Age of Empires From Scratch - Chapter 3

[Chapter 3 Another Buddha Passed By]

Crawford saw with his own eyes a translucent figure that could only be seen vaguely at first, slowly becoming clear and real, and finally had a more intuitive feeling of the situation described by David earlier.

It was no wonder that David had such a reaction to this incredible scene.

Compared to Crawford’s attention to how the figure slowly became “real”, David carefully looked at the new person who appeared, wanting to see if he could recognize who the new person was?

The result disappointed him. When the other party finally revealed his true appearance, David could not immediately recognize who this middle-aged man with a big beard who looked extremely strong was.

When David and Crawford were looking at each other, the middle-aged man also noticed the two of them. At the same time, he stopped his steps as if he had noticed something, and looked around with a vigilant face: “Excuse me, where is this place?”

The middle-aged man asked in a language that David had never heard before, but David found that he could actually understand what the other party said, and even figured out how to answer the other party’s question in this unfamiliar language the moment he heard the question.

“…”

He was silent for a moment, and after thinking carefully in his mind, he soon ‘knew’ that the language he had just mastered was also called the common language, but it was not the same language as the common language used by humans in this world.

As for the fact that he had suddenly mastered a new language, he suspected that the reward that Crawford had originally given him was not simply English knowledge, but some more powerful ability.

“Hello, this is the pioneer camp in the north of the Kingdom of Tiran. I am David, the village chief here. Is there anything I can help you with?” David answered the other party’s question using the new ‘learned’ common language, which surprised Crawford. Crawford had a

language talent comparable to that of a cheat. She had heard the common language that David had used before, and it was obviously two completely different languages from what David was using at this time.

After hearing David’s answer, the sturdy man on the opposite side showed an obvious look of doubt on his face: “The Kingdom of Tiran?” After thinking for a few seconds, he asked again: “How far is this place from East Wilde?”

“I don’t know where the East Wilde you are talking about is?” David shook his head, indicating that he had never heard of this place, and guessed in his heart that perhaps the person who came to him inexplicably was not necessarily someone he was familiar with.

The other party’s enthusiasm had already let the strong man down, but David’s answer made him more confused: “Stratholme? Kingdom of Lordaeron? Have you heard of these names?”

“…” David didn’t react on the surface, but he was very surprised. He was very familiar with these two place names, but it was not convenient to answer directly that he knew them. At the same time, he kept guessing the identity of the person in front of him.

Seeing that David didn’t speak, the strong man’s thick eyebrows twisted more. He decided to introduce himself first and then ask for more information: “Hello, my name is Lao Fo, I may be lost… Maybe I need to stay in your village for one night.”

As one of the most famous paladins in Azeroth, he is not unfamiliar with mysterious powers. He suspected that he might have encountered some kind of space transfer.

I don’t know where I was sent to? Judging from the reaction of the young man in front of him just now, he is likely to have left the Eastern Kingdom.

Lao Fo was thinking about the strange things he had experienced here, while David was surprised in his heart about the identity of the strong man in front of him.

I didn’t expect that this famous paladin would also come to him!

While recalling various information about this Lao Fo, David silently organized his words and prepared to tell the actual situation directly to the paladin in front of him.

There is no need to hide some things, and the other party is not a fool. Even if David doesn’t say it, Old Buddha will soon find out that something is wrong. It is better

to tell the other party directly about various situations, which can also be regarded as a certain attitude of his own and improve his favorability. If Old Buddha is willing to teach him how to use the Holy Light, David will make a profit.

He doesn’t think that the Holy Light is so powerful, but the Holy Light has excellent healing and disease-eliminating abilities. In this relatively backward world, David, who lives alone in a remote area, is most worried about not getting timely treatment for injuries and illnesses.

There was no way before, but now that Old Buddha, the Paladin, appears in front of him, he will appear too stupid if he doesn’t grasp it well.

“There are some situations that need to be explained to you.”

Describing the magical way Old Buddha appeared, and with Crawford, who also came here from “another world”, in front of him, David can easily explain the situation clearly.

Old Buddha’s acceptance speed is also faster than Crawford’s, because he comes from a world that often fights with aliens, and his acceptance of another world is much higher than Crawford’s.

“This isn’t Azeroth?” Old Buddha scratched his messy hair. He didn’t expect that he would get lost in another world. No wonder this young man named David had never heard of the Kingdom of Lordaeron. “But why do you know the common language of Azeroth?”

“I don’t know. I seem to have some strange ability. I suddenly understood this language after seeing you.” After a while, David had figured it out:

Crawford could learn a new language in a short time through various incomplete records on ancient ruins and stone tablets. The reward he got from Crawford at the beginning was probably an upgraded and enhanced version of this ability, rather than the English knowledge he initially guessed.

This discovery made him very happy, and the appearance of Lao Fo confirmed his speculation about his own golden finger: he activated the golden finger after becoming the village chief. This means that more people from various worlds will appear in the future. With this ability, he doesn’t have to worry about language problems.

David was ecstatic, and Lao Fo didn’t find David’s explanation unacceptable, but just looked at David a few more times.

While the few people were talking, the sky had completely darkened. Lao Fo had noticed that Crawford and David were moving firewood into the wooden house, so he took the initiative to help. The three of them quickly prepared enough firewood, lit a fire in the wooden house, and then talked around the campfire.

Croft didn’t know the common language of Azeroth, and Old Buddha didn’t know English. The conversation between the two needed David to act as a translator, but generally speaking, it didn’t have much of an impact.

After chatting for a while, Croft had completely believed that she had come to another world. The appearance of Old Buddha broke the last bit of doubt in her heart.

The doubts in her heart completely dissipated, and coupled with the disasters she had suffered from shipwrecks, heavy blows, stabbings, and falling into the mountain stream not long ago, Croft fell asleep quickly after being completely relaxed.

David covered Crawford with an extra layer of quilt, then sat back on his bed and continued to chat with Old Buddha.

Old Buddha did not talk about his past achievements, but just said that he left home for some reason and was wandering around without a fixed place to live, and ended up coming here in a daze.

“If you don’t mind this place, you can live in the village for a long time.”

Listening to Lao Fo’s description, David finally understood the other party’s current situation: in the story of Warcraft, Lao Fo was exiled because of a conflict with his subordinates and for helping and rescuing an orc. After wandering around for a while, he chose to live in seclusion somewhere in East Wilder. In the future, East Wilder will be renamed the Plague Land, which is more well-known to many people because of the ravages of the Scourge. This is why David said he had never heard of East Wilder before. After so many years, such details have long been forgotten.

“It sounds like a good suggestion.” Lao Fo did not resist David’s invitation. At this time, he had no particular place to go, just wandering around. He

did not agree immediately, but it was nothing more than that he could not let go of his wife and son at home. Now that he was confused and came to another world, he would inevitably think about how to go back? After all, when he was exiled, he was still in Azeroth. If he missed his wife and children, he could go back secretly to see them a few times; now in this situation, he didn’t know if he could go back to see them?

Old Buddha stopped talking, and David also lay down on the bed. The only sound in the big wooden house was the occasional sound of the fire. His consciousness gradually became hazy, and when he woke up again, it was already daybreak.

David sat up. The fire not far away was still burning. The prepared firewood had been used up. It was obvious that someone had been watching over the fire all night.

“No wonder I can sleep until dawn.” It was impossible to sleep well when I was alone. In addition to getting up from time to time to watch over the fire, I also had to be careful to guard against attacks from wild beasts.

Last night was different. With a powerful and good paladin like Old Buddha by his side, he didn’t have to worry about his safety at all. David hadn’t felt so at ease in a long time.

Just when he was wondering where Old Buddha had gone, the door of the wooden house was opened, and more sunlight shone into the house, waking Crawford up.

First he sat up alertly, then he remembered his miraculous experience, Crawford forced a helpless smile, and said good morning to David: “Good morning, David.”

“Good morning, Crawford.”

The old Buddha standing by the door saw that the two people were awake, and greeted them, and said a message that surprised them: “Good morning, both of you. I think I know how to return to my own world.”

“What?” Crawford was very excited to understand what this sentence meant through David’s translation. She was the one who most wanted to go back among the people present: “How to do it?”

“It’s very simple, just find a direction to walk out of the village, and think about returning to your own world in your heart.”
