[Chapter 37 The Little Blacksmith]
David turned his head to look at the location of the phantom, then looked at Addis, and happened to meet Addis’s eyes.
“Is it an enemy?” Addis did not ask David if he saw it. In the eyes of the old hunter, David, who he had trained himself, could not have worse eyesight than himself.
“Not sure.” David tried to probe a few times, and found that in the eyes of Addis and Alfie, what they saw was not a phantom, but a shadow that was still far away. Because the distance was too far, they could not see the specific appearance clearly.
As this person “gradually approached”, the phantom in David’s eyes gradually became more solid – he had already understood that the process of the phantom in his and Laura’s eyes gradually becoming a real person, in the eyes of Addis and other locals, was a person walking from a distance.
Not only David realized this, but Laura, Fording and others also realized this. This means that in the future, when they go back and forth to their respective worlds, they don’t need to avoid other people in the village. In the eyes of those people, they are just walking out of the village or walking back from outside.
“This saves a lot of trouble.” David was relieved thinking this. At least he didn’t have to bother explaining this magical phenomenon to Addis. He
turned his head to look at the shadow. Now he was just curious about who would come this time.
As the shadow gradually solidified, David finally saw the appearance of the person who came – a male human, and a “familiar” face. I wonder who it corresponds to?
He stood up not far from the long table, quietly waiting for the man coming from “afar”.
After the young man realized that he had suddenly arrived in an unfamiliar place, he stopped in his place with a dazed look on his face. He looked around in confusion, and then looked at David who was standing not far in front of him. Then he walked up and asked politely where this place was.
“This is Winter Village, I’m the village chief David.” The other party spoke in English, so David also replied in English: “From the looks of you, you must be lost?”
“It seems so. Can I ask which direction I should go to go to Port Royal?” The young man looked at the wooden houses not far away and the long table not far in front of him. There were old people and children sitting at the table. It looked like a very ordinary small village: “By the way, my name is Will Turner, you can just call me Will, village chief.”
When the other party said the name of Port Royal, David knew the identity of this person: Will Turner, one of the male protagonists in the Pirates of the Caribbean series.
Will has a lot of roles in the first three movies. He was the son of a pirate. He was rescued by the Royal Navy by mistake and became an apprentice blacksmith in Port Royal. Then he went to the sea in a daze to save his sweetheart. He was a couple with Elizabeth Swann, the daughter of the Governor of Port Royal. After the battle in the third part, he was seriously injured and had to use special methods to save his life. He became the captain of the Flying Dutchman and was responsible for extraditing the dead at sea.
Later, Will Turner lifted the curse with the trident of Poseidon, and got rid of the fate of receiving the dead and being unable to reunite with his family. As for whether there would be any unexpected events later, David was not sure.
As for the Will Turner in front of him, he looked very young. Perhaps the things he knew had not happened to this young man yet?
But this was not the focus of David’s attention. He was concerned about Will Turner’s identity: the extradition of the dead on the sea, the descendant of pirates, these were meaningless to David, but his identity as a blacksmith made him more concerned.
“You know that my village is short of blacksmiths, so you sent me one?”
He thought happily in his heart, and his outward performance was much more enthusiastic: “It’s getting late, why don’t you rest in the village for a night?”
Will looked at the sky that had already darkened, and knew that it was not a good choice to travel at this time, but he still felt strange about how he walked from the streets of Royal Port to this place, and he was wary of the people in front of him.
“Will it disturb you?”
“No.” David led Will to the table and asked him to sit down and eat something together.
Laura stood up and gave up her seat, and at the same time called Alfie who had finished her meal: “Alfie, I’ll take you to see something fun.”
Alfie was sitting at the table honestly, even though he had eaten a long time ago, he was still waiting for Addis. The old hunter was not young, but his appetite had not decreased much. In fact, because he had been running around Winter Village every day during this period, teaching Alfie various hunter skills, he consumed a lot of physical energy every day, which led to an increase in his appetite.
He was very concerned about Alfie. Seeing Laura called Alfie away, even though he knew that Laura would not have any ill will towards Alfie, he still followed her habitually. After
giving up his seat and Addis being led away by Laura, the next thing was much simpler.
After Will sat down, he looked at the two men across the table. One was a young man with a plain appearance but looked quite friendly; the other was a very majestic strong man. What surprised Will the most was that he felt the oppression of the Governor of Royal Port from this strong man.
“What is this?” Just as Will was looking at Mark and Fording, he suddenly noticed a blue thing jumping out from the table. Although it looked round and cute, Will was still startled by the sudden appearance of a creature he had never seen before.
“This is Squirtle.” Mark was looking at Will curiously. Seeing that Will was scared by Squirtle, he found it interesting and introduced it to him: “Don’t worry, this creature won’t hurt anyone.”
Hearing that it would not hurt anyone, Will felt relieved a little, and then looked at it curiously for a few more times: “Very cute turtle.” He felt that he was not far from Port Royal, and it should be a turtle that appeared here.
David helped Will get some food and placed it in front of Will, thinking about how he should start.
Will was eating stew and chatting with the two people in front of him briefly. He learned their names: Mark Watney and Tirion Fording.
“Where is this place? I mean, in which direction of Port Royal is this place?” While eating, Will kept looking around, but he couldn’t figure out where he was. The environment here was very unfamiliar.
Mark and Fording looked at each other, and finally looked at David together. Seeing the reaction of the two people, Will turned his head and looked at David sitting next to him.
“In fact, this place is very, very far away from the Port Royal you mentioned.”
“How is it possible?” Will didn’t believe it. Even if there was something wrong with his brain for a while and he walked out of Port Royal in a daze, he couldn’t walk far, right? However, David’s next words made him feel even more outrageous.
“You are no longer in your original world.”
Will was full of surprise, and he didn’t even want to eat the hot stew: “Do you mean that I am dead?”
“Oh, that’s not what I mean.” Seeing that Will misunderstood his words, David immediately explained, and by the way, he used Mark and Fording in front of him as examples.
After talking for a long time, Will finally understood what David meant.
The stew in front of him was completely unable to arouse his interest. Even though he didn’t eat much today and did a day of physical work, what happened at this time made him completely unable to get up the mood to eat. He even suspected that what was happening at the moment was just an absurd dream.
Looking at Will’s reaction, David found that he had thought too simply before. Not everyone can accept the inexplicable crossing to another world so quickly.
Laura was able to accept it so quickly because she saw the appearance of Fording.
Fording was able to accept it so quickly because there is a mysterious power in the world of Azeroth, and even crossing is a real example for Azeroth. As
for Mark Watney, the environment of Mars and Winter Village is very different. It is hard not to believe it.
But for Will Turner, who lived in the “ancient times”, did not know so much messy knowledge, had not yet come into contact with mysterious powers, and the surrounding environment was not so big as to make people immediately tell the difference from Royal Port, so it would take some time to accept this kind of thing.
After realizing this, David knew that the fastest way to make Will believe that what he said was real was to tell him how to “go back and forth” between the two worlds.
David did this. Although this method might make Will, the “blacksmith” he had been thinking about for a long time, never return, he was not prepared to rely on lies and deception to force someone to stay – a forced melon is not sweet, even if it can quench thirst for a while, it may backfire in the future.
Hearing that there was a way to go back, even though Will still couldn’t believe that such a magical thing had happened to him, he still stood up and tried it, turning into a shadow in the eyes of several people and gradually disappearing.
“Do you think he will come back?” Mark turned to ask Fording after Will’s figure disappeared, “I don’t think he will come back.”
“That’s normal, after all, he has his own life.” Fording also felt that this young man named Will would not come back, because that young man was not like him, who wanted to find a place where no one knew him to live in seclusion; nor was he like Mark, who lived alone on a desolate planet and relied on Winter Village to ensure that he could hold on until rescue arrived.
“I think he will come back.” David had a different opinion from the two. He felt that Will would come back because the pirate gene inherited from his father by the little blacksmith made him full of adventurous spirit.
More importantly, he was just an apprentice blacksmith in Royal Port, and he needed some special opportunities to marry Elizabeth, the daughter of the Governor.
“He will realize that this is an opportunity to change his life.”
