Chapter 7 I'm only happy to help you
Weekends are the busiest time for Internet cafes. Duan Huaijin takes over the shift at nine in the morning and is busy until after six in the evening.
"Okay, you can go home today. You've worked hard." The boss patted Duan Huaijin on the shoulder and signaled another employee to take over Duan Huaijin's work.
After all, Duan Huaijin was just a part-time worker and had just graduated from high school. Even if he was a black-hearted boss, he would still feel a little guilty if he kept employing him as a full-time employee but didn't pay him full-time wages after a long time.
But Duan Huaijin said, "I volunteer to work overtime, and I don't need overtime pay. I will leave at nine o'clock."
Another waiter who was working with a sullen face was wiping the table vigorously. It was already annoying to work this crappy job, and now there was another waiter.
The boss was also very surprised. He had been running the Internet cafe for so many years, but this was the first time he saw someone who didn't want to pay. He immediately smiled and looked at Duan Huaijin as if he was looking at a rare treasure. "If you insist on staying, then I will definitely have no objection. But looking at you like this, I guess you are here to wait for someone like yesterday, right?"
Duan Huaijin hummed.
Yesterday was the day he had an appointment with Yu Chucheng, but he worked a whole day and waited here for a whole day but Yu Chucheng didn't show up, and neither did the friend who played games with him.
Duan Huaijin guessed that Yu Chucheng might have forgotten, but he did not send a message to Yu Chucheng right away. He was waiting, whether it was Yu Chucheng himself or Yu Chucheng's guilt, they were what he wanted to wait for.
Just like casting a line to fish, if you don’t put some bait in the water first, how can the fish swim over by themselves?
Duan Huaijin cleaned the seat where he had just gotten off the plane and threw away the cigarette butt that the previous customer had casually thrown on the table.
"Bang--!"
The door of the Internet cafe was suddenly kicked open, and the hot air outside rushed in instantly.
The leader was a bald man wearing a shirtless T-shirt. The tattoo on his shoulder could be vaguely seen extending to his chest. Although he was not tall, he had muscular body and looked like someone who was not someone to be trifled with.
He held his head high in a haughty tone, and said impatiently, "Who's the boss?"
The Internet cafe owner swallowed and said, "Yes, I would like to ask if you want the main hall or a private room?"
The bearded man behind the bald man glared and shouted, "Who the hell is here to surf the Internet? I ask you, is there a person named Duan Huaijin working here?"
Seeing that it wasn't aimed at him, the boss breathed a sigh of relief, but then he started a new round of nervousness, "Duan Huaijin?"
The boss was a little hesitant, not knowing whether he should say it or not. He instinctively turned around and wanted to take a quick glance at Duan Huaijin.
It doesn't matter if you don't look at it, but if you look at it, Duan Huaijin's position will be exposed.
"We've found the boss!" The bearded man pushed away the Internet cafe owner who was trying to block his way. Due to his large stature, he squeezed many chairs crooked when he walked through the aisle.
The people who were playing games in the Internet cafe saw this and even quieted down their voices of cursing at their teammates. Some were afraid of being implicated and took the opportunity to go to the toilet.
The bald man walked up to Duan Huaijin and scanned him from head to toe with his eyes raised. "You must be Duan Haixiang's son, right?"
Duan Huaijin was leaning against the counter, holding a rag in one hand to clean the camera. Hearing this, he just raised his eyes lazily and said, "No."
"Bah!" The bald man spat, "I saw you enter my house last night with my own eyes, and you still want to deny it?! Tell me, when are you going to pay me back?"
Duan Haixiang worked in a mediocre way on construction sites all his life. By chance he became addicted to gambling. He fantasized that he could change his fate by gambling, but he was a novice and loved to play. He lost a lot of money and half of his body was addicted.
In his previous life, Duan Haixiang didn't dare tell Lin Mei about this. He only told Duan Huaijin and hoped that Duan Huaijin could help him with some advice. Duan Huaijin would come to work part-time right after finishing his classes, partly to help Duan Haixiang pay off his debts.
"I have no money, you go ask him for it." Duan Huaijin said indifferently, his tone was righteous and a little frivolous, as if he didn't care.
But the debt collector doesn't care about that.
The bald man cursed something in the local dialect, and the bearded man reached out to grab Duan Huaijin's collar and swung his fist, wanting to teach this brat a lesson.
"stop!"
A cell phone flew over and hit the bearded man's face like a brick.
The bearded man felt a pain in his nose and closed his eyes, wrinkling his facial features.
Yu Chucheng just wanted to get something, but he didn't expect to see this scene as soon as he entered the door, and he was almost scared to death.
He rushed over breathlessly and stood in front of Duan Huaijin, "In broad daylight, what do you want to do?!"
The bald man glared and cracked his fingers, "Mind your own business. His father owes us money. It is only natural that the son should pay the father's debt."
Duan Huaijin lowered his eyes. Today, Yu Chucheng was wearing a short-sleeved shirt with a light blue thin jacket hanging in his arms. There was a barrier patch on the back of his smooth and slender neck, half of which was immersed in the collar that exuded a fresh fragrance.
Yu Chucheng sneered, "What if I insist on interfering?"
The bald man choked. Their violent method of debt collection was illegal. Even if the police came, it was not certain who would be put in jail. He just wanted to scare Duan Huaijin into paying the money quickly, but he didn't expect a nosy young man to show up halfway.
But the bald man didn't want to return empty-handed, so he rolled his eyes and pulled the beard that had just been hit in front of him, "I can give you some time to pay the gambling debt, but my brother was injured by you, you must give me some medical expenses."
Yu Chucheng rolled his eyes in his heart, "Are you two crazy because of poverty? If he doesn't plug his nose with paper, the blood in his nose will probably dry up. Even if I give you medical expenses, I guess you won't know which department to go to in the hospital because the injury is too minor."
Yu Chucheng spoke with such certainty that some of the customers who witnessed everything couldn't help but burst out in laughter.
"You..." The bald man didn't expect this kid to be so sharp-tongued. "It doesn't look serious at all, but who knows if the bones inside are injured? Anyway, you were the first to attack, so you must pay compensation!"
The bearded man covered his nose and pretended to be in pain, "Yes, and there is also compensation for mental damage."
"Oh, really? Which of your eyes saw that it was me who did it? I didn't even touch you." Yu Chucheng raised his chin proudly and made up a bunch of nonsense with his eyes open. "It was obviously my phone that hit you. What does it have to do with me? I just didn't hold it firmly. Who knew it would fly out and land right on your face?"
Duan Huaijin's eyes flashed. He was half a head taller than Yu Chucheng, and from his angle he could just see the top of Yu Chucheng's head. Yu Chucheng's hair was soft black, and every strand of it exuded the same arrogance as its owner.
Yu Chucheng secretly congratulated himself on his good eloquence from licking Hao Jia for the past two years. He kicked the phone on the ground with his toes and continued as a matter of course, "Besides, my phone screen is broken. Is your face broken? Hitting you with my phone is like hitting a rock with an egg. I think it was your face that broke my phone. Why don't you pay me some money?"
Baldy has been in this business for so many years and has seen all kinds of people, but he has never met anyone who can confuse right and wrong. The key point is that he actually thinks there is some truth in what he says.
"Good boy, I'm going to let you go today, just wait for me." The bald man snorted coldly and made a harsh remark. Even if he was unwilling, he couldn't call the police. Moreover, this eloquent boy's temperament showed that he was not from an ordinary family, so he could only blame himself for his bad luck.
The Internet cafe owner finally breathed a sigh of relief after making sure the person causing trouble had left.
"Are you okay?" Yu Chucheng turned to ask Duan Huaijin, and then he realized that he seemed to be a little close to Duan Huaijin, and his forehead almost brushed Duan Huaijin's nose. His heart skipped a beat, and he quickly pulled away to a safe distance.
Duan Huaijin looked at him steadily, his voice a little hoarse, "It's okay, you helped me again."
Yu Chucheng raised his hand and touched his neck uncomfortably, "I've always been so helpful."
"Always?"
Yu Chucheng didn't know why Duan Huaijin had to focus on these two words. But Duan Huaijin was a villain, and according to the general setting of villains, they would be particularly obsessive about details, and particularly care about their uniqueness in the eyes of others, wishing that the whole world would be good to him and belong to him alone.
Even if Duan Huaijin didn't show it on his face, he might be thinking this way in his heart.
In just two seconds, Yu Chucheng imagined in his mind a scene in which Huai Jin turned evil and came to settle accounts with him, and immediately changed his words, "No, I'm actually just happy to help you."
