Chapter 8 Abnormalities and Strangeness

The autumn harvest, having been slapped in the face, was completely stunned.

He stared at his father with tears welling up in his eyes, frozen in place, too afraid to move.

Jiang Yuping and Wei Hong both stared at Qiu Jingwen with surprised expressions.

They know it all too well.

Over the years, Qiu Jingwen has always been known for his gentle and refined manners, both at the factory and at home. When has he ever been so fierce to the children?

Not to mention he reached out and slapped his son across the face.

Qiu Chan and Qiu Shui were also terrified when their father yelled at them!

They couldn't understand why their father seemed like a completely different person today; his expression had never been so serious before!

After a moment of surprise, Jiang Yuping looked at Qiu Jingwen and smiled gently.

“Dad, it’s not dark yet. It’s just autumn harvest and cicadas. There’s nothing wrong with playing around in the dormitory area. Why are you being so harsh on the child? Wei Hong is still here.”

Although he wore a smile, his words revealed doubt and dissatisfaction.

Qiu Jingwen suddenly realized that he had gone too far and reacted too strongly.

He knew what he was worried about.

He dared not tell anyone about this worry.

I can't tell my wife and her best friend Wei Hong, and I can't tell the children.

Now,

There's a spy outside codenamed Rattlesnake, but we don't know where he's hiding.

Then, I'll tell everyone that the rattlesnake Liu Han is very dangerous. I told him before that he had killed many people.

This ruthless guy has now found Qiu Jingwen. Can he really let his child go out to play without worry?

Even if it offends his wife and children, even if Wei Hong notices that he is acting strangely, he cannot let the children go out and take risks.

"Autumn harvest, autumn cicadas, autumn waters, I'll say it again, stay home, don't go out, read books, write."

"It's getting dark, what's the point of playing? What's fun outside? Huh?"

"No one is allowed to leave! I said, everyone go back to your rooms!"

Qiu Jingwen still couldn't control himself and looked furious.

After saying that, he picked up the glass, downed it in one gulp, and then slammed it down on the table.

Autumn harvest, autumn cicadas, autumn waters.

Seeing that their father rarely lost his temper like this, none of the three children dared to speak.

They all stared at Qiu Jingwen with strange looks, as if they were looking at a stranger.

With Wei Hong still on the table, Jiang Yuping knew her husband was preoccupied, so she looked at the three children.

"Autumn Harvest, Autumn Cicada, Autumn Water, you three siblings shouldn't go out. It's getting dark. Go to the living room or your own room to read or write."

As she spoke, she turned to look at Qiu Jingwen, but said to the children:

“Your dad has a slight fever today, so I asked your Aunt Wei to bring some medicine over.”

Jiang Yuping's words had a double meaning.

As his wife, Jiang Yuping had no idea what was wrong with her husband today; he seemed to be on drugs.

Does having a fever make you feel bad?

Or, is there a problem with the management of the workshop?

Or perhaps, her husband was called to the factory director's and party secretary's offices today and was scolded?

Jiang Yuping could only think in these directions.

After all, this was the first time her husband had acted so strangely!

After the three children left the restaurant, she looked at Qiu Jingwen again.

Jiang Yuping didn't blame her; instead, she smiled, after all, her best friend was still at the dinner table.

"Jingwen, what's wrong with you today? Is it something that happened in the workshop, or is there something else?"

Qiu Jingwen exhaled a breath of alcohol, looked up at Jiang Yuping, then at Wei Hong, shook his head, and tears welled up in his eyes.

He knew he had acted very strangely and gone too far today; this was the first time he had ever lost his temper with the children like this.

"I'm sorry Yuping, I'm sorry Wei Hong, I went a bit too far, but it's nothing, let's drink."

After saying that, he picked up his glass and clinked it against Wei Hong's glass, then against Jiang Yuping's glass, and then downed it in one gulp.

Neither Jiang Yuping nor Wei Hong said anything more.

They picked up their glasses and took a sip, but didn't finish them; each person drank about half a glass.

Jiang Yuping didn't know what Wei Hong was thinking, but she thought that her husband must have a lot of worries. This was the first time since they got married that her husband had lost his temper so much at the child! It was also the first time he had slapped their son, Qiushou.

When the children were still little, they cried day and night, and we had to wash diapers and such, but I never saw my husband Qiu Jingwen lose his temper like this today!

My best friend is still here, so I can only wait until I get into the bedroom and go to bed at night to talk to my husband and ask him what happened.

The subsequent drinks lost their lively atmosphere and even became somewhat awkward.

After dinner, Wei Hong glanced at her watch and saw that it was almost eight o'clock, so she got up to say goodbye to Qiu Jingwen and his wife.

After seeing Wei Hong off, Jiang Yuping didn't say anything and handed the fever-reducing medicine that Wei Hong had brought over to Qiu Jingwen.

"This is Analgin that Wei Hong brought over. Why don't you take one? I feel like you have a pretty high fever today!"

Qiu Jingwen could tell, of course, that his wife's words about the high fever were not only a double entendre, but also clearly carried a hint of resentment and sarcasm.

After all, Wei Hong had just been sitting at the table, yelling at the children with a red face and thick neck, which was unlike him before and made the scene somewhat awkward.

Knowing he was in the wrong, Qiu Jingwen took the medicine, said thank you, and then left the restaurant and returned to his bedroom.

Jiang Yuping hurriedly tidied up the pots and pans and immediately returned to her bedroom.

When she opened the bedroom door, she was terrified by the room filled with smoke.

Before she could say anything, Qiu Jingwen asked her:
