Ever since He Qianmin knew that Jiang Chen was the one who saved him, he has become more clingy than ever before. The boy who used to only call when he had something to do, now sends him at least ten text messages a day. Even if he has nothing to say, he will find something to talk about by asking questions. If Jiang Chen hadn't stopped him, he would have wanted to run to Yan No. 1 Middle School every day after school.
A week passed in a flash with such frequent contact. Children's Day happened to be a weekend, which was also the day when Mr. Miao took Miaomiao to move.
Jiang Chen had previously entrusted the task of finding a house to Chen Fang. Unexpectedly, Chen Fang not only helped him find a second-hand house that had just been sold in Jiangchen Community, but also helped Miaomiao to settle down and go to school, so that she could directly attend a nearby kindergarten after moving in.
Ever since Yang Si learned about Jiang Chen and Mr. Miao, he has always wanted to thank them. After knowing that Mr. Miao was going to move to their community, he was looking forward to it, just waiting to help when they came.
Thanks to Yang Si's arrangement, Mr. Miao's move went very smoothly. Everything from furniture to cleaning and even the layout suitable for the little girl was thoughtfully prepared in advance, so everything was ready in less than half a day.
After tidying up the house, Mr. Miao brought Miaomiao to the Jiang family for dinner.
After dinner, Miaomiao, wearing the little skirt that Yang Si had just bought for her, held Jiang Chen's hand and looked around. Her dark eyes were full of curiosity and joy, without the slightest timidity.
"Brother!" Miaomiao pointed at the cabinet by the wall and said, "What is that shiny thing?"
“That’s the trophy.”
Miaomiao was confused: "Trophy? Is it for drinking water?"
"You can use it to drink water." Jiang Chen picked up Miao Miao and put her in his arms, allowing her to see the trophies displayed in the cabinet more clearly. He smiled and said, "But this cup is too big, Miao Miao can't hold it."
"When Miaomiao grows up, she can drink water from this cup!"
"Okay." Jiang Chen said, "When Miaomiao grows up, I will give this cup to you."
Yang Si and Mr. Miao sat on the sofa, watching the two talking warmly and intimately, with smiles on their faces. Mr. Miao said, "Xiao Yang, I'm really sorry to have troubled you today. We'll pack up in a few days, and you and Jiang Chen can come over. I'll treat you to dinner."
"What's the trouble?" Yang Si kept his eyes on Jiang Chen and Miao Miao, with a smile on his face that he couldn't hide: "Miao Miao is so cute, I always wanted to have another daughter, thinking that if Chen Chen had a sister, she would definitely be a good brother, but I didn't expect Miao Miao to come."
Yang Si really likes this quirky little girl who likes to pester Jiang Chen from the bottom of her heart. Because her parents favor boys over girls, she has always had a wish to give birth to a little girl so that she can give her all the love that she didn't get in her childhood, which can make up for her childhood regrets.
Later, Jiang Chen was born. As she watched him grow up, it didn't matter to her whether he was a boy or a girl, because in her and Jiang Zhuo's eyes, Jiang Chen was the most precious and beautiful gift God had given them.
Mr. Miao could also see that Yang Si really liked Miao Miao. When he met Jiang Chen before, he thought that Jiang Chen's family should be very nice. But when he actually met them today and spent just half a day with them, he finally understood why Jiang Chen was so polite and sensible, and he realized that this family was even better than he had imagined.
Miaomiao has no father or mother. He is too old to take care of many things, and it is hard to predict how long he can accompany her. If she can have more contact and interaction with Jiang Chen's family from an early age, it will only benefit her growth and future.
Mr. Miao's good impression of the Yang family reached its peak when Yang Si found out that today was Miaomiao's birthday and that she had never eaten a birthday cake, so he immediately asked Jiang Chen to go out and buy a gift and a cake for Miaomiao.
Yang Si reminded: "Remember to buy a prettier little cake, one that girls like."
Jiang Chen nodded in agreement, but just when he was about to go out, Miaomiao hugged his legs and refused to let go. The little girl had tears in her eyes, pursed her lips and cried, saying that she didn't want any gifts or cakes, she just wanted her brother to accompany her.
Jiang Chen held a round, heavy ball on his legs, and refused to let go no matter how he coaxed her. Seeing the tears in her eyes, his heart softened, and he discussed with Mr. Miao: "Grandpa Miao, why don't I take Miao Miao with me? Don't worry, I will definitely bring her back safely."
Mr. Miao smiled kindly and agreed without hesitation: "Take her there, and have fun."
Just like that, Jiang Chen went out holding the chubby little girl's hand.
Miaomiao has been living in the countryside since she was born and has never seen so many new things. From the car to the mall, she tilted her little head to look left and right, her face full of curiosity. But even so, her little hand still held Jiang Chen tightly, and she never let go no matter how curious she was.
Jiang Chen had no experience in taking care of children before, and thought that it would take more time to take Miaomiao out. Unexpectedly, she was so well-behaved. She didn't make any noise or fight when he held her, and didn't want him to hold her. Even when she saw a beautiful doll, she just stared at it without blinking when Jiang Chen led her by, and looked away when she couldn't see it anymore. Her behavior was very different from the kids who were throwing tantrums on the shelf next to her.
Because of this, Jiang Chen felt bad if he didn't buy something for her. When he came out of the department store, he was holding a doll that was almost the same size as Miaomiao's, and Miaomiao, who he was holding, was also holding a doll. If it weren't for his reason that led him away from the children's toy area, he might have bought more.
After they bought the gifts, they were ready to go buy a cake. When they passed a bookstore, Miaomiao stopped for the first time and pointed curiously at the person sitting on the floor reading a book and asked, "Brother Jiangchen, is that a book?"
Jiang Chen squatted down and said with a smile: "Miao Miao, do you want to see it?"
"I want to!" Miaomiao nodded heavily, her black and round eyes were tender and serious, and her little face was full of longing and pride: "Grandpa said that only by reading books and studying hard can you be as smart and powerful as your brother when you grow up."
Jiang Chen picked her up, pushed open the door of the bookstore and said, "Then brother will buy books for Miaomiao. When Miaomiao grows up, she will be as good as brother."
Miaomiao held the doll and buried it in Jiang Chen's shoulder. Before Jiang Chen stepped into the bookstore, she suddenly said, "Miaomiao doesn't want the doll anymore. Brother, can we return the doll to Auntie?"
"Why do you want to return them to Auntie?" Jiang Chen paused: "Miao Miao doesn't like these dolls?"
Miaomiao glanced at the doll in her hand and then turned to look at the bookstore, frowning and looking conflicted. After a few seconds, she finally made up her mind and said, "Miaomiao doesn't like dolls, she likes books."
Jiang Chen has never been good at guessing people's thoughts, but the frown on the chubby face of a little girl of four or five years old seems to speak, and you can tell why she says that just by looking at her.
Jiang Chen held her and rocked her, saying with a smile, "But brother likes dolls. How about this, brother buys books for Miaomiao and keeps these dolls. When brother goes to Miaomiao's house in the future, Miaomiao will let brother play with them?"
Miao Miao's eyes lit up, and she was instantly tempted by Jiang Chen's proposal. She wanted to nod, but she was conflicted: "But buying books and dolls requires a lot of money. Earning money is hard, and I can't buy everything."
Jiang Chen was startled, and it was hard for him to believe that a four or five-year-old kid said such words. He looked at Miaomiao's serious face, and his heart softened. He said softly, "Today is Miaomiao's birthday, and it is also Children's Day. All children can get gifts on these two days, so Miaomiao can have two gifts."
“What is Children’s Day?”
"Children's Day is a festival for children." Jiang Chen said with a smile, "As long as they are kind and cute children, they will get gifts."
"Does Miaomiao have one too?"
"Yes." Jiang Chen carried her to the children's bookshelf: "Because Miaomiao is a kind and lovely child."
Two bookshelves away, a little girl with shoulder-length black hair looked over here cautiously, without blinking.
"Qianyu, what are you reading?" Li Xiao had picked out the supplementary books and saw his friend lying on the bookshelf with half of his face exposed. He didn't know what he was reading, so he called out curiously.
He Qianyu put her index finger to her lips, made a hushing sound, and immediately turned back to look. She heaved a sigh of relief when she saw that the people over there didn't notice the commotion here.
"What are you looking at?" Li Xiao looked in the direction she just looked at, but didn't see anything strange. He asked in confusion, "What's going on over there?"
He Qianyu immediately covered her mouth, pulled her behind the bookshelf, and said in a low voice: "Keep your voice down, don't let anyone find out."
"What did you find?" Li Xiao was confused and curious: "You looked like you were peeking just now. Who were you peeking at?"
"No!" He Qianyu denied it immediately. Seeing Li Xiao's obvious disbelief, she muttered, "It's really not true. I just saw his profile and he looked like my second brother when he smiled, so I took a closer look."
"Your second brother?" Li Xiao stretched her head out and looked over there. There was no one there. She retracted her gaze and said, "But you can look at it openly. Why do you have to be so sneaky?"
He Qianyu: "It's weird to stare at others openly, okay?"
"But sneaking around and watching other people is even weirder, isn't it?"
"I..." He Qianyu was at a loss for words. After a few seconds of silence, she gently kicked the bookcase and said with a pout, "Why don't I have a brother like this?"
"What?" Li Xiao didn't hear clearly.
"Nothing." He Qianyu picked up the book she wanted to buy and looked over there again. Seeing that the people there were no longer there, she lowered her eyes in disappointment and said, "Let's go. Dad will come to pick me up later."
"Your eldest brother is injured, so he probably won't go to your grandfather's house today. Will your second brother go?"
"Go ahead." He Qianyu pouted and said, "As long as the eldest brother goes, the second brother will not go. If the eldest brother does not go, the second brother will definitely go. Besides, Brother Qianyang will also go to Grandpa's house today, and we can play games with him."
Li Xiao nodded and said as he walked: "Then let's go and pay the bill."
Jiang Chen was checking out when Miaomiao held the fairy tale book she had just bought and couldn't let it go. Her chubby little hands held the book tightly. Although she couldn't read, she stared at the pictures in the book with a serious look on her face.
Just after paying the money, I heard a hesitant voice: "Jiang Chen?"
Jiang Chen turned around and saw that it was Li Xiao. He smiled and nodded, "You are here to buy books too."
"Yes." Li Xiao looked at Miao Miao beside his legs curiously and said, "Is this your sister? She's so cute."
Miaomiao raised her head, blinked at Li Xiao, then hugged Jiang Chen's legs shyly.
Jiang Chen was stunned. He thought Miao Miao was always very friendly, but he still picked her up and said with a smile, "She is not my sister, she is the neighbor's child."
Li Xiao nodded, then he remembered his good friend and introduced her with a smile: "This is my friend. She was on the stage at the last ballet performance you watched. Her name is..."
"Qianyu." The handsome and tough man pushed the door open and walked in, showing a doting smile. He walked straight to his daughter, touched her head and said, "Have you finished buying books?"
