Chapter 93 Trajectory

Seeing that the old man was out of danger, Huo Zhongyuan left the ward after he fell asleep.

He had just stepped out of the hospital when he heard hurried footsteps behind him.

"Xiao Yuan, wait for me."

Upon hearing the familiar voice, Huo Zhongyuan turned around casually, his face expressionless and his voice cold.

"What's up?"

Huo Jiakai was slightly out of breath. He looked up at his handsome and tall eldest son and smiled slightly, thinking of what he was about to say.

He quickly thought of his own interests and those in his family, and still forced himself to speak.

"Xiao Yuan, I hope you will reject your grandfather's suggestion!"

Upon hearing this, Huo Zhongyuan lowered his head and chuckled softly, but when he raised his head, his expression was icy cold.

"You should talk to him about this, not me. I already refused. The key to getting him to change his mind lies in how you persuade him."

"As for why I don't have that much energy."

As the two were talking, the car that was there to pick up Huo Zhongyuan arrived at the hospital roadside. The driver got out of the car and stood aside to wait.

Huo Jiakai glanced at the well-trained driver and could tell that this was the car that had come to pick up Xiao Yuan. The car itself was rather plain, but the license plate started with A8. He then looked at the numbers following the 8 and looked at Huo Zhongyuan with surprise.

"Xiao Yuan, what's this?"

"If there's nothing else, I'll be going now."

Huo Zhongyuan ignored his father in a physiological sense and walked to the side of the road. Seeing this, the driver quickly opened the car door, waited for Huo Zhongyuan to sit down, then closed the door, walked around the front of the car and got in. The car then slowly moved forward.

Huo Jiakai watched the departing car, a hint of sadness appearing on his usually gentle face.

He knew he had done something utterly awful, but he had already let Wei Ran and Xiao Yuan down, so he couldn't let Su Chun and the other children down as well.

Then, thinking about how rash his father's decision was, without any regard for his and the other children's feelings, a throbbing pain shot through his temples.

He had just reached the door of the ward when Su Chun called him from behind.

"Jiakai, did he agree?"

Huo Jiakai turned around and slowly shook his head: "Xiao Yuan doesn't care. He told us to talk to the old man ourselves."

"Hmph, I knew he wouldn't agree to give all 27% of the shares to that guy."

Su Chun swallowed the curse that almost escaped her lips and said with suppressed anger, "You are the old man's only son, yet he only left you 15% of the shares. What was the old man thinking? Has he gone mad?"

"Su Chun, watch your attitude!"

Huo Jiakai frowned as he looked at his wife, who was full of complaints. His usually elegant face now looked somewhat ferocious.

“My father has just been out of danger. Even if he did something wrong, it’s not something you can criticize.”

"Okay, I understand!"

Huo Jiakai's accusations jolted Su Chun awake. In recent days, the old man's irrational behavior had also caused her to lose her usual composure.

“Take Zhongmou and the others to your father’s bedside a few more times to show him filial piety. I believe he will change his attitude.”

"Uncle Jiang just said that once my dad's health improves, he will also help us persuade the old man."

"As for Xiao Yuan, I will still contact him. But you should control yourself and pay attention to your attitude. You should know what to say and what not to say. I don't need to remind you."

"I know, I was just angry."

Su Chun finally breathed a sigh of relief. From Jia Kai's attitude, it was clear that he still favored her and her children.

——————

The next day was Lunar New Year's Eve. When Qin Suisui opened her eyes, it was already bright outside. Looking out the window, she could see that snowflakes were still falling, but much lighter than the day before. From her angle, the rooftops in the distance were covered with thick layers of snow, a vast expanse of white.

The faint sounds of Qin's father and Aunt Wang talking could be heard from the living room, and the aroma of stir-fried dishes filled the air.

Qin Suisui raised her hand from the desk, picked up her phone, and glanced at it.

It was already 8 a.m., and there were several unread messages. She quickly clicked to filter them, and one of them was a message sent by her senior brother Huo in the early morning.

The message said that he suddenly had something to do last night and went to Beicheng, and would contact her today.

Knowing that the other person was alright and hadn't intentionally stopped contacting her, she inexplicably breathed a sigh of relief, threw back the covers, and found the clothes she was going to wear that day in the closet to change into.

Qin Suisui opened the door, and Qin's father and Aunt Wang, who were sitting on the sofa, stopped talking.

"Sui Sui, you're finally up!"

"If you don't get up, your dad won't even bother making breakfast!"

Wang Fang's tone of voice always carried a sour undertone, making people extremely uncomfortable.

Qin Zhen glanced at Wang Fang, ignored her, and looked at Qin Suisui with a smile.

"Sui Sui, what do you want to eat for breakfast? Dad will make it for you right now."

"Anything is fine with me!"

Qin Suisui didn't take it seriously: "After I finish breakfast, I'm going to Nangang to pay respects at my mother's and grandfather's graves. Dad, can I borrow your car for a while?"

"I'll go with you!"

Qin Zhen's words surprised not only Qin Suisui, but also Wang Fang's face darkened.

Wang Fang has been married to Qin Zhen for many years, and what pleases her most is Qin Zhen's indifference towards his deceased ex-wife's family.

In previous years, Qin Zhen would make all sorts of excuses to decline before Qin Suisui could even bring it up. This year, however, she actually took the initiative to suggest going together? She suddenly felt a strong sense of crisis.

Her smile was stiff.

"Didn't you say you were going to come with me to pay respects to Grandma?"

"I've already talked to Dad. My mom's plans are for this afternoon, and I'll go with Qin Ran and the others then."

"Really? How come I didn't know that?"

Wang Fang laughed through gritted teeth, her gaze sweeping over Qin Suisui with resentment.
