Chapter 50 50

Chapter 50 50

Zombies can drive, understand human language, and communicate - if they were anywhere else, no one would believe it.

But right now, the people in this camp are Wen Yi's research team.

The soldiers responsible for protecting Dr. Wen all know that there are zombies in the world that still retain human thoughts and rationality, and they currently have one in their team.

Because of this, Xue Ling was not shot by the sniper immediately. A group of soldiers simply surrounded her car.

Wen Yi came over wearing a coat, walked past a group of soldiers with guns, and walked towards the car that was forced to stop.

The soldier who went to tell her the news followed her closely, holding the loot.

"The zombie who can drive is in this car?" Wen Yi said, "Get him out of the car first so I can take a look."

Another soldier standing guard at the car said, "Dr. Wen, we just asked the people in the car to get out, but they refused to cooperate."

"Should we forcefully break open the car door and get the person out?"

The last words were still ringing when the tightly closed car window opened and a pale face belonging to a zombie popped out.

In this photo, we can see that the pair of dark red eyes on the once beautiful young woman's face are now looking at the protected Wen Yi.

The soldier who was speaking thought that the people in the car were forced out by him, but he saw that she was staring at Wen Yi, as if she had confirmed something and became suddenly excited.

She looked back frantically in the car, found a writing board, and began to write on it.

Soon, she leaned the writing board out of the car window, and on it were two crooked words "Wen Yi" and a question mark.

"Do you know me?" Wen Yi took two steps forward with some surprise.

Xue Ling finally remembered to open the car door, but before she could open it, a blue hand was placed on the window.

It was clearly a man's hand, and there was another zombie in the car.

Wen Yi ignored the nervous soldiers around her and walked to the car window to look inside. At such a close distance, she could clearly see Wen Jiuze in the car.

She raised her eyebrows unexpectedly, her expression still indifferent: "Wen Jiuzhe?"

She turned her gaze to Xue Ling again, and finally remembered who she was: "You are Wen Jiuze's former girlfriend in Yu City."

She remembered that Wen Jiuze liked his girlfriend very much. When she first learned about this, she was very surprised and went to take a look at her.

Xue Ling nodded. She looked at Wen Yi and felt as if she had been saved from a desperate situation.

Wen Yi took the stick from the soldier next to him, lifted up Wen Jiuze's hand that was resting on the edge of the car window and observed it.

"Wen Jiuze has been infected with the zombie virus? It looks like he's been infected for a while... Is he still conscious?"

"Yes!" Xue Ling wrote immediately.

Wen Jiuze spoke just now!

She pushed open the car door and scribbled on the clipboard: "Save him! Help!"

Vaccines, Taisui... everything is good, please save Wen Jiutie!

Wen Yi used the stick in her hand to carefully tap Wen Jiuze: "Wen Jiuze, are you still conscious? Speak."

Wen Jiuze slowly raised his head and looked at her with a pair of dark red eyes.

After looking at each other for a moment, he twitched the corner of his mouth.

"Wen...Yi."

Wen Yi took back the stick: "Come two people, take him back to the camp."

"You come too." He said to Xue Ling again.

A moment later, in a temporary tent, Wen Yi looked at the two people opposite and said, "I did have a Tai Sui in my hand before, but that Tai Sui has been eaten."

She ignored their disappointed looks, turned around, took out a refrigerated box and opened it: "But I still have two more medicines here."

"The team on the left is led by my teacher. I worked with them to develop the zombie virus vaccine. It's the latest achievement."

"After being infected with the zombie virus, the sooner you inject it, the better the effect... In your current state, there may be a one in ten chance of recovery, but it is more likely that you will become an ordinary zombie."

"The medicine on the right was extracted from Wen Xuan's body."

"There is only this one, and it has not been tested. I don't know what will happen after the injection, but according to my speculation, you will most likely become a zombie with your sanity preserved."

"The two medicines have a rejection reaction and cannot be used together. You can only choose one. Choose it."

Wen Jiuze's condition was already very bad. He was carried to sit in this position in this tent. He didn't react at all when Wen Yi spoke. I wonder if he couldn't understand what she said.

Xue Ling, who was sitting next to him, still had one hand handcuffed to his, and couldn't help but hold his hand.

She stared at the two injections in front of her, feeling that both of them were dead ends filled with uncertainty.

She tried to calm herself down and think about which one would be better.

But Wen Jiuze did not give her this difficult choice. He reached out with difficulty, picked up the medicine on the right, and injected himself directly.

Xue Ling watched the medicine in the injection disappear, closed her eyes, and leaned on Wen Jiuze's shoulder.

Wen Yi put away the medicine on the left, stood up and said, "Then you stay here and wait a few hours to see the results before discussing the rest."

If it succeeds, then they have something to cooperate on. If it fails...it's not like there's nothing to gain.

"Wen, Yi." Wen Jiuze suddenly called her.

Wen Yi stopped at the door, turned around and waited for him to continue speaking with an indifferent expression.

Wen Jiuze said, "Please, don't hurt her."

Wen Yi was finally surprised, showing a faint smile without any emotion, and glanced at Xue Ling: "You beg me? My last name is Wen, you have been in the Wen family for several years, and you have never begged for help even if you were beaten to death, but today you are begging for help."

She didn't agree, and without saying anything else, she walked out of the tent.

Xue Ling heard her say to the soldiers outside the tent: "Keep an eye on the special zombies inside. Tell me if there is any problem. If they become completely zombified and go crazy, control them first."

"Okay, Dr. Wen!"

Only Xue Ling and Wen Jiuze were left in the tent.

Xue Ling collapsed on the table in front of her, exhausted. She was too tired that day, and her overly intense emotions had consumed her.

Wen Jiuze put one hand on the back of her head.

They sit here quietly, waiting for the final judgment.

Xue Ling didn’t know what the ending would be, but she no longer considered “what if” and the future and just waited.

When daybreak comes, there is a transparent window on the top of the tent that allows sunlight to pour down and fall right onto the table.

There were quite a few people in the camp. From time to time, people passed by outside the tents, talking in low voices, and various footsteps came and went, but no one opened the tent door to see them.

Wen Yi didn't come either. The sunlight shining down from overhead began to slant, and they seemed to be forgotten here.

Xue Ling moved his hands and pulled the quiet Wen Jiuze.

Once the injection was given, he was destined to become a zombie; the only difference was whether he could retain his sanity.

After so long, his appearance had become completely zombified, but he just sat there without reacting.

Xue Ling felt uneasy again.

Did he retain his sanity?

"Ouch." She screamed and waved her hand in front of Wen Jiuze.

His eyes, the same dark red as hers, swayed as her hand and flashed twice in the sunlight.

Suddenly, he looked ferocious, stretched out his hand towards her, and let out a zombie roar, as if he had suddenly gone mad.

He had a fierce temperament to begin with, and he looked even scarier in this state. Xue Ling was so frightened by his sudden reaction that she almost wanted to cry again.

He's lost his mind! That injection didn't work!

Xue Ling just felt a pang of heartache, and suddenly realized something was wrong. His wrinkled face relaxed, and the sadness in his eyes turned into suspicion.

Don't zombies only react like this when they encounter humans? If Wen Jiuze really became an unconscious zombie, why would he "attack" her, who is also a zombie?

Wen Jiuze was still trying to scare her with his fangs and claws, but he didn't touch her.

Xue Ling: “…”

You deserve to die, you dog.

She also started to roar, and with a vicious expression, she raised her hands to hit Wen Jiuze. As soon as Wen Jiuze stopped roaring, he raised his arms, trying to block or dodge.

Xue Ling had nothing unclear at this moment. He was still rational and had just deliberately scared her.

Suddenly, Xue Ling's hammering on him became even louder.

If the people guarding outside had not heard the zombies roaring and ran in to see what was going on, Xue Ling would have been able to beat him up for a while.

When Wen Yi came in after hearing the news, Xue Ling was just thinking about it and got angry again, so he turned around and punched Wen Jiuze twice.

Wen Yi paused, then walked in as if nothing had happened and sat down opposite the two of them, across a table from them.

"Congratulations," she said as she sat down. "Although you have become a zombie, you are lucky to still be able to keep your sanity and thoughts compared to those who are completely dead."

A specially made tablet was pushed over. It had a large screen and a built-in pen, so even a zombie with stiff hands could quickly type words on it.

"Let's talk now." Wen Yi said, "You should know that the medicine is not given to you casually. You need to pay a certain price for it."

Wen Jiuze is very clear about this. Wen Yi is not the kind of good person who is willing to help others. She is a cold and rational person who doesn't even care about her own sister.

She would give him that precious injection, and she must get something in return from him.

If Wen Jiuze failed, he believed that both he and Xue Ling would become Wen Yi's experimental materials.

Of course, it may be the case now.

Without following her lead to ask about the price, Wen Jiu used the tablet in front of him to ask a question: "You said that the medicine I injected was extracted from Wen Xuan's corpse."

The voice coming out of the tablet was a female announcer with clear and melodious voice.

Xue Ling just thought the scene was a little funny, and was immediately attracted by the content of this sentence. She also remembered the information that she had ignored before.

Wen Yi did seem to have mentioned it when she introduced the vaccine, but her mind was in a mess at the time and she didn't pay attention to it.

"Yes, I went to Anxi City once before and returned to Qiu Zhuangwen's home."

Wen Yi went back for Taisui. Her research had hit a bottleneck. Just then, her teacher received her message and sent someone to pick her up to the northern base. She asked them to take her to Qiu Zhuang.

"When we arrived at Qiu Zhuang, we found that Wen Xuan had eaten Taisui and turned into a rational zombie. Unfortunately, his zombie identity was exposed and he was beaten to death." Wen Yi spoke of her cousin's death in a flat tone.

"Fortunately, the body was not yet rotten. We brought it back and processed it, and extracted the drug you used."

Wen Jiuze seemed to be very concerned about the Wen family and typed in another sentence: "How are the other members of the Wen family?"

Wen Yi said: "Something unexpected happened. Wen Xiang died, and my second uncle also died. The Wen family is almost dead."

Xue Ling thought of the time Wen Jiuze went to the Wen family last year, and turned to look at him unconsciously.

After turning into a zombie, his facial expression became even less discernible.

But based on her understanding of him, Xue Ling had a firm guess.

The accident in the Wen family might be related to Wen Jiuze.

Wen Jiuze didn't seem to feel guilty at all, but Xue Ling began to feel guilty for him. She hid her hands under the table and looked down at it.

Wen Jiuze only asked these two questions and then returned to Wen Yi's original topic.

"Then tell me the price of saving me."
