[Chapter 46 Holy Light Laura]
My name is Will Turner, and I am an apprentice blacksmith.
I came to Port Royal when I was very young, and then grew up in this most prosperous port city in the Caribbean, and learned how to become an excellent blacksmith.
I am not bragging, the sword I forged is definitely the top sword of this era, and I will become one of the most famous craftsmen in the world sooner or later.
But this cannot change the fact that I am still just an apprentice blacksmith, and this has become the biggest obstacle in my pursuit of Elizabeth.
What should I do? How can the gap between us become smaller?
Just when I was thinking hard but couldn’t come up with an answer, I walked into a strange village inexplicably.
What is this place? There is such a primitive small village near Port Royal?
When I heard all the explanations from the young village chief named David, I just felt that it was all too ridiculous. What about two different worlds is simply incomprehensible. Maybe I just haven’t woken up yet? This strange experience is just a dream.
And even if what he said is true, what can it do? Elizabeth lives in Port Royal, and my future is also in Port Royal!
But even though many days had passed, I still couldn’t control the curiosity that kept rising in my heart. It was as if a voice kept telling me, “This is an opportunity. If you miss it, you will regret it for the rest of your life!” I finally came to this place called Winter Village again, and used the method that the young village chief told me.
After a simple exchange, I learned that the village was short of a blacksmith. The village chief David sincerely invited me to become the blacksmith of Winter Village.
This seemed to be a good opportunity for me. I could have a blacksmith shop that belonged to me, instead of continuing to help others in Port Royal.
But Elizabeth…
Just when I wanted to refuse, the village chief told me that I could travel freely between Winter Village and Port Royal, and the distance between the two places was even closer than the distance from the blacksmith shop to the Governor’s Mansion in Port Royal.
So I didn’t have to worry about being separated from Elizabeth, so I happily took the job and invited Elizabeth to visit when my blacksmith shop officially opened.
But I never expected that the first job in front of me would be like this…
“I’m a blacksmith.” Will Turner pointed to the pile of parts in front of him and complained to David: “These things don’t seem to be my job.”
“I’m the village chief. Am I not tinkering with these things here now?” David didn’t look up. He almost buried his head in the drawings, but still couldn’t find where the parts in his hand should be installed: “I don’t think this part should be on this machine.”
“What you have in your hand is the part of a wind turbine.” Mark, who was the most knowledgeable person on the scene, looked at the drawings several times and quickly figured out what David was holding in his hand: “What you have in front of you is the drawing of a water pump battery pack.”
“…”
David helplessly put the parts in his hand aside. He felt that he had no talent in mechanics. He once dreamed that he could rub a mobile armor in the Winter Village and become a mecha tyrant. As a result, he didn’t even step into the door and was slapped unconscious by the cruel reality.
At this time, Laura appeared again carrying a large box, and then sat down on the ground, not caring at all how indecent her posture was, which was not a posture that a young noble woman should strike: “I think this job is more tiring than working out.”
“Carrying these parts back and forth is actually exercising!” Mark looked at the pile of boxes in front of him, as well as the various parts taken out of several boxes that had been disassembled. There was such a large pile of scattered parts, and this was just a part of it: “I guess you won’t be able to do anything else these days.”
“I just want to find a place to lie down and never move again.” Laura was so tired that she didn’t even want to eat, but although she said so, her body had no intention of stopping. After complaining a few words, Laura stood up again: “I’ll continue to move the next box.”
“Would you like to take a break?” Mark looked at Laura, who was tired, and worried that her body would have problems due to excessive fatigue: “Anyway, it’s not a particularly urgent matter. It doesn’t matter if we move it until next year.”
“No, I just want to finish these things as soon as possible.” Laura has made up her mind to complete these tasks as soon as possible so that she can complete her adventure plan: “Don’t worry about me, I feel that the holy light in my body is repairing my body and making me stronger. Didn’t you notice that I moved the parts much faster than at the beginning?”
Holy light is Laura’s biggest trump card. The holy light stored in her body will ensure that her body will not be damaged, and the high-intensity labor will further squeeze out her physical potential, which means that the harder Laura works, the more her physical fitness will improve.
Laura herself did not realize that her tenacity has further improved her affinity with the holy light, and she is not far from touching that opportunity. Maybe before she consumes the holy light from David in her body, she has already obtained the power of the holy light through her own efforts.
At that time, she will also usher in the baptism of the holy light, but I don’t know if she will become the light-cast Laura.
It was precisely because of this realization – when helping Laura check her physical condition and the holy light in her body, David did not persuade Laura to stop and rest, because persuading her to rest at this time is not for her good, but will make Laura miss a great opportunity.
When Laura left Winter Village again and went back to move parts, David told Mark the reason directly in response to Mark’s question.
He is not the type to play mysterious and deliberately hide things, which will cause misunderstandings and confusion. What’s wrong with saying a few words? Will telling Mark make Laura miss the opportunity? Mark doesn’t have that much influence.
As for Will? The little blacksmith who just came to Winter Village was still in a state of confusion. He had no idea what the piles of delicate parts in front of him were used for.
Seeing Will’s confusion, and Mark had nothing to do for the time being – his biggest role here was to figure out what parts Laura brought, and then classify and put them away to facilitate the assembly work later.
So he explained by the way that these piles of things were to install a tap water system for the village, including pumps, water purification equipment, battery packs, wind turbines, solar generators, etc.
“You mean, after assembling these things by the river, we can drink clean water in the village?”
“Yes.”
Will finally figured out the purpose of all these things, but he didn’t quite understand: “Wouldn’t it be better to just dig a well in the village? Why make it so complicated?”
“Because this is just the most basic tap water system.” Although David said that he was going to build various public facilities to make the village better, he hadn’t told anyone about his subsequent ideas: “It is to lay the foundation for the subsequent laying of a real tap water network.”
Although it is a transitional product before the completion of the real tap water network, it is not wrong to say that it is a foundation. This automatic pumping and delivery system can also ensure the construction and use of facilities such as bathrooms and canteens.
Will didn’t understand David’s plans. He was more curious now. Didn’t David ask him to come just to let him build these delicate and complex parts?
Although as a blacksmith, he would feel itchy when facing these delicate things, but he had never built these things before, and he didn’t know if he could build them?
Squatting on the ground, he kept looking at a certain part, and then he changed another one to look at it. After changing more than ten parts, Will nodded: He had already reached an accurate conclusion, he couldn’t make it himself!
Will didn’t say anything. He felt that if he said he couldn’t do this job, would the blacksmith shop he just got be gone?
“Maybe I should think about it carefully and spend more time practicing, then I should be able to make it, right?”
Will finally saw some hope and didn’t want to give up this opportunity easily.
In fact, he thought too much. David didn’t expect him to be able to make various machines with his bare hands in such a primitive environment. After all, this person is called Will Turner, not Tony Stark or Bruce Wayne.
Just as Will was thinking about his own little thoughts, Laura ran back and forth several times, and finally broke the window paper after putting the box down again.
A beam of light descended from the void. Laura, bathing in the holy light, felt like she was soaking in the most comfortable hot spring she had ever soaked in. Every cell in her body seemed to be cheering and rejoicing. The fatigue accumulated before quickly subsided, and at the same time, the holy light that was already little left in her body was also increasing rapidly. In the blink of an eye, she was back to her best condition.
“This…”
The beam of light condensed by the holy light had dissipated. The baptism of the holy light only lasted for a few seconds, but Laura felt like she had been reborn.
“I have gained the recognition of the holy light?”
Laura was very satisfied to be able to use the holy light spells freely with the holy light that David poured into her body. She didn’t expect to gain the recognition of the holy light in a daze. This was really an unexpected surprise.
“Congratulations!” Mark, who was standing next to her, looked envious and joked, “Are you going to be a priest next? Or a paladin?”
“I’ve never thought about this question.” Laura felt that whether it was a priest or a paladin, it made no difference to her. She was not a believer in the holy light, and after gaining the holy light, she had never considered taking the holy light as her own belief.
So strictly speaking, she is a user of Holy Light, not a follower.
However, there is no need to explain these things specifically. In comparison, it is more important to explain what happened to Will who kept making the sign of the cross.
“Will, it was just a baptism of Holy Light, not a miracle.”
