Chapter 87: Each Has His Own Agenda
Yun Yuan turned around in shock. In the faint moonlight, she could see clearly that it was a pale, slender hand, cold and powerful, tightly grasping her ankle, but without any further movement. It looked more like a person falling off a cliff grabbing a tree fork to save his life.
She looked in the direction of the hand - deep in the shadows where the main beam and the secondary beam intersected, there seemed to be a thicker black shadow, motionless, and even its breathing was extremely weak.
Yun Yuan stared at the black shadow silently for a moment. She could feel that the person was also looking at her.
Yun Yuan's nostrils twitched. A faint smell of decay emanated from this man - she had smelled this kind of poison in the Huiming Corridor of the Feng family.
The two of them remained motionless and silent.
The moon's shadow shifted and fell on Yun Yuan's profile.
The man's tightly clenched hands slowly loosened, accompanied by a self-deprecating smile: "It's actually the girl next to the Third Young Master."
Yun Yuan was slightly startled. This woman's voice... sounded familiar to her.
After thinking for a moment, Yun Yuan suddenly said, "I know you are delivering a message, so I came to check it out."
The woman was silent for a moment. "I didn't expect a mere servant of the Feng family to be so extraordinary." Her voice was hoarse. "It doesn't matter. I didn't hold out any hope anyway. I'm just making a last-ditch effort." She waited a moment, and seeing Yun Yuan remained silent, she added, "Why are you still standing there? Capture me alive and claim the credit for it from your master."
"Feng Yanhao is not my master."
The man paused for a moment, then chuckled. "How could I have forgotten that the Feng family's eldest and third sons are like water and fire." The shadow struggled to move. "So, what do you plan to do with me?"
"It depends on what you're doing here with Feng Yanhao." Yun Yuan probed, "If it's beneficial to my young master..."
The man was silent for a moment, "Although it's not for the Third Young Master Feng, I am here to steal Feng Yanhao's vital point."
"Life Gate?" Yun Yuan paused, "For whom?"
"For another Feng family member."
Yun Yuan's heart trembled slightly. She suddenly leaned forward, grabbed the man's withdrawn hand, and pinched her wrist.
"What are you going to do!" Although the man was extremely weak, he still grabbed Yun Yuan's wrist with his backhand, squeezing her joints so hard that they cracked.
"Feng Yanhao and my young master are not on good terms." Yun Yuan moved closer to the black shadow. Her eyes had already adapted to the darkness, and she could vaguely see the person's face - it was the other one of the two beauties, Jinse.
"Since it's not good for Feng Yanhao, I will naturally help you. What do you think?" A smile appeared on the corner of her lips.
Jinse's face was shrouded in the dark shadow of the night. She sneered, "With your skills, you want to help me? Can you help yourself?"
Having said that, he had slightly loosened his grip on Yun Yuan's wrist, and Yun Yuan cut her wrist with her backhand.
"Our first encounter at Xia Pi Inn was so brief, and you, young lady, don't know my abilities yet. I may not be able to save you. But I can cure your poison," she said, her lips curled up.
Jinse was startled and unconsciously let go of her hand. "Really?" Her voice trembled slightly.
"It's just the most common corpse poison in the Feng family's machinery, used to capture assassins alive. It will only make half of your body stiff. It's not fatal and easy to cure." Yun Yuan untied the sachet, pinched out a bunch of Hanmei powder, and held it to her lips. "Try it?"
Jinse hesitated for a moment, but she had no choice now.
She held the cluster of powder in her mouth, then moaned softly, took a quick breath, and gradually calmed down.
"How about we both leave Feng Yanhao's residence tonight and meet again at Qingyuefang in Luoyang City?" Yun Yuan tied the sachet around her waist and said leisurely, "Let's talk about Feng Yanhao's vital point... After all, I'm a Feng spy. Perhaps if we work together, it will be easier to succeed."
"Are you... a spy?" Jinse's voice still contained a slight wheeze from the effects of the drug.
"Why do you think I stay with the Third Young Master?"
Jinse suddenly reached out and pressed her lower limbs - and sure enough, she regained consciousness.
"It really is the antidote."
"Of course. The Feng family's poison..." Yun Yuan leaned close to Jinse's face, carefully observing her every expression, and said word by word, "I have the antidote for them all."
The surprise and hope in the person's eyes were just as expected. Yun Yuan smiled with satisfaction, then jumped off the beam and looked up at the woman who was still stunned. "I wonder if you still have the strength to escape on your own, lady?"
The night is as dark as ink.
Yun Yuan slid out of the Ghost Pavilion, dodged a few times, turned into the wing room, and put on his backpack.
She wasn't sure if Feng Yanhao's words about "free access" were true or not, so she decided to give it a try tonight. If it was true, that would be great. If it wasn't—she glanced toward the southwest corner—it wouldn't take long for Hanmei Powder to dissolve the corpse poison. However, Jinse had been waiting for at least three or four days, and her body was weak. She was afraid she wouldn't be able to escape the spies' eyes and ears as quietly as before.
It would be better to complete this "saving beauty" incident.
Thinking this way, she left the room and headed straight for the southwest outer door.
The vermilion lacquered gate was tightly shut, and two guards, their swords crossed, blocked her path.
"Master Hao said today that I can come and go as I please. Could it be that Master Hao's words are no longer binding?"
The two guards looked at each other, and one of them said, "You look unfamiliar. Do you have a pass? Why are you out so late at night?"
Yun Yuan snorted coldly, "Why?! When did Fengtie report to you?"
The two guards were stunned. Feng Dian was the Feng family's top guard and naturally could not be underestimated.
"Please show me the Spy Order, Lord Wei." Although he was cold and hard, his expression and tone softened, and his sword dropped.
Yun Yuan touched her waist and said, "Oh, how could I forget to bring it!"
But she heard a "clang" sound, and two big knives were raised in front of her again. The dazzling white knife light made her squint her eyes.
"I've never heard of a spy forgetting to bring their Spy Order! Who are you?"
"Didn't you hear it today?" As Yun Yuan spoke, her eyes moved around in the shadows, but she never saw the figure that should have appeared. What was Jinse waiting for?
Yun Yuan took a step forward. The two men were startled and took a step back unconsciously, but they held their two knives high and did not dare to let down their guard.
Yun Yuan said slowly, "But I do have something important to do today. Can you really afford to delay me?"
During the stalemate between the two sides, a sneer was suddenly heard.
"How could Miss Yuan forget to bring the Spy Wind Order? It's a treasure that she fought so hard for."
Yun Yuan turned around and looked.
Feng Wu was followed by a guard, and the two of them walked slowly towards him, one in front and one behind.
Just as I was looking back, I caught a glimpse of the shadow of the tree in the corner of the wall moving slightly, and a figure flew by like a black crow in the dark night.
It turns out that Jinse was avoiding these two people.
"I wonder what's so important that Miss Yuan has to go out so late at night?" Feng Wu asked.
Yun Yuan sneered, raised her eyes and said in a stern tone, "No?"
Feng Wu paused, turned around to look at the guards behind him, and said with a smile: "This is the only young lady Feng Die by the Third Young Master's side. What do you think? Amazing, isn't she?"
The guard smiled and replied, "It's well-deserved."
"That's a good question, Miss Yuan!" Feng Wu leaned over and said with a smile, "Why not?" Then he respectfully made a "please" gesture and said, "See you off."
Seeing this, the guard at the gate hurriedly pushed open the door.
Yun Yuan was worried and tensed up as she stepped out of the door, expecting a sudden attack. When she had walked about ten feet away, she heard the door open behind her. She turned her head and saw that the door was closing. Feng Wu was standing in the middle of the door, looking at her quietly.
The door rumbled and finally closed tightly.
"Sir, do you really allow her to come and go freely?"
"Of course." Feng Wu curled his lips and said, "She is a spy, so she has to do what a spy should do."
Luoyang City is bustling at dusk.
Yun Yuan moved among the crowd, glancing around from time to time. She had tried several times since last night, but indeed, she hadn't seen any signs of being followed.
She turned into the busy alley, and after several twists and turns, until the sun turned from scorching white to warm yellow, she finally found Qingyuefang - this was the meeting place the shopkeeper had given her yesterday.
Yun Yuan took out the brocade bag that the shopkeeper had returned to her, handed over the entrance ticket inside, and was then taken into the small pavilion on the second floor.
Halfway through the song, a figure quietly sat down.
"How did you convince that Black Judge to release you?"
Gu Yue looked at the girl with a calm expression curiously.
"It was Wu Yi who begged for mercy..."
"Plead?" Gu Yue raised her eyebrows.
Yun Yuan also found it ridiculous.
"Can you rescue Wu Yi?"
Gu Yue shook her head. "The spy never leaves her side. The Black Judge often stays in her room. There's never a moment of vacancy."
Yun Yuan's eyes darkened slightly.
There was no other way. Fortunately, it seemed that Feng Yanhao was just trapping her.
"Feng Yanhao actually lives in such a remote place. Why doesn't he become a guest of honor in Prince Zhao's mansion?" Yun Yuan asked.
"The Black Judge is very low-key." Gu Yue sneered, "On the surface, he has no connection with King Zhao. But the Third Young Master Feng..." He looked at Yun Yuan, "He openly followed King Huainan into the city, but left the city overnight before Mount Tai collapsed..."
Yun Yuan pursed her lips.
Gu Yue asked: "Do you know why?"
"I was still unconscious at the time." Yun Yuan said softly, "It must be something involving Feng family secrets. Yuan Fengwei was being vague..."
"What did that say?"
"Just tell me the mistress' urgent order..." Yun Yuan imagined Feng Jiu's hesitant and embarrassed look.
Gu Yue said with a smile, "The Feng family mistress urgently ordered that she summon not her biological son but only this concubine's child?" He shook his head, "After all, he's a Feng family member. It's a bit strange that the Third Young Master Feng is so ostentatious in public. Now it seems that there are three Young Master Fengs performing on the same stage."
"Three? Feng Yanxuan is here too?"
"That second young master is the most impeccable. He entered the city before the King of Huainan and disappeared. Then the King of Huainan entered the city openly, and coincidentally, the three kings stopped to greet him..." Gu Yue smiled, "In this chess game of Luoyang City, it's really hard to tell who is the chess piece."
Yun Yuan paused for a moment, "You just said Mount Tai is about to collapse... What does that mean?"
"The gates of Luoyang are closed, and the palace gates are sealed as well." Gu Yue looked at the girl's furrowed brows, "This means..."
"The Prince of Huainan cannot see His Majesty, and reinforcements cannot enter the city." Yun Yuan frowned, "The Prince of Zhao is about to take action."
Gu Yue hummed, "And the King of Huainan has been seeking an audience with the emperor to obtain an imperial decree, so that he can legitimately purge the court." He sighed, "Now, I'm afraid it's difficult."
"The King of Huainan has the aid of the Huainan Swordsmen, so if he raises an army, he might have a chance of victory." Yun Yuan was more worried about the poison in the King of Huainan's body. "Do you have any news about Feng Xiaoming in Luoyang?"
"There's no trace at all." Gu Yue asked, "Does Wu Yi have any clues?"
Yun Yuan didn't answer, but slowly scanned the crowd with her gaze. Suddenly, the corners of her lips curled up slightly, and she whispered, "Here they come."
Gu Yue was stunned: "Who?"
"clue."
