Chapter 148 Qiu Shui's Writing Plan

Neither Qiu Jingwen nor Jiang Yuping spoke. They looked at each other without responding, but they knew in their hearts that going to Beijing involved many things: job arrangements and transfers for the two adults, job arrangements and transfers for their son Qiuyang and daughter Qiuyue, housing arrangements, and so on, all of which required money.

Seeing the couple hesitate, Wang Chen smiled and said, "As long as you are willing, you don't need to worry about other things. I have also thought about your work units. Your Hongqi Factory is a third-line military factory under the Ministry of Ordnance. I will find a way to transfer you to work in the Ministry of Ordnance first. As for Qiuyang and Qiuyue's work, they can be transferred to the same place, or they can change jobs."

"Uncle Wang, this whole family is going to Beijing, which involves many things, such as job arrangements and housing. I don't want you to worry too much."

“Awen, none of this matters. The key is that your whole family is willing to leave here. Besides, you’ve been through a lot lately, and I think this environment is a good thing for both you adults and the children.”

What Qiu Jingwen didn't know was that Wang Chen genuinely wanted to help their family and was also grateful to Qiu Jingwen's parents, Qiu Zhongjing and his wife, for saving him back then. He felt that since he hadn't retired yet and still had power, it was only right for him to use that power to do something for the Qiu family, and it wouldn't violate organizational discipline.

"Uncle Wang, this----".

Qiu Jingwen couldn't make up his mind, and he didn't want to trouble the old leader in front of him.

"How about this, you and your husband and child discuss it again. If you're willing, call me directly or call my secret contact, Xiao Chen."

After saying that, he asked his secretary to give Qiu Jingwen his private phone number and also asked the secretary to write down Qiu Jingwen's home phone number. Qiu Shui handed a peeled apple to Wang Chen: "Grandpa, please have an apple."

Wang Chen took the cardamom and said with a smile, "Qiushui, what a nice name! It reminds me of a famous line from an ancient poem."

Qiu Shui immediately smiled and asked, "Grandpa, may I guess?"

"Okay, let me see if it matches my expectations."

"Yes, the sunset glows and the lone wild goose flies together, and the autumn water blends with the sky."

"Haha, Qiushui, you're quite amazing! Why don't you go to Beijing? Grandpa will arrange for you to study at the PLA Academy of Arts. Maybe you'll become a great writer someday."

"Grandpa, you're amazing! How did you know I'd be a writer when I grew up?"

In a child's eyes, it doesn't matter who your grandfather is. Qiu Shui also knows that this grandfather is a high-ranking official. He just proposed to arrange for their family to move to Beijing, which is naturally a good thing for her.

Seeing Qiu Shui chatting happily with the old general, Qiu Jingwen and Jiang Yuping were naturally very happy as well. They also knew that with Wang Chen's help, their children's future would be different. However, Jiang Yuping was worried that the incident would affect the old general's reputation if she thought about how she had killed someone and her husband had taken the blame for her.

After more than an hour, the secretary said, "Sir, we should head back now; we're running out of time."

Wang Chen stood up, patted Qiu Shou's head, and said to Qiu Jingwen, "Awen, you two should seriously consider the matter of your family going to Beijing. To be honest, I'm retiring next year. Once this opportunity is gone, it won't come again."

"Well, Uncle Wang, Yuping and I will get back to you after we've thought about it."

The family went downstairs and put Wang Chen in the Jeep, until the Jeep disappeared from the neighborhood.

Back home, Qiu Jingwen and his wife discussed the old leader's proposal. When his wife whispered that the case of killing Liu Han might affect the old leader's image, Qiu Jingwen told his wife almost exactly what Wang Chen had told him. He also recounted how his parents had sacrificed themselves to save Wang Chen. Only after hearing this did Jiang Yuping understand why this important figure cared so much about her husband and her family.

"Let's wait for Qiuyang and Qiuyue to come back and hear their opinions."

Jiang Yuping concluded by saying that she asked Qiu Jingwen to call his son and children and ask them to come home for dinner that evening, as she had something important to discuss with them.

Upon hearing that something important was happening on the phone, Qiu Yang tensed up again and asked in a low voice, "Dad, is something wrong with you again?"

When Qiuyue received her father's call, he spoke in the same tone. They were both uneasy about their parents' identities as spies and their murder charges. Although they knew their parents were deputy factory directors, they didn't know if they would be one day, or if they would be imprisoned.

That evening, when Qiu Yang and Qiu Yue realized that their parents wanted to change jobs, they didn't object. However, they didn't want to leave the Hongqi Factory, and their reason for not wanting to leave was that they were both in relationships.

"Mom and Dad, Xiaowei and I are dating. I don't want to leave her. Besides, I'm studying hard to prepare for the college entrance examination next year. Su Xiaowei is also preparing, and we plan to go to the same school."

"Mom and Dad, me too. I'm dating Liang Guoping. Besides, the Third Front construction also needs people."

Qiuyue also found a reason to build socialism.

After learning about Qiu Yang and Qiu Yue's opinions, Qiu Jingwen and his wife discussed it and decided to leave Qiu Yang and Qiu Yue at the Hongqi Factory for the time being. The family would first settle down in Beijing, and then find a way to arrange for Qiu Yang and Qiu Yue to move to Beijing later. They knew that life was always unpredictable and complicated, sometimes beyond their control, and sometimes like a runaway horse that could only be let run wild.

About a week later, Qiu Jingwen called Wang Chen's home and told them about his plan to go to Beijing. Wang Chen immediately replied, "Great! That's wonderful! Just wait for our notification and pack up your valuables. I'll send a car to bring them to Beijing."

About two weeks later, Secretary Chen told Qiu Jingwen over the phone that his and Jiang Yuping's work units had made arrangements and that the normal transfer orders between them and Hongqi Factory had been issued: "Pack your things at home, and I will bring people in a truck and jeep to your factory in a couple of days."
