Chapter 34 Murder Case

An investigation team composed of police officers from both the city and county levels quickly moved into the Hongqi Factory.

At the same time, information about sabotage by spies at several nearby military industrial enterprises also spread at the Hongqi Factory.

After the investigation team entered the Hongqi Factory, they first screened the files of cadres and employees, and then identified some suspicious individuals.

As the workshop director, Qiu Jingwen's personnel file and work performance over the years certainly do not make him a suspect. Qiu Jingwen himself is quite confident in this. After all, he was only sixteen years old when he was assigned to the Hongqi Medical Equipment Factory (the predecessor of the military factory) by two middle-aged men, and his background was clean.

On the morning of the seventh day after the investigation team arrived at Hongqi Factory, a male corpse was found in the woods of Juzigou.

The body was discovered by two workers from the Hongqi Factory workshop. They had arranged to go hunting in the woods on their day off.

In those days, hunting rifles weren't strictly regulated.

Many of the employees at the Hongqi Factory owned hunting rifles.

In their spare time, they would carry bags or snakeskin bags and go hunting in the Da Yu Mountain. Some would even bring water and dry food and stay in the forest for a whole day.

The mountain ecosystem is thriving and undisturbed, with pheasants and rabbits frequently appearing. Those with decent marksmanship rarely leave empty-handed.

As mentioned earlier, a large portion of the cadres and employees of the Hongqi Factory were demobilized soldiers, so they were quite familiar with hunting rifles and it was not difficult for them to go into Dayu Mountain and bring back some pheasants and wild game.

The two people who reported the case were both workers in the third workshop: one was fitter Sun Kai, and the other was milling machine operator Wang Youpeng.

They were both transferred from the same military unit to the Hongqi Factory. When they weren't on duty, they would go hunting in the mountains together.

As employees of a military factory, their living conditions were naturally quite good. To some extent, their hunting was not entirely for improving their lives, but more for enjoyment and hobby, much like how some people like fishing and others like playing chess or cards.

Sun Kai was the first to discover the male corpse.

At that moment, he was holding a hunting rifle and chasing a running rabbit.

Because I was running too fast, something tripped me up.

The trip caused him to drop his hunting rifle quite a distance.

Then, he immediately realized, oh my god, that there was a dead person lying beneath him!

In broad daylight, the discovery of a dead body startled even Sun Kai, a man who had served in the military, causing him to scream in terror.

After he screamed, he called out Wang Youpeng's name.

"Wang Youpeng, Wang Youpeng, come here right now! Someone's dead! Someone's dead!"

Sun Kai was so frightened that goosebumps rose all over his body.

He screamed as he rolled over the dead body.

He then quickly picked up the shotgun from the ground, turned around, and aimed it at the corpse on the ground.

His expression was terrified, and his appearance was somewhat comical; if it were filmed as a movie scene, it would definitely be hilarious.

Imagine aiming a shotgun at a corpse—isn't that a bit comical?

Upon hearing his hunting partner's scream, Wang Youpeng immediately ran over.

When the two men faced the dead body on the ground, they were naturally terrified.

The deceased was wearing a Hongqi factory uniform, although he appeared to be quite old.

Soon, the two of them calmed down from their initial shock.

After all, they were two grown men, and each of them was holding a shotgun. Even if the corpse on the ground stood up, they could still fire a couple of shots at the zombie.

"Judging from his appearance, he is a retired employee."

Sun Kai stared at the male corpse on the ground.

Wang Youpeng nodded.

"Probably, they were wearing our Hongqi factory uniform."

As they talked, they observed the deceased's appearance.

The deceased was none other than Liu Han.

He died seemingly peacefully, with little expression of pain on his face.

He even gave a slight smile.

The scar on my cheek isn't as dark anymore; it's starting to turn a waxy yellow.

He was dressed neatly in his work clothes, and his yellow sneakers were also on his feet in perfect condition.

Sun Kai and Wang Youpeng had both served in the military. After observing for a while, Sun Kai said:

“Wang Youpeng, look, there are no signs of a struggle at the scene, so it must have been a natural death.”

Wang Youpeng, however, holds the opposite opinion.

He thought for a moment, then shook his head and said:

“Sun Kai, recently the city and county public security officers set up an investigation team at our factory. They are investigating enemy agents. Maybe this old man didn’t die of natural causes, but was murdered.”

"Wang Youpeng, are you saying that this person was killed by spies? But why would spies kill an old man?"

“Sun Kai, if we can wake up this old comrade, we’ll find out the truth once we ask him.”

Such conversations no longer carried much fear.

Sun Kai looked at Wang Youpeng and patted the bag on his shoulder.

"Wang Youpeng, damn it, let's just skip the hunting today. Let's hurry back to the factory and report the case. Luckily, the city and county police are here too. Once they solve the case, we'll know whether this person died of natural causes or was murdered. Let's not get dragged into this later."

So the two men, carrying their hunting rifles, hurriedly returned to the factory to report the incident.

After reporting the case, Liang Damin, the head of the security department, immediately reported to Shao Jian, the leader of the investigation team.

Shao Jian gave Liang Damin some instructions, and then led a few members of the investigation team in a military jeep to the vicinity of the crime scene.

Following behind was an ambulance from the factory clinic.

The ambulance followed, not to rescue anyone, but to transport the body.

The jeep and ambulance couldn't get into the woods, so they had to park on the outskirts.
