Chapter 72: The Seventy-Second Day

Before the first class in the afternoon, Jiang Chen was confused for a moment when Fu Jinyu told him that the head teacher of Class 1, Grade 1, was looking for him. However, when he stood at the door of the office and saw the two boys standing at the foot of the wall, he understood.

Jiang Chen knocked on the door gently: "Hello, I am He Qianmin's brother, Jiang Chen."

Sitting at the desk at the door, the female teacher, who was about 30 years old, pushed up her glasses and looked up: "Student Jiang Chen? Come in."

He Qianmin turned around when she heard the voice, and met Jiang Chen's gaze. She pursed her lips guiltily, but a hint of relaxed smile appeared in her eyes.

"Please take a seat." Teacher He looked Jiang Chen up and down, and said in an ambiguous tone, "When He Qianmin said you were his brother, I thought he was lying. I didn't expect Jiang Chen to really come."

Jiang Chen sat down opposite the teacher, his lips curled up slightly, and said with a smile: "Teacher He, my brother may not behave very well, but he never lies, I am sure of this."

Teacher He did not comment: "I have always heard that Jiang Chen is an only child, and He Qianmin is yours...?"

"My dear brother."

"Student Jiang Chen." Teacher He came back to his senses and said seriously, "I know you have good grades, but if you lie, I won't allow it here. Besides, He Qianmin is my student. I need to explain his situation to his family so that he can grow better. It won't do him any good if you come here and pretend to be his brother."

The man who had just raised his leg to step into the office paused, retracted his leg, and waited calmly to see how the boy inside would explain.

Jiang Chen smiled gently and said to He Qianmin: "Qianmin, come here."

He Qianmin walked to Jiang Chen obediently: "Brother."

Jiang Chen: "Squat down a little and smile."

He Qianmin was puzzled, but he did as he was told.

Jiang Chen tilted his head slightly, facing Teacher He at the same angle as He Qianmin, with dimples faintly visible at the corners of his mouth: "Don't you think He Qianmin and I are brothers?"

Teacher He's eyes shuttled between the two faces that were nearly 90% similar. His gaze fell on the identical dimples on their faces. He couldn't help but believe it: "Are you really brothers? But..."

"I can prove that they are indeed brothers." The man knocked on the office door with a smile on his face. After saying this, he walked in and stretched out his hand, saying, "Teacher He, right? I am Shi Fengyue, Shi Ao's uncle."

Teacher He immediately stood up, held Shi Fengyue's hand, and said gently: "Hello, Mr. Shi, I am He Yuan, the head teacher of Shi Ao."

Shi Fengyue nodded slightly, and when he lowered his head, his eyes met Jiang Chen who was looking at him with raised eyebrows. He blinked gently, and Jiang Chen looked away, lowered his eyes and smiled softly.

Teacher He didn't notice the two's little movements. His eyes stayed on Shi Fengyue's face for a few seconds, and he remembered the question just now: "Mr. Shi, you said you can prove that Jiang Chen and Shi Ao are brothers. How do you prove it?"

Although he was still trying to get to the bottom of the matter, his tone was much softer than before.

Shi Fengyue's lips curled slightly, and the smile in his eyes faded a little: "Our family and the He family are old friends. He Qianmin and Shi Ao grew up together. Do you need me to call He Qianmin's father He Yanfeng to prove to you that I am telling the truth?"

Teacher He saw that Shi Fengyue had already taken out his phone. Thinking of what she had heard before about Shi Ao and He Qianmin's family background, she immediately shook her head and said, "No need."

However, if He Qianmin is Jiang Chen's biological brother, then what about the car accident that caused a lot of noise in the school? And she knew that He Qianmin had a biological brother who was also in the third year of high school, but his biological brother was He Qianjian from Chenghua.

Just when Teacher He was puzzled, Shi Fengyue spoke up: "Teacher He, may I ask why you asked me to come here? What mistake did Shi Ao make?"

"Please take a seat." Teacher He came back to her senses, pulled over a chair, and placed it next to Jiang Chen. After Shi Fengyue sat down, she followed him and said, "I asked you and Jiang Chen to come here because Shi Ao and He Qianmin were caught fighting at school at noon by the director of the teaching department, but neither of them admitted to fighting."

Shi Fengyue curled his lips: "So you asked me to come here because Shi Ao got into a fight or because you think he lied?"

Teacher He hesitated for a moment and said, "Both. The two students have not been on good terms since the beginning of the school year, and this fight almost violated school rules, so I want to call the parents to mediate."

Shi Fengyue nodded calmly: "I understand what you mean."

Teacher He thought that Shi Fengyue agreed to cooperate with her work, and she breathed a sigh of relief. She turned to look at Jiang Chen and said, "Student Jiang Chen, since He Qianmin is your brother, how do you think this matter should be resolved?"

Jiang Chen suppressed the smile in his eyes, raised his eyes and looked at Teacher He, his tone was respectful but not yielding: "Teacher He, I think there must be a misunderstanding here. I believe my brother. If he had a fight, he would never deny it. I hope to hear what happened between the two of them."

Teacher He frowned, but before he could speak, Shi Fengyue turned his head to look at the two people beside him and said calmly, "Who of you will speak first?"

He Qianmin and Shi Ao looked at each other, and Shi Ao mouthed: You speak first.

"Let me talk first." He Qianmin stepped forward and said, "I made an appointment with Shi Ao to play basketball at noon, but when school was over at noon, I heard the news that my brother was recommended for admission, so I took Shi Ao to look for him. Unexpectedly, he went to the principal's office, so we went to the office building and waited for him in the garden outside. A wasp flew over, and Shi Ao hid behind me because he was afraid of the insect. When I chased the wasp away, I didn't notice that I hit his eye socket, and we had a few words. I guess Director Liu made a mistake and thought we were fighting."

Teacher He was half-believing and half-doubting, and looked at Shi Ao: "Go ahead."

Shi Ao basically repeated what He Qianmin said, the only thing he added was the detailed scene when he chased away the wasp. Perhaps the expression on his face was too disgusted and fearful, so Teacher He believed most of it, but he couldn't help but question it: "A grown man like you is afraid of wasps?"

"What's wrong with boys being afraid of insects?" Shi Ao said, "Our whole family is afraid of insects."

Jiang Chen turned his head and looked at Shi Fengyue with a smile.

Shi Fengyue said calmly: "I'm not afraid."

Shi Ao added: "Only my uncle is not afraid, he is afraid——"

Shi Fengyue glared at him: "You talk a lot?"

Shi Ao curled his lips and dared not speak because of the tyranny.

When Shi Fengyue retracted his gaze, he quickly glanced at Jiang Chen and looked at Teacher He: "Teacher He, I have understood the matter clearly. Is there anything else?"

"It's okay." Teacher He said, "It's just that He Qianmin and Shi Ao often have disputes. I still hope that you two..." She looked at the two people opposite, each of whom looked less like a parent than the other, and ignored the two parents who were about to speak, and continued, "Communicate with them more. I hope that this kind of misunderstanding will not happen again in the future."

Shi Fengyue nodded calmly. Jiang Chen said, "I will have a good talk with Qian Min about this matter. Please rest assured."

Teacher He stood up and said, "Then there is nothing else to do. We will not waste Jiang Chen and Mr. Shi's time. Class will start soon. You two should go back to the classroom."

He Qianmin and Shi Ao entered the classroom, while Jiang Chen and Shi Fengyue walked side by side along the corridor towards the stairs. There was still some time before the lunch break ended, and the corridor was bustling and noisy. Male students who had finished playing basketball were returning to the classroom in groups of three or five.

A boy in a basketball uniform rushed towards us. He was holding a basketball and he turned around and called his friends behind him: "The teacher said to enter the classroom ten minutes early. We are running out of time!"

Seeing that the boy was about to bump into them, Jiang Chen grabbed Shi Fengyue's wrist and moved it to the side, just avoiding the boy.

The boy also braked his car. When he saw Jiang Chen, he was stunned, apologetically and pleasantly surprised: "Jiang Chen, I'm sorry, I didn't hit you."

Jiang Chen: "It's okay."

The boy said excitedly: "God Jiang, I heard that you received pre-admission letters from Yan University and Huazhong University. Congratulations!"

"Thank you." Jiang Chen smiled and reminded: "Don't run so fast in the corridor next time, and remember to look at the road, don't hit others and hurt yourself."

"I'll be more careful next time!"

The other boys also followed, and when they saw Jiang Chen, they congratulated him one after another, smiling and acting very familiar. They waited until Jiang Chen reminded them that class was about to start, then they hurried back to the classroom.

Class was about to start and the corridor gradually became quiet.

"I heard from Mo Xi that you were planning to apply to Yanda University."

“It hasn’t changed now.”

"Are you not afraid that Mr. Xiang will be angry?"

Jiang Chen smiled and shook his head: "Mr. Xiang may seem difficult to approach, but he is actually very reasonable. After I explain the situation to him, he will understand."

"That's right." Shi Fengyue's lips curled up slightly, and unlike the distant smile he had just shown in the office, there was a little more laziness and casualness in the corners of his eyes and eyebrows: "Who told you to be the most reasonable one."

Jiang Chen: "When a reasonable person speaks and a reasonable person listens, it will naturally achieve twice the result with half the effort."

Shi Fengyue glanced at him and sneered, "You have a hidden meaning."

Jiang Chen raised his eyebrows and looked back, which was considered as his agreement.

Ever since he was inspired by Shi Fengyue's words last time, Jiang Chen found that he could see him in Li Nanfeng's office from time to time. As they saw each other more often, they would occasionally talk. As they talked about more topics, Jiang Chen discovered that Shi Fengyue seemed to know everything, from medicine to computers to art. No matter how big the field was, he could handle it with ease.

What surprised Jiang Chen even more was that Shi Fengyue had his own unique insights into the future development of computers, and most of his analysis was consistent with the future development of computers. Some of his views were even more advanced than the interstellar era. Gradually, Shi Fengyue became the only person with whom Jiang Chen could have professional discussions.

However, there are always disagreements on the road of scientific research. Jiang Chen and Shi Fengyue often argue with each other to stick to their own opinions. Whenever this happens, Jiang Chen, who can seek common ground while reserving differences on other issues, will be particularly stubborn and hope to convince Shi Fengyue with his own experimental data and his understanding of the future. However, Shi Fengyue still maintains his previous style, a man who never makes sense and will never be convinced.

Therefore, Shi Fengyue often found opportunities to tease Jiang Chen for being reasonable, and Jiang Chen also found opportunities to tease Shi Fengyue for being unreasonable. This went on and on for both of them and it became a habit.

When he reached the stairs, Jiang Chen paused and said, "Thank you for what happened just now."

Shi Fengyue also stopped and leaned against the railing: "What are you thanking me for?"

"If it weren't for you, Qian Min's homeroom teacher might have asked more questions."

Shi Fengyue leaned on the railing and looked at him: "You didn't go back to the He family because of He Qianjian."

The eyebrows and eyes so close to him were very impactful, but Jiang Chen had no time to worry. His heart skipped a beat and he looked back calmly: "Why do you say that?"

Shi Fengyue took in the vigilance and precaution in Jiang Chen's eyes. He straightened up and did not answer Jiang Chen's question. Instead, he said, "If you don't plan to let the He family find out for the time being, stay away from Xiang Hong."

Jiang Chen recalled: "Grandson of Mr. Xiang?"

Shi Fengyue: "He and He Yanfeng are friends. He works at the Yanda Affiliated Hospital and is a part-time family doctor for the He family."

After a moment of silence, Jiang Chen raised his eyes and asked, "What else do you know?"

Shi Fengyue tilted his head and said with a half-smile, "Getting information out of nothing?"

Jiang Chen: "You know that's not what I'm asking."

The preparatory bell rang, and a teacher came out of the office at the end. Seeing the two people at the stairs, he quickened his pace.

Jiang Chen retracted his gaze: "What do you want."

Shi Fengyue chuckled and waved his long, bony fingers in front of Jiang Chen's eyes: "You owe me five meals."

The teacher was getting closer and closer. Jiang Chen went upstairs, taking four or five steps at a time. When he reached the last step of this floor, he paused and looked down and said, "I'll pay you back for lunch this Sunday at noon."
