Chapter 21 She Knows Medicine (1/2)

Not long after, Zhang the shopkeeper came out from the inner room and said to Chu Chenyin and Fu Yanting with a smile: "My two guests, do you want to buy fifty dou of rice?"

Chu Chenyin nodded slightly, "Well, we are going to visit relatives far away, and we heard that the rice here is good, so we want to bring some back."

It was rare to have such good business, so Manager Zhang didn't think much about it and asked the servant to pour a cup of tea for Chu Chenyin and Fu Yanting. "Okay, of course you can, but we don't have that much rice in the shop right now, so we have to go to the rice warehouse to get some. If you are not in a hurry, you can wait for a day or two."

Chu Chenyin smiled and said, "Of course you can, but can you give me a little less silver?"

Shopkeeper Zhang narrowed his eyes, stroked his beard, and said with a lewd smile: "Since you two gentlemen bought so much rice at once, I can naturally give you less, but you two also know that food is scarce now, and no matter how low the price is, it can't be so low that we have no food to eat."

As he spoke, he took out his abacus and calculated, "It's about seven hundred taels of silver in total."

Seven hundred taels of silver was a sky-high price for ordinary farmers, and Manager Zhang wanted to take this opportunity to make a killing from them.

Chu Chenyin did not bargain, and took out twenty taels of silver from his pocket and placed it on the table, "This is the deposit, we will come to get the rice in two days."

Zhang, the shopkeeper, took the silver, held it in his palm and smiled, "Okay, sir."

Chu Chenyin stood up slowly, took out a pen and paper and asked him to sign a document.

Shopkeeper Zhang signed without even thinking about it.

Chu Chenyin looked at the receipt and said earnestly, "Shopkeeper, you must remember this: we must see the rice in two days."

Without even thinking, Zhang, the shopkeeper, responded loudly, "Don't worry, sir. The rice will arrive in two days."

"That's good." Chu Chenyin raised the corners of his lips slightly, put the receipt into his arms, stood up and walked out.

"Goodbye, sir!" Shopkeeper Zhang bent his waist and smiled, staring at Chu Chenyin with narrowed eyes, as if he was lost in thought at the outstanding and generous woman in front of him.

When Fu Yanting passed by him, he stopped, lowered his eyes, and said slowly in a piercingly cold tone: "Look again, or I'll dig out your dog eyes."

Shopkeeper Zhang was startled, and when he looked up at Fu Yanting again, he had already walked out of the shop and stood beside Chu Chenyin.

"Sir, I..." Shopkeeper Zhang was angry, but for such a big order, he had to bear it. He blew his beard, and hurried back to the shop to ask the servants to prepare rice.
