Chapter 8 Seven Melodramatic Words

Bai Qingzhou shook his head. "No."

"You got rejected?" Shen Mianmian breathed a sigh of relief—why would a reborn female lead sleep with this cannon fodder?

Bai Qingzhou thought for a moment, "It shouldn't count, right? While she was taking a bath, I waited on the soft couch. As I waited, I calmed down. I felt that I shouldn't be stubborn. I promised you that I would be with you for life, and I should keep my promise. I can't break my promise because of stubbornness."

Shen Mianmian heard those seven melodramatic words again, but strangely, she didn't feel too disgusted.

Seeing the boy start taking off his clothes, Shen Mianmian was about to refuse, but then she thought that Feng Chu had finally calmed down and decided not to sleep with the female lead. The spark was about to be extinguished, so how could she fan the flame?

Between "sleeping with the female lead" and "sleeping with her," she felt she should choose the latter.

The boy took off his outer clothes, leaving only his snow-white undergarments, and lay down against the edge of the bed.

As the boy snuggled into the blankets, the blankets filled with that unique, clean fragrance.

However, the boy did not make any further moves; he simply lay on his side on the edge of the bed with his back to her.

Chen Mianmian ignored him—oh well, that's it, she won't deliberately distance herself anymore.

She can predict what the female lead will do, so how could she not stop her?

Isn't Jiang Yinjin just trying to push Marquis Anning onto the ship of Prince Jin's rebellion? If she just finds a way to prevent Jiang Yinjin from gaining the Madam's trust and from seeing Princess Ruian, wouldn't the problem be easily solved?

Is Jiang Yinjin trying to please the madam?

She'll try to please him too, let's see who succeeds!

...

Peony Courtyard.

Jiang Yinjin put the unused sleeping potion back in the drawer, then asked the maid to fetch water, carefully washed her hands, and then lay back down on the bed.

Both the first snow and the first rain were present, and the two remained silent, filling the room with a sense of melancholy.

Jiang Yinjin snapped out of her thoughts and looked up. "It's getting late. Why aren't you going home to rest? What are you doing here?"

Chu Xue's voice choked with sobs, "Young Madam, you've always been so intelligent, how could you just stand by and watch that vixen steal the young master away?"

Chu Yu burst into tears. "Yes, the young master came and then left. If word gets out... the young master is really going too far!"

Jiang Yinjin chuckled, "I thought it was something serious, but it turns out it's just this. Hehe, what will happen if word gets out? Will outsiders laugh at me for falling out of favor? Remember, when you marry, you should marry a virtuous wife and take a concubine for beauty. The wife's job is not to use her looks to serve people. Competing with concubines for favor only lowers your status."

The two men were relieved to see that the young mistress's face showed no sadness.

Knowing that the two cared about her, Jiang Yinjin made an exception and said a few more words, "My goal has never been the Crown Prince, but the Madam."

"Madam?" Chu Xue exclaimed in surprise.

Chu Yu understood. "This servant understands what the young mistress means. Who in the capital doesn't know that the young master is a spineless coward? In the past, the Marquis and his wife were in charge of the Marquis's mansion, but from now on, it will be our young mistress who is in charge."

"I see! I understand now." Chu Xue was delighted.

Jiang Yinjin gave him a loving look and said, "Go back and get some rest. I don't want to see you dozing off tomorrow."

"Yes, young mistress."

The two greeted each other cheerfully and then left, handing over the night watch to the next-ranking maid.

A short while later,

After the two figures disappeared from the room, the smile on Jiang Yinjin's face slowly faded, and she said in a low voice, "Hehe, they will all die! I will make sure that the entire Anning Marquis's mansion is left without a burial place!"

...

early morning.

Jiang Yinjin had breakfast early and then went to the main courtyard to pay her respects to the madam.

When Lady Ding, the wife of the Marquis of Anning, saw Jiang Yinjin, she hurriedly invited her to sit down, asking, "Have you had breakfast yet?"

Jiang Yinjin nodded and lowered her eyebrows, respectfully and obediently replying, "Replying to Mother, your daughter-in-law has already had breakfast."

Ding nodded thoughtfully, and then with a glance, her trusted nanny dismissed all the maids below.

Inside the main hall, besides the Ding mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, there were only their two confidants.

Ding asked expectantly, "I heard that Qingzhou stayed at your place for a while yesterday?"

Jiang Yinjin knew what Ding wanted to ask, and a hint of disdain curled at the corner of her lips, but it quickly disappeared.

She lowered her eyes, her beautiful face showing both strength and a hint of grievance. "Yes, when the young master arrived, I was taking a bath. After he came out, he spoke a few words with me and then left."

Ding's face froze, then she looked embarrassed. "Maybe...he probably saw that you were too tired after your bath. Don't worry, daughter-in-law, I'll take care of everything. I'll have a good talk with Qingzhou in a bit."

Jiang Yinjin's eyes showed a look of satisfaction, and her tone remained respectful, "Daughter-in-law has something on her mind, but she doesn't know if she should say it."

"Of course you should speak up. Tell me what you want, and I, as your mother-in-law, will grant it." Ding coaxed her daughter-in-law, secretly cursing her good-for-nothing son a thousand times over in her heart.

Jiang Yinjin smiled gently, then said sincerely, "Actually, before the marriage, I already knew about the situation between the young master and Aunt Shen, and I approved of it."

The daughter-in-law, as the principal wife, is well aware of her responsibilities. If she were to truly manage affairs in the future, she fears she might not be able to take good care of the crown prince. Therefore, seeing that the crown prince has a kind and caring person by his side, the daughter-in-law can rest assured.

Madam Ding was deeply shocked and looked at the young woman with such poise and grace in astonishment. "Good daughter-in-law! You are truly my good daughter-in-law!"

As he spoke, he immediately asked the nanny to give him a reward, which included silk, jade, and a considerable amount of silver.

Afterwards, the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law had a private chat and took a walk in the garden before the mother-in-law let Jiang Yinjin go back.

Back in the room.

Jiang Yinjin changed into a soft casual dress, and also put away her gentle smile. She looked out the window with a deep gaze, lost in thought.

First Snow and First Rain stayed by her side.

After a while, Jiang Yinjin withdrew her gaze and said with a faint smile, "You have a problem? Speak up, don't be shy."

In her previous life, her two maids remained loyal until her death, so she trusted them implicitly.

Seeing that the young mistress had agreed, Chu Xue respectfully asked, "This servant doesn't understand. Since the young mistress doesn't care about the young master and only wants to gain the madam's trust, why are you still unhappy that the madam has given so many gifts this time?"

Jiang Yinjin raised an eyebrow. "Did I seem unhappy?"

The two nodded in unison.

“You guys really know me,” Jiang Yinjin sighed with a wry smile, then shook her head. “I’m really not happy because it’s too slow.”

"Too slow?" the two asked, puzzled.

This time, Jiang Yinjin did not answer.

In her previous life, on her wedding day, the prince did not share a room with her, and when she went to offer tea the next day, he was not present. She could tell that the madam was displeased. In addition, in the afternoon, Shen Mianmian did not offer her tea, and on the third day after her return visit to her parents' home, the prince did not accompany her back to her parents' home.

If this life is the same, she can use the lady's anger to incite her to cause trouble for Shen Mianmian. Bai Qingzhou will definitely quarrel and clash with the lady for Shen Mianmian's sake.

Every argument they had increased the lady's guilt towards her, which in turn led her to compensate her by not only rewarding her with money but also taking her to see Princess Ryan, making her listen to her and believe in her.

But the problem is, things have changed in this life!

On the second day after the wedding, during the tea ceremony, the Crown Prince appeared.

In the afternoon, Chen Mianmian also took the initiative to serve her tea.

Three days later, the prince, though unwilling, accompanied her back to her parents' home.

Therefore, the lady's guilt towards her is far from enough!

According to the previous life's progress, the lady only took her to meet Princess Ruian privately two years later, by which time Prince Jin had already started his rebellion! The Marquis of Anning's mansion could not possibly get close to Prince Jin, who had already rebelled.

She had to tie Prince Jin and the Marquis of Anning together before Prince Jin rebelled.

Therefore, we need to speed up the process.

No matter what method you use, you have to get Shen Mianmian and Bai Qingzhou into making a scene and push the madam to her side.

Thinking of this, Jiang Yinjin smiled coldly, and then said, "Chuxue, go to Mingyue Courtyard and invite Aunt Chen here."
