Chapter 35 Autopsy Results

at this time,

News of the murder had already spread throughout the entire infirmary.

Wei Hong was chatting with Jiang Yuping in the office. They only knew that someone had been killed, but they didn't know who the person was.

"Yu Ping, do you think there really are enemy agents infiltrated into our Hongqi Factory?"

Wei Hong suddenly asked her best friend.

Jiang Yuping flipped through the book absentmindedly, and after a few seconds, she looked up at Wei Hong to respond to her best friend.

"Well, anything is possible. Enemy agents can infiltrate anywhere."

Wei Hong reached out and pressed down on Jiang Yuping's hand as she turned the pages of the book.

"Yu Ping, I heard that a body has been brought to our medical morgue. Why don't we go and see what's going on and find out who the dead person is?"

Jiang Yuping refused outright, shaking her head as she looked at Wei Hong.

“Wei Hong, I don’t want to get involved in that. You used to be a forensic doctor and you’re not afraid of dead people, but I can’t stand seeing dead people.”

Wei Hong scoffed at her best friend.

"Yu Ping, you're a surgeon, why are you afraid of a dead person? You learned human anatomy in medical school, didn't you?"

Jiang Yuping looked at Wei Hong and said irritably:

"Of course I'm not afraid of dead people, but I'm afraid of living people, is that wrong?"

Wei Hong didn't understand what her best friend meant, nor did she expect her best friend to be complaining.

"Yu Ping, what do you mean by that?"

Jiang Yuping lowered her head to read her book and completely ignored her best friend.

Just then, Liang Damin suddenly pushed open the door and walked in.

He explained to Wei Hong the investigation team leader's intention: to ask her to temporarily act as a forensic doctor and examine the cause of death.

As a doctor, Wei Hong naturally couldn't refuse, so she followed Liang Damin out.

As she reached the door, she turned back to look at her best friend.

“Yu Ping, since you’re free right now, why don’t you come with me to examine the body?”

Jiang Yuping shook her head at her best friend.

“Wei Hong, you know I’m afraid of seeing dead people. I’m not going. In this hot summer, I think the corpses will smell terrible.”

Wei Hong stopped insisting.

As her best friend, she knew that Jiang Yuping was a clean person and definitely couldn't stand seeing dead people.

When Liu Han was examined, not only Wei Hong, but also members of the investigation team were present.

When Wei Hong saw Liu Han's corpse, she opened her mouth and cried out in surprise.

"Ah, is it this old man?!"

She never expected that it was the old man who had been watching them from the top of Orange Gully that morning, and that this old man had even eaten in the factory canteen, sitting at the table behind Qiu Jingwen.

Seeing Wei Hong's surprise, one of the police officers in the investigation team frowned and asked her:

"Dr. Wei, do you know this deceased person?"

As Wei Hong put on her gloves, she recounted how she and Jiang Yuping had encountered Liu Han on two separate occasions.

The police officers around him didn't seem to care and simply grunted in response.

The autopsy results came out in about twenty minutes.

Led by Liang Damin, Wei Hong arrived at the conference room and reported the autopsy findings to the investigation team.

She glanced at Shao Jian, then explained to everyone:

"Through the autopsy, I determined that the elderly man was murdered, and the time of the murder should be between four and six in the morning."

"There are two possible causes of death. One is that someone drove a nail into the back of the deceased's head, causing the death."

"Of course, this should be the surface phenomenon and cause. There is another possibility: the deceased was poisoned and then a nail was inserted into the back of his head, because potassium cyanide, a highly toxic substance, was found in the deceased's body."

After Wei Hong finished her narration, she also reported on the professional data obtained from the corpse.

After listening, the members of the investigation team all nodded slightly.

Shao Jian had been listening intently, deep in thought. He looked at Wei Hong and asked:

"Dr. Wei, did the deceased die from potassium cyanide poisoning, or from being driven into a nail?"

Wei Hong thought for a moment, then looked at Shao Jian and shared her thoughts:

"Personally, I lean towards the latter possibility. After all, it's very difficult to drive a nail directly into the back of a person's head. That's the only judgment and conclusion I can give. You should send an expert over. I haven't done forensic work for many years, and there have been many changes in tools and techniques."

Shao Jian affirmed and praised Wei Hong's work.

"Thank you, Dr. Wei."

Wei Hong also exchanged some polite words, saying things like it was what a doctor should do.

"Distinguished leaders, this is what I should do. After all, I've worked as a forensic doctor."

At this point, she stared at Shao Jian:

"Boss, I'll go wash and disinfect my hands first. If needed, just have Liang Ke call me anytime."

Shao Jian nodded, thanked her again, and then watched Wei Hong leave the conference room.

The meeting continued as they conducted a comprehensive review and analysis of the case.

Since she was murdered, who is the killer?

Why would a murderer kill an elderly man who was nearly seventy years old?

Furthermore, if the autopsy results are as Wei Hong's, where did the murderer get the potassium cyanide?

It's important to know that potassium cyanide is a highly toxic and prohibited chemical substance, something that ordinary people cannot possess or obtain.

Shao Jian and the investigation team members naturally realized that perhaps only enemy agents would possess potassium cyanide.

The question is, why would a hostile agent kill an old man?

Did the old man know the killer's identity and secrets, and the killer murdered the victim because he was afraid of being exposed?

If so, how did the old man know the identity of the enemy agent?

Many questions and inferences were discussed at the meeting.

While the investigation team members and Liang Damin were speculating and discussing the identity of the deceased and the possibility of the murderer, Wei Hong, who had washed and disinfected her hands, had already returned to her office.
