Around 10 a.m. on both days.
After arranging things for the injured Jiang Yuping, Wei Hongyi hurriedly went into her office and called Qiu Jingwen.
"Hey, Director Qiu, come to the clinic right away! Yuping fell off her bike."
Wei Hong's words were like acupressure points from a distance, causing Qiu Jingwen's whole body to stiffen, and the microphone almost slipped from his hand.
Qiu Jingwen's first thought was, "Is Liu Han behind this?"
After all, he hadn't handed over the three thousand yuan yet, so Liu Han wanted to teach him a lesson and remind him.
"Wei Hong, what did you say? Yu Ping fell down? How could she fall? Is it serious?"
"Oh dear, you should go to the infirmary first. I don't know the specifics, you should ask Yuping yourself. She's lying in bed right now."
At this point, Wei Hong asked loudly:
"Qiu Jingwen, tell me honestly, did you two have a fight?"
"We didn't argue."
"Then why is it that when my Yuping goes to work, she is always listless and absent-minded?"
Wei Hong directly calls Yu Ping "our Yu Ping," which Qiu Jingwen understands; they are best friends.
Qiu Jingwen didn't answer Wei Hong's question at all. He hung up the phone, rushed out of the office, got on his bicycle, and rode off as fast as he could.
His wife was preoccupied because he hadn't told her about his situation, including the purpose of the three thousand yuan.
At this moment, Jiang Yuping is lying on a hospital bed in the infirmary, with a bandage wrapped around her head.
When Qiu Jingwen rushed into the ward, Wei Hong was sitting next to Jiang Yuping.
When Wei Hong saw Qiu Jingwen enter the ward, she said in an annoyed tone:
"Qiu Jingwen, you are not allowed to bully our Yuping from now on. Take good care of Yuping. I still need to prescribe medicine for other patients."
Qiu Jingwen was a little confused. Why was his best friend so protective of his wife?
After Wei Hong left the ward, he hugged his wife tightly, and tears welled up in his eyes.
He asked while wiping away his tears:
"Yuping, how did you fall? Did someone do something to you?"
Jiang Yuping was somewhat confused and looked at Qiu Jingwen with curiosity.
"Qiu Jingwen, what do you mean? Who wants to harm me?"
"Then how did you fall?"
"I went to the union library to exchange books. When I was going downhill, the brakes seemed to be malfunctioning. I accidentally fell off the bike and hit my head on the concrete ground. It's nothing serious, just a little scrape."
Before Qiu Jingwen could respond, she reached out and stroked her husband's hair.
"Dad, don't worry, I'm a doctor, I know, it's nothing serious."
As soon as she finished speaking, Jiang Yuping frowned and showed a pained expression.
Upon seeing this, Qiu Jingwen immediately asked:
"Yuping, what's wrong with you?"
"I have a slight pain in the back of my head, and my memory feels a bit hazy."
Upon hearing this, Qiu Jingwen became even more nervous.
He grabbed his wife's hand and hurriedly suggested:
"Yuping, how about we have the infirmary ambulance take you to a city hospital to get checked out? Are you alright?"
"It would be better if it broke, so I wouldn't have to put up with your temper."
"Yu Ping, I'm sorry---I'm sorry, it's all my fault."
"How long are you going to keep this from me? We've been husband and wife, and you still won't tell me."
"Yu Ping, this is the infirmary, can we not talk about my business?"
“Qiu Jingwen, I’m really afraid something will happen to you. Tell me, who extorted that three thousand yuan from him? What evidence do they have against you?”
After much deliberation, Jiang Yuping concluded that her husband had been framed and blackmailed, which is why she was so certain.
Qiu Jingwen was startled, thinking to himself that his wife had indeed guessed correctly.
He calmed himself down, realizing he had to reassure his wife first, since she was injured and lying in bed.
"Yuping, I'll tell you when you're healed and back home. It's not convenient to talk here."
As Qiu Jingwen spoke, he stroked his wife's hand.
Jiang Yuping didn't press the matter further. She knew that asking about the use of the three thousand yuan in the infirmary was indeed inappropriate.
A few minutes later, Wei Hong, having finished her work, came in again.
As soon as Qiu Jingwen saw Wei Hong enter, he made an excuse to urinate and left the ward.
He didn't go to the toilet, but hurriedly walked to the carport in front of the infirmary.
Qiu Jingwen found his wife's Phoenix bicycle in the bike shed and carefully inspected the front and rear brakes to see if there were any signs of vandalism.
However, after checking and finding no signs of vandalism, he returned to the ward.
Nevertheless, Qiu Jingwen still suspected that Liu Han had tampered with his wife's bicycle, or that he could only blame Liu Han for it.
As Wei Hong said, if Jiang Yuping hadn't been so listless and absent-minded, she probably wouldn't have fallen off her bicycle.
Soon it was noon, and Qiu Jingwen said to Wei Hong:
"Wei Hong, please stay here with Yu Ping. I'll go to the cafeteria and get three meals."
"Old Qiu, how can I let you, the director, go to the cafeteria to buy food? You stay here with Yuping, and I'll go get food for you two."
Jiang Yuping, who had already sat up, quickly interjected.
“Wei Hong, you stay here with me. Let Lao Qiu go. It's not right for him to buy food for his wife.”
"Should, should".
As Qiu Jingwen spoke, he turned and left the ward.
He wouldn't even flinch if he didn't buy his wife food, or even go through fire and water for her.
When Wei Hong returned from the cafeteria with her food, she was surprised to see the lavish spread and exclaimed:
