Chapter 11 "Close your eyes." A deep, resonant voice suddenly rang in my ears.

In an instant, several giant chelicerae suddenly appeared in front of the dark window, followed by a pair of eerie and sinister spider eyes.

Alien!

Lin Dao quickly made a judgment, put down the Bretta in his arms and pushed her behind him. At the same time, he drew the gun he was carrying and frantically pulled the trigger towards the spider that was nearly three or four meters tall and had already crashed through the wall connected to the window!

"Run!" he yelled, turning to the survivor he'd visited earlier that day and to Bryta. The man turned and ran away in fright, while Bryta, weakened by a night of running, could only lean against the wall as he saw the spider-like creature that had been chasing him all night.

He truly had no strength left to run. Just then, something moved inside his clothes—the rose vine that had helped him escape through the window. Perhaps sensing Lin Dao's danger at the same time, it quickly retreated into Blaita's clothes the moment the window broke.

At this moment, Lin Dao, who had no time to pay attention to himself, looked at the huge object in front of him. He didn't have many bullets with him when he went out. After he finished firing, he immediately threw away the gun. Before the spider's webs could reach him, he quickly turned to the side, kicked off the wall, and used the momentum to jump into the air. In that instant, he drew the long knife behind him.

The blade of this knife had been treated, making it exceptionally sharp, capable of cutting through iron like mud. He leaped forward, unleashing a flash of cold light, successfully severing one of its pincers! The spider, instantly enraged by the pain, frantically spat out several strands of silk at him!

Lin Dao was agile, dodging several attacks before being caught in a tightly bound web. Unable to break free, he raised his blade and slashed through the spider silk, only to find many white spider threads still clinging to the blade. He then retreated to escape. His eyes darkened as he quickly analyzed the strengths and weaknesses of this spider species in his mind. In less than a second, he leaped up and attacked the spider's side and back, where its movements were slowed.

Meanwhile, Bretta, leaning against the wall, was breathing heavily, his brow furrowed in pain from the bullet wound in his shoulder. Strangely, some of the small cuts he had sustained during his escape seemed to be slowly healing on their own. He watched in astonishment as a three- or four-centimeter wound on the back of his hand gradually shrank and healed.

The rose vines in his arms seemed to sense the changes in his body. Bryta reached out his right hand to touch the gunshot wound on his left shoulder, where it seemed to be bleeding constantly and was difficult to heal because of the bullet.

Bretta watched Lin Dao intently dealing with the spider, realizing it was no match for him. The spider's unusually rapid healing, clearly inhuman, made him even more worried about being exposed. Bretta awkwardly reached up to support his shoulder and turned to leave through the front door.

He needs to leave here as soon as possible.

However, as soon as he turned the corner and entered the corridor, he stopped abruptly. A few meters away on the other side of the corridor stood another man, Wiz, who had been chasing him.

A cold smile appeared on Wiz's lips. He reached out and drew a dagger from the holster on his leg. Looking at him, he didn't say a word, and quickly lunged at him.

Britta frowned and awkwardly dodged to the side, while at the same time, the vines in her arms swiftly wrapped around Wiz's dagger.

However, the opponent unexpectedly swung a knife and severed the vines!

Bryta was startled, as if he could feel the vine's pain. He gritted his teeth, and the vine, as he had imagined, swung out of the stairwell and up the stairs. Bryta immediately grabbed it and nimbly climbed up to the next floor.

His survival instinct made him move extremely quickly, and he climbed several floors in no time.

But that Wiz was also extremely skilled; he was able to use the railings between floors to keep up with him.

Bretta felt he was about to collapse. His hands trembled as he gripped the vine tightly, but he could also sense that the rose vine was about to give way and was becoming increasingly weak.

In the pitch-black night, the Blaita hanging outside the building was whipped against my face by the biting, knife-like wind.

He could feel the sinister, beast-like man below him relentlessly pursuing him, and dared not relax for a moment. Suddenly, a hand gripped his foot tightly. His heart skipped a beat, and he kicked hard, but he couldn't shake it off. A rose vine quickly split off, revealing sharp thorns, and pierced Witz's hand. Seeing that he wouldn't let go, it wrapped around his hand and twisted it fiercely!

"Ugh!" The man groaned in pain, unconsciously letting go, and at the same time viciously used the knife to cut off another section of the vine!

As if in pain, the vine suddenly recoiled, and Bleta's heart tightened; she quickly climbed upwards.

Lin Dao, with a final burst of strength, plunged his long sword deep into the spider's body. During the battle, he had quickly contacted Cheng Cheng via communicator, ordering him to bring reinforcements. He also sensed that someone else was chasing Blaita.

He didn't have time to sheathe his sword; he teleported behind Wiz and kicked him hard in the back! Wiz was kicked four or five meters away and crashed into the corridor wall.

He barely managed to steady himself and turned around. The old building in the slum was dilapidated and the corridor was completely dark. Weiss couldn't see the face of the man wearing a hat in front of him. He slowly stood up, wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth where he had been kicked, and looked at the man who had come out of nowhere to ruin his plans with a sinister gaze. He felt that the man's figure looked somewhat familiar.

When Lin Dao turned around, he couldn't see the other person's face clearly either. But he could barely guess from the figure that this man was the one in the tweed coat from the boxing ring.

He moved swiftly forward, ready to take him down, but the other party seemed unwilling to fight. After dodging him, he immediately flipped over, grabbed the railing with both hands, and jumped up!

Lin Dao was startled and turned his head to look up. The other person had disappeared in just a few seconds.

His goal is—Brata!

In a panic, Blaita managed to escape through several more buildings and was now on a rooftop somewhere. He felt a burning pain in his chest, as if the air was leaking through it.

However, he dared not relax and prepared to use the same trick again. But when he looked around, he didn't know how he got there. The building was nearly five or six stories high, and the building opposite was more than twenty meters away from him.

He reached out to encouragely touch the rose vine in his arms, but the little thing refused and desperately tried to burrow deeper into his arms.

Just then, he suddenly heard a sound rapidly approaching from behind him in the stairwell. With his keen sense of smell, he almost immediately knew it was the man who had been chasing him.

He turned pale with fright, clutching the rose vine in his arms and backing away step by step. He turned around and looked down from the nearly twenty-meter-high building, swallowing hard in fear.

It seems they have no choice but to climb further. Bleta is afraid of revealing her non-human identity and doesn't want to revert to her original form outside unless absolutely necessary, but now…

Hearing footsteps approaching, the man reached out and grasped the iron gate connecting the stairwell to the rooftop. His heart tightened, and he turned around, leaning back as if to transform back into his original form and leap downstairs.

In that instant, he was suddenly pulled into the arms of the man who appeared behind him.

"Close your eyes." A deep, resonant voice suddenly sounded in my ear.

He only recognized the other person from that pleasant scent, completely forgetting that he was just about to transform, when the man was already holding him and plunging him backwards towards a building nearly twenty meters high—

"!" He was so frightened that he closed his eyes tightly and clung to the man.

As they plummeted downwards, the biting wind whipped across their faces, and the two disappeared into the night sky at the same time.

The next moment, Wiz flung open the door, revealing an empty rooftop in the night.

"Aren't you going to let go?" The man's pleasant voice rang in his ears again.

Bleta felt the solid ground beneath her feet, cautiously opened her eyes, and suddenly found herself standing with this man at an unfamiliar intersection.

"Just now we..."

"Lower the equipment," Lin Dao casually remarked calmly.

Upon hearing this, Bretta, who knew nothing about the current state of human technology, widened her eyes slightly and exclaimed, "Wow, that's amazing..."

The boy, now completely relaxed, suddenly leaned against him and passed out.

Lin Dao frowned, smelling a strong metallic odor that stimulated his sense of taste.

He looked down and suddenly saw a large patch of blood seeping onto his shoulder.

Was he shot? Judging from the wound, it must have been before we met.

They actually held out for so long?

He immediately scooped Bryta up in his arms and contacted Cheng Cheng, who was nearby to provide backup: "Bring the car over here, quick!"

When Bletta woke up, he struggled to open his eyes and could only see the white ceiling above him. He felt sore all over, and when he tried to sit up, his shoulder hurt terribly. He turned his head in surprise and saw his shoulder wrapped in white gauze and a transparent tube slinging to his right hand. He slowly looked up and saw a clear glass bottle at the very top of the tube.

Bretta was shocked. Where was she?! Had he been taken back to the lab?

On a whim, a rose vine, which had been hiding in some corner, suddenly sprang up his white hospital bed and snuggled into his arms.

He could only sense the general emotions of the rose vine; at this moment, it seemed just as bewildered as he was.

He quickly reached out and forcefully pulled out the needle stuck in the back of his hand, then immediately rolled over and got out of bed. He glanced at the front door, then habitually looked up at the ceiling of the room to see if there were any hidden entrances.

The roses wrapped around him stretched out their petals and pushed against the entrance of the interlayer, then a second later, they suddenly withdrew, as if they had smelled something and shook their heads frantically at Bryta in disgust.

Bryta was startled, feeling utterly powerless. He probably couldn't maintain his human form any longer, and escaping through the mezzanine was safer and more concealed than escaping through the door.

Sensing his hesitation, the rose nodded regretfully and darted back to his chest, pressing itself tightly against him.

Bretta thought for a moment, then laboriously pulled the bedside table toward the mezzanine entrance, stepped on it shakily, stood on tiptoe, and stretched out her uninjured hand to pry open the mesh cover, preparing to shrink and deform in one go and rush up.

"What are you doing?" Lin Dao pushed open the door and looked at him coldly.

Bretta shuddered at the sound, her body stiffening. She slowly turned around, and when she saw it was him, her heart, which had been in her throat, finally calmed down.

He sheepishly pulled the net cover back up, withdrew his hand, and stepped barefoot off the bedside table onto the floor, too timid to speak.

Lin Dao glanced indifferently at his toes, which were red from the cold, and walked in carrying warm food.

Noticing his gaze and smelling the food in his hand, Blaita immediately and obediently moved the bedside table back to its original position.

Lin Dao walked over, put down the food, and after a while, said, "This is Xiang You's private hospital, it's very safe."

Bryta paused, staring longingly at the food he had put down, then nodded and whispered in response, "...Oh."

Noticing his subtle glance, Lin Dao's lips curled slightly: "Eat."

“!” Bryta’s eyes lit up, and he quickly reached out to grab the food box.

"After you finish eating, tell me honestly what exactly happened?"

Bretta, whose little mouth had just touched the hot food: "..."

Tata: Men's words are deceiving! QAQ

Klingdale: Who taught you that?!

Tata: ...To, to You. (Quickly betrays his teammate)
