Chapter 33 Dreams and Reality

Since getting married, Jiang Yuping has occasionally suffered from headaches and sometimes talks strange nonsense.

In recent years, Qiu Jingwen recalls that his wife's headaches have not recurred. He attributes this to his wife being a doctor and that it was the result of her self-adjustment and treatment, so he has not paid much attention to it.

Qiu Jingwen never expected that his wife would be rolling around on the bed with her head in her hands, her face pale and in pain.

What surprised Qiu Jingwen even more was that his wife suddenly grabbed his hand and sat up abruptly in bed.

That wasn't all. Jiang Yuping reached out and immediately grabbed her husband's neck, shouting:

"Kagesa, you bastard, I'm going to kill you!"

After saying that, Jiang Yuping closed her eyes and fell backward onto the bed.

Looking at the beads of sweat on his wife's forehead, Qiu Jingwen thought that his wife might have had a nightmare. The Yingzuo she just mentioned must be a demonic figure from her dream.

Seeing his wife close her eyes, Qiu Jingwen didn't wake her up. Instead, he turned the fan towards his wife and took a handkerchief to gently wipe the sweat from her forehead.

Qiu Jingwen drank Erwotou (a type of Chinese liquor) only to pretend so he could explain to his wife when he got home that he had gone out to drink with a friend and had given him three thousand yuan. Although he knew his wife wouldn't believe him, that was all he could do.

He couldn't possibly tell his wife the truth: he met Liu Han by the stream in the forest, gave him the money Liu Han had extorted from him, and the other party even gave him the Bo Lang Ning sword he used when he was young in the Military Intelligence Bureau, which he hid under a beech tree.

Seeing that his wife seemed to have fallen asleep again, Qiu Jingwen breathed a sigh of relief.

At least right now, his wife won't ask him about his outing or who he gave the three thousand yuan to.

After more than two hours of running around and traversing the forest, Qiu Jingwen was already soaked in sweat.

He took clean clothes from the closet, tiptoed out of the bedroom, and then went to the bathroom.

By this time, the dormitory bathrooms would have been closed long ago; otherwise, he would have definitely gone to take a bath before coming back.

Qiu Jingwen was in the bathroom, washing himself with cold water. He recalled his meeting with Liu Han that night and suddenly felt it was very dramatic, as if he had stumbled into a dream.

What Qiu Jingwen didn't know was that Jiang Yuping was staring wide-eyed with a look of terror on her face.

When Jiang Yuping regained consciousness, she was so frightened that she was out of her wits.

At the same time, memories flooded back into my mind like a tidal wave.

That's right, the scene just now, where she sat up and grabbed her husband's neck, wasn't a dream, but rather a semi-conscious state.

Jiang Yuping, a doctor, was terrified by the memories in her mind.

Everything came to mind.

Her original name was Kawashima Eiko, and she lived in Harbin, the "Ice City," throughout her childhood.

Jiang Yuping also remembered that her father was Japanese, named Kawashima Ayan, and her mother was named Jiang Yunxi.

Recalling her childhood memories, Jiang Yuping was in tears.

Jiang Yuping recalled that her mother had told her that her father, Kawashima Ayan, was a Japanese soldier who was shot and killed by Kagesa for disobeying his order to massacre Chinese people. What was even more heinous was that after killing her father, Kagesa forcibly took possession of and raped her beautiful mother, Jiang Yunxi, and kept her under his control.

Later, her mother finally found a chance to escape from Yingzuo and took her, then five years old, to Shanghai to seek refuge with her uncle Jiang Gucheng, a businessman. Her uncle was a martial arts expert and a minor leader in the underworld. He taught her martial arts and kung fu from the age of six.

To avenge her father's death, at the age of eight, Kawashima Eiko happened to read in the newspaper that Kagesa had come to Shanghai from Northeast China and was working for the Mei Agency. Alone, carrying a packet of poison, she intended to find Kagesa and kill her father's killer. However, by a twist of fate, she was recruited by the Mei Agency and trained to become a top-notch female special agent.

The past events are vivid in my mind, like a dream.

Even Jiang Yuping couldn't tell whether it was reality or a dream.

Thinking about how she had just choked her husband Qiu Jingwen, her heart pounded wildly.

"Oh my god, did I just choke Jingwen?"

"Jingwen, did I pinch him too hard?"

"He won't think I'm going to kill him, will he? Will he blame me?"

"No, Jingwen must think I'm having a nightmare."

"How terrifying, so my father was Japanese?"

"I even received training at the Mei Agency. So, I was a secret agent during my teenage years?"

---

Jiang Yuping snapped out of her fragmented memories and was shocked by her own background and identity.

When they were dating, Qiu Jingwen pressed her about her parents and relatives. She only told him that her father had died at the hands of the Japanese when she was very young, and that her mother had taken her to live with her uncle, a businessman in Shanghai.

At the time, she couldn't remember many things, so it couldn't be considered that she had deceived Qiu Jingwen.

At this moment, Jiang Yuping recalled many past events, but only remembered a portion of them.

She also remembered that after the Japanese surrendered, Shanghai was bombed extensively. She, her mother, and her uncle were knocked unconscious by shells while fleeing, and it was her uncle who carried her to the hospital.

Everything makes sense now.

Over the years, she has occasionally suffered from headaches, and childhood memories sometimes flash back in the form of dreams.

As a doctor, Jiang Yuping naturally understood that her sudden recollection of many things from her childhood was directly related to the fall she had taken while riding her bicycle.

It was because of this fall that many things from my childhood and adolescence came back to me.
