Chapter 31 The Thirty-first Day

"Hobo!"

Jiang Chen rolled over with his left hand, avoiding the wooden stick that was chopped down from the side, and quickly ran to Huo Bo's side. The two of them stood back to back. He tilted his head and asked, "Are you okay?"

Huo Bo shook his bleeding arm and calmly looked at the people surrounding him. His voice was very cold: "It's just a minor injury. We'll talk about it after the fight."

As soon as he finished speaking, he kicked over the person closest to him without waiting for anyone to react. Jiang Chen attacked almost at the same time. The two of them cooperated well and had their backs to each other, so there was almost no blind spot, and they quickly took care of these people.

There were people lying on the ground in all directions. Jiang Chen walked to Sun Zhi, whose hands were broken by Huo Bo, squatted down and said, "No matter who is behind you, remind him that those who do evil will eventually perish. Also, I'll give this to you as well."

Huo Bo stood beside Jiang Chen, looking down at Sun Zhi, and said coldly: "I remember I reminded you not to let me see you again."

Sun Zhi shuddered, moved his butt back, and said in a trembling voice: "It's not that I want to cause trouble for Jiang Chen, but someone asked me to do this..."

"Who?" Huo Bo stepped on his chest, his eyes still full of hostility.

"I can't say..."

Huo Bo increased the force of his footsteps. Sun Zhi's face turned red with pain, but he gritted his teeth and refused to let go.

"Forget it." Jiang Chen grabbed Huo Bo's injured arm, looked at it carefully, and said, "Your wound needs to be treated."

Huo Bo said nothing, and the force on his feet increased little by little. Sun Zhi coughed and struggled, but because his hands were broken, he could only rub his hands on the ground in vain.

"Huo kuang kuang." Jiang Chen crossed his arms, raised his eyebrows and smiled, saying to him, "Let's go."

Huo Bo's face changed: "I told you not to call me by that name!"

"Will you leave or not?"

Huo Bo tightened his cheeks, retracted his legs, glanced coldly at Sun Zhi on the ground, and warned in a low voice: "I'll say it one last time, don't let me see you again."

There was a group of people lying in the alley where the sun didn't reach. Two people walked into the sunlight one after the other, one with a stern expression and the other with a warm look.

Jiang Chen stopped at the door of the pharmacy, turned around and said, "Wait for me, I'll take care of your wound first."

Huo Bo stood aside with his arms folded, a cold face and not saying a word.

He and Jiang Chen grew up together, so he knew what Jiang Chen wanted to say and what he didn't want to say without asking. However, he saw such a scene just after he came back, and there seemed to be some inside stories that couldn't be known to others, which made it difficult for him not to worry. Moreover, when he came back this time, he clearly felt the changes in Jiang Chen compared to before he left, which made him want to know what had happened in the past six months.

How could Jiang Chen not know what Huo Bo was worried about and what he was feeling awkward about? He didn't say much, but just smiled and opened his arms and said, "Huo Bo, welcome back."

Huo Bo looked at him with a stern face, and locked eyes with his smiling eyes for a few seconds before he clicked his tongue, hooked his arm around his neck, and pulled him into his arms. After hugging him for a while, he let go and said, "That's so corny."

Jiang Chen shrugged and walked into the drugstore.

When he came out again, he was holding medical iodine and bandage swabs. The two of them found a random step to sit down. Jiang Chen helped him treat the wound skillfully. When he wrapped the bandage, he lowered his eyes and smiled, "I always feel that the last time I helped you bandage was decades ago."

"Exaggerated." Huo Bo also smiled a little: "Only half a year."

Jiang Chen put the remaining iodine bandage aside, propped up his arm on the ground, and looked at the road ahead with a leisurely look: "Thank you for just now."

Huo Bo said calmly: "Uncle Jiang will have surgery tomorrow. If I see you injured, I will definitely not be able to perform the surgery with peace of mind."

"I know." Jiang Chen was used to his stubbornness and said with a smile, "I'm thanking you on behalf of my father."

Huo Bo hummed softly, and after a long silence, he whispered, "I'm sorry."

Jiang Chen turned around and asked him, "What are you sorry for?"

"nothing."

"Let me guess." Jiang Chen retracted his gaze, looked at the busy traffic, and smiled faintly: "You mean to say that a lot of things happened in my family in the past six months, but you were not able to accompany me when I was most sad, right?"

"It's not as corny as you say." Huo Bo glanced at him and said.

"How about you? How have you been doing in the past six months?"

In Jiang Chen's peripheral vision, Huo Bo picked up the plastic bag from the pharmacy beside him and fiddled with it, lowering his eyes and saying nothing.

After a long while, he said calmly: "That's it."

Jiang Chen's eyes flickered slightly, and his half-closed eyelashes concealed the heartache and coldness in his eyes.

It was the same in the first life. One year after Grandma Huo passed away, Huo Bo was taken away by his biological mother. He was gone for half a year. After he came back, he seemed to have not changed at all except that he spoke less. It seemed that those six months had been uneventful.

At that time, he was so preoccupied with family affairs that he had no extra energy to pay attention to the differences among his good friends. Later, Shen Xu mentioned it to him several times, and he asked Huo Bo directly. When he got his “nothing” answer, he did not think much about it. It was not until a long time later, when Huo Bo had become successful and his mother’s side came to visit him, that he knew what Huo Bo had experienced in the past six months.

However, Huo Bo in the first life would not say that the same is true in this life.

He didn't need to ask any further questions, because some things, no matter how much others said or when they said it, could not help relieve the pain of the person involved. Only time and himself could heal the wound.

Moreover, he would never let what happened to Huo Bo in the first life happen again.

Jiang Chen changed the subject: "Go back to school, Chen Xu will definitely be happy to see you."

"Forget it today." Huo Bo looked at the bandage on his hand, pulled the corner of his mouth and said, "I'll go to the western suburbs to see grandma first."

Jiang Chen stood up, turned around, stretched out his hand, and said seriously, "Huo Bo, say it again, welcome back, Shen Xu and I missed you very much."

Huo Bo took his hand and stood up. They both exerted force at the same time. As their chests collided, Huo Bo whispered, "I'm back."

After they separated, Jiang Chen stopped a car on the roadside and went to Yan City Second Hospital. When he walked into the lobby of the inpatient department, he paused and adjusted his clothes in front of the mirror at the door.

A familiar figure in the mirror walked by, and Jiang Chen turned around and called the man: "Doctor Shi."

Shi Fengyue stopped. He was wearing a black shirt and black pants. His jet-black hair was tucked under a baseball cap. His exposed neck and chin formed a sharp contrast with the black clothes, and they were so white that they were almost transparent.

Jiang Chen knew that Shi Fengyue had fair skin before, but he had never felt such a strong shock as he did now. What caught his attention more was Shi Fengyue's almost bloody lips and the way he seemed to be more afraid of cold than ordinary people.

It is almost June now, and the temperature today has reached 30 degrees. Shi Fengyue is wearing a black sweatshirt which is not too thin, which makes him stand out among the people passing by who are all dressed lightly.

Shi Fengyue looked lazy, and when he was called, he just lazily asked, "What's the matter?"

Jiang Chen frowned: "Doctor Shi, are you feeling unwell?"

"No." Shi Fengyue said calmly: "Anything else?"

Jiang Chen nodded and asked about the business: "I just received a call from the hospital saying that my father's preoperative examination was abnormal. I wanted to ask you about his condition."

Shi Fengyue raised his eyes and said, "The nurse mistakenly took your father's test results with someone else's, but the intern discovered it soon after. Has he informed you?"

Jiang Chen's eyes flickered: "The nurse must have been anxious and informed me directly."

Shi Fengyue narrowed his eyes slightly, as if thinking about something.

After a few seconds, he asked, "Where's your mother?"

"The call is not going through." Jiang Chen asked, "Did you see her today?"

"No..." Shi Fengyue looked past Jiang Chen and raised his chin: "It's there."

Jiang Chen turned around and followed Shi Fengyue's line of sight, and happened to see Yang Si walking into the door of the inpatient department. He nodded to Shi Fengyue: "Then I'll leave. Sorry to bother you."

Shi Fengyue nodded slightly, then walked away.

Jiang Chen caught up with Yang Si and called out, "Mom."

Yang Si turned back in surprise: "Chenchen? Why are you here?"

"The hospital called and said there were some problems with my father's examination, so I asked for leave from my teacher and came here. I just met Dr. Shi in front and found out that the nurse got the wrong report." Jiang Chen asked, "Neither the nurse nor I could get through to you. Where have you been?"

"When I was delivering lunch to your dad at noon and was heading home, my phone was stolen on the bus." Yang Si raised her hand, revealing the bag in her hand. "This is my mom's new phone. The clerk said it's the latest model. You can give your phone to mom later and you can use this new one."

Jiang Chen smiled and said, "I don't really need to use my phone at school, so you can just use it yourself."

"No." Yang Si stuffed the bag into Jiang Chen's hands, took his arm and said with a smile: "Other children have new mobile phones, so of course my Chenchen should have one too."

Jiang Chen grabbed the bag in his hand, a smile on his face: "Thank you, Mom."

"You're welcome." Yang Si pulled him and said, "Since you're at the hospital, go upstairs and see your dad. Last night when you were taking extra classes, he was still wondering if you would be hungry when you got home. In fact, he just missed you."

Jiang Chen nodded: "I miss him too."

After staying in Jiang Zhuo's ward for the entire afternoon and having dinner with him, Jiang Chen left the hospital.

When he was almost home, Jiang Chen received a call from He Qianmin.

There was a strange voice over there: "Hello, are you He Qianmin's brother?"

Jiang Chen paused while turning the key, remained silent for a few seconds, and then asked, "What's the matter?"

"He Qianmin is in the hospital, can you come over?"

Jiang Chen frowned, pulled out his key and turned around and asked, "Which hospital? How is he?"

"Yenchi University Affiliated Hospital." The other end said, "Don't worry, he's fine. He just got drunk and accidentally cut his hand. The wound is quite deep and needs stitches."

"Take care of him first, I'll be right there."

Thirty minutes later, the car stopped in front of the Yanda Affiliated Hospital.

Jiang Chen walked quickly into the emergency room and saw several boys wearing Chenghua school uniforms without much trouble.

He walked over and asked, "How is He Qianmin?"

Several boys were startled when they saw him, and one of them hesitated and asked, "Excuse me, who are you?"

"The person who answered the phone thirty minutes ago."

"Ah?" The boys looked at each other in bewilderment: "Isn't He Qianmin's brother He Qianjian from the high school department?"

"Yes, He Qianjian doesn't look like this..."

Jiang Chen was about to speak when he heard He Qianmin's voice from behind him: "Brother?"

Jiang Chen turned around and saw He Qianmin standing three meters away from him, with the right sleeve of his school uniform shirt rolled up, bandages wrapped from his elbow to his wrist, and his face was pale.

Seeing that it was really Jiang Chen, He Qianmin was surprised and delighted: "Why are you here?"

Jiang Chen walked to about half a meter away from him and smelled the alcohol on him. He frowned and asked, "What's wrong with your hand?"

He Qianmin's face changed slightly, he avoided his gaze, pursed his lips and said, "I was drunk and accidentally grabbed the fruit knife."
