Chapter 100 Standing Up for My Best Friend

“Director Shao, Liang Damin told me that when Qiu Jingwen entered the Hongqi Medical Equipment Factory, he was accompanied by two people with letters of introduction from the Field Army Headquarters. How could he possibly be a spy who had been lying in wait?”

Shao Jian immediately responded:

"Sir, I have reported to the municipal bureau leaders about Qiu Jingwen's case back then, and the leaders have also contacted the provincial department. There will be further investigation results later. However, it is certain that Qiu Jingwen was an enemy agent. He also described the process and details of his murder of Liu Xianghai as very real, exactly the same as the situation we investigated at the scene."

At this point, he added:

"Boss, I've come to see you because I have something to discuss with you."

"Director Shao, you are the head of the investigation team. You are in charge of the case. I don't want to get involved. Since Qiu Jingwen has admitted to being an enemy agent and the murderer of Liu Xianghai, you should handle the matter. I will report this situation to the Provincial Military Industry Bureau immediately."

Shao Jian immediately shook his head.

"Leader, I didn't come here to report this situation to you. I wanted to say that it's not appropriate to disclose the fact that Qiu Jingwen is an enemy agent for the time being. Your Hongqi Factory should keep the same story and say that Qiu Jingwen is away on a business trip."

This surprised Zhou Huaihai greatly.

He didn't understand what Shao Jian was up to, or why he had made such an arrangement.

Since Qiu Jingwen is a Kuomintang agent who has been lying low for many years, why not arrest him openly and make a big show of it? Why keep it a secret and claim that he is on a business trip?

Thinking of all this, he looked at Shao Jian and smiled calmly.

"Director Shao, what are you up to?"

Shao Jian then shared some of his ideas with Zhou Huaihai.

He also revealed the details of the Hidden Group to Zhou Huaihai.

Of course, Shao Jian did not tell Zhou Huaihai about the anonymous letter codenamed Butterfly.

After hearing Shao Jian's explanation, Zhou Huaihai nodded in understanding.

"Director Shao, I understand what you mean. We'll do as you say. Our factory will tell everyone that Qiu Jingwen has gone on a business trip for training."

At this point, he looked at Shao Jian and smiled:

"But Qiu Jingwen can't stay away forever, can he? He can't keep studying forever, can he?"

"Boss, I have some ideas and plans, but I need to go back to the bureau to ask for instructions. Maybe Qiu Jingwen will be back soon, or maybe he will never come back. We'll see how things develop."

"Oh, he'll be back soon? Your police department will let him come back?"

Whether Qiu Jingwen can return to the factory depends on the opinions and approval of the higher-ups, as well as whether Qiu Jingwen himself will cooperate.

---

Zhou Huaihai didn't ask why, but looked at Shao Jian with a puzzled expression.

Shao Jian kept Zhou Huaihai in suspense, looking at him with a knowing gaze.

"Boss, some things are just my ideas and require your approval. You may understand this in the future."

After he finished speaking, he added:

"I'll go back to the Municipal Bureau to report in a bit and bring Qiu Jingwen directly to the Municipal Bureau, since his situation is of great importance."

Zhou Huaihai naturally understood that Qiu Jingwen, as an enemy agent, could no longer be detained at the Hongqi Factory and should be sent to a detention center.

Shao Jian decided to take Qiu Jingwen directly back to the Municipal Bureau, a decision he made on his way to see Zhou Huaihai.

With that anonymous letter, and the presence of a spy named Butterfly at the military factory, who was worried about Qiu Jingwen's safety, he made a last-minute decision to secretly take Qiu Jingwen away after reporting back to the municipal bureau.

After leaving Zhou Huaihai's office, Shao Jian got into a military jeep and returned to the guesthouse.

He explained some things to Wu Dinghuai, and then gave the instructions:

"Dinghuai, I'll bring that anonymous letter and Qiu Jingwen to the Municipal Bureau to report these matters to the leaders. You'll be in charge of the work here. Call the bureau immediately if anything happens."

Wu Dinghuai agreed, and then asked:

"Director Shao, should we continue the surveillance of Jiang Yuping?"
