy up."

Qin Suisui watched as the door closed tightly, and sighed softly. There was something she hadn't told Wen Zong.

Director Dong just called. The Huating Power board has a lot of controversy over the lawsuit against Huating Power. In order to quell the controversy, President Yang has been forced to agree that if they lose the first instance, their law firm will be replaced.

Based on this incident, Qin Suisui has reason to believe that Huating Power colluded with outsiders in the Malaysian boiler project to reap huge profits.

Faced with an unknown outcome, she took out a blank sheet of paper and started with the human resources structure of Huating. Based on the chain of interests, she screened the beneficiaries and finally narrowed it down to a few people.

"After the trial, someone will naturally step forward in a fit of rage."

Qin Suisui handled the document leak incident calmly, but in the afternoon she unexpectedly received a call from Qin Zhen.

"Sui Sui, are you going back to Nancheng for the Chinese New Year this year?"

Qin Zhen's tired voice carried a hint of ingratiation.

“Dad dreamed about your mother last night. Your mother kept whispering in my ear that she was worried about your important life event.”

He wasn't lying when he said that. Twenty years later, he dreamed of Sui Sui's mother for the first time, and saw his ex-wife's face so clearly.

Because of the dream he had last night, he has been in a daze all day.

In the afternoon, I finally couldn't resist and called my eldest daughter.

"I'm going home for Chinese New Year this year."

Upon hearing her father's voice, Qin Suisui remained silent for a moment before speaking.

"I've returned to China and am now working in Huating."

"What? You're back in China and already working in Huating? Why didn't you tell Dad?"

Qin Zhen was so surprised that he kept asking questions.

The thought that his eldest daughter had been back in China for so long without him even saying goodbye instantly dissipated the rare paternal tenderness he had felt earlier.

"Qin Suisui, speak up!"

Seeing that there was no sound from the other end of the microphone, his anger gradually rose.

"I know!"

Qin Suisui gave a dismissive "hmm".

“I just returned to China and have just finished handing over my new job. There are still many things that haven’t started smoothly yet. I was planning to call home in the next few days, and it’s just in time for you to call me.”

She didn't want to explain further and gave a perfunctory reply.

Hearing her eldest daughter's weak explanation, Qin Zhen wanted to get angry but had nowhere to vent her anger.

It's been five years, and Sui Sui hasn't returned to Nancheng even once. It's unrealistic to say she doesn't miss her eldest daughter at all.

However, with his youngest daughter by his side, and Wang Fang always being subservient to him, he devoted more of his attention and time to the mother and daughter.

In addition, his plans to move to Beicheng, which he had been working on for the past few years, fell through, so he completely gave up his ambitions and focused all his attention on their little family.

Thinking of this, a sense of guilt rose in his heart.

"cough!"

Qin Zhen cleared his throat and said in a deliberately generous manner.

"Dad knows you're busy with work, so I won't hold it against you. But you have to come home for Chinese New Year this year!"

"Okay! I understand!"

"..."

After hanging up Sui Sui's call, Qin Zhen was momentarily lost in thought.

His colleagues in the office said enviously, "Old Qin, is your Sui Sui coming home for the New Year this year? You're going to be so lucky!"

"No, no!"

Qin Zhen spoke with a smile.

"I don't expect her to be filial to me. As long as she is doing well and her work is going smoothly, I will be at ease."

"Your Sui Sui is a good child, good at studying and good at her job. Oh, by the way..."

A colleague asked curiously, "Which law firm does Sui Sui work at in Huating?"

"His name seems to be Luo Dunluxing."

Qin Zhen vaguely remembered that Sui Sui had just told him the name of the law firm.

"Luo Dunluxing!"

My colleague was full of energy and opened the computer's search interface.

"Old Qin, let me search for this law firm for you and see what it's like."
