Chapter 82 The Strange Father

Jiang Yuping did not answer her daughter's question.

She gently hugged Qiuyue, then let go.

“Good daughter, don’t pressure your mother. I’ve said it before, you’ll know when the time comes. Go and call your father out for dinner.”

Qiu Yue seemed determined to get to the bottom of things, stubbornly asking:

"Mom, you don't have to tell me the specifics, but can you tell me if it's your problem or my dad's problem?"

Jiang Yuping answered without hesitation.

“It’s my problem, it has nothing to do with your dad.”

Qiuyue didn't press the matter further, but turned and left.

She hurriedly pushed open the door to her parents' bedroom and went straight to the balcony.

Seeing her father smoking incessantly, she walked up to Qiu Jingwen.

Qiu Jingwen naturally knew that his daughter had come, and looked up at Qiu Yue.

"Qiuyue, you're not a child anymore. Don't you even ask before entering your parents' bedroom?"

Ever since his son exposed his naked body during the autumn harvest, Qiu Jingwen has been annoyed by his children barging into his bedroom.

Qiu Yue did not answer her father's question, but stared at Qiu Jingwen's face.

"Dad, I've started working and even dating. Tell me, what exactly happened to our family? What did Mom do? Did she kill someone or commit arson? You told my brother, so why can't you tell me? Is it because I'm a daughter? You favor boys over girls!"

Qiuyue felt that she had made herself very clear.

Upon hearing this, Qiu Jingwen's face immediately darkened, and he shouted at his daughter:

"Qiuyue, don't talk nonsense. What murder and arson? Does your mother look like that? I'm telling you seriously, none of this has anything to do with your mother. You must remember that."

At this point, his face fell.

"You're talking about your brother? Can you compare to him? He's the eldest son of this family, and you're a daughter. You'll get married sooner or later. Stop asking questions. If you think I'm sexist, then so be it. Get out of here!"

Qiu Jingwen spoke very loudly.

This size made Qiuyue feel a sense of unfamiliarity with her father for the first time.

She first looked at her father with a face full of surprise, then looked aggrieved, and tears welled up in her eyes.

"Dad, please tell me, I was by the Huai River today when the image of Mom being handcuffed and taken away by the police suddenly popped into my mind. My heart aches so much, but I don't know why."

"What did you say? Your mother was handcuffed and taken away by the police?"

"It was a scene that flashed through my mind, and I had a bad feeling about it. I just asked my mom, but she won't say anything. Dad, please, tell your daughter, did Mom kill that barber?"

Qiu Jingwen was stunned by his daughter's words!

How could my daughter have such thoughts?

Where did the information, or rather the inferences, about the daughter come from?

Could it be that rumors are already circulating within the Hongqi Factory that Liu Han's wife, Jiang Yuping, is the murderer?

Time seemed to freeze at that moment.

Qiu Jingwen did not respond. He simply took his daughter's hand and led her back to the bedroom, then slammed the door leading from the bedroom to the balcony shut.

"Qiuyue, have you lost your mind, or is sheer magic? Who told you that your mother murdered Liu Han? What are you yelling about? Do you want the whole world to know that the murder case is related to your mother?"

Yes, in his haste, Qiu Jingwen mistakenly said Liu Han instead of Liu Xianghai.

In his mind, there was no such thing as Liu Xianghai, only the veteran agent Liu Han. Liu Xianghai was just an alias for Liu Han.

Qiuyue was speechless after being scolded by her father.

The father's lesson was that such a murder should not be shouted out on the balcony.

But she quickly realized what was happening and looked at Qiu Jingwen with tears streaming down her face.

"Dad, what did you just say? Liu Han? Who is Liu Han? Is he that barber?"

Just then, Jiang Yuping pushed open the door and walked in.

In fact, while she was busy in the kitchen, she heard her husband and daughter talking loudly.

Jiang Yuping knew very well that Qiuyue had asked her for an answer but to no avail, so she went to her husband for the answer.

Moreover, she was quite certain that her husband, Qiu Jingwen, would never tell their daughter the truth.

Seeing tears welling up in her daughter's eyes, she said to Qiu Jingwen:

“Dad, why don’t we tell Qiuyue? She’s all grown up now, and they’ll have to face and bear everything sooner or later.”

Qiu Jingwen directly changed the subject:

"Yuping, what nonsense are you talking about? Have you lost your mind? Is dinner ready? Come and eat, I'm hungry."

As he spoke, he gazed at the autumn moon.

"Qiuyue, you are our good daughter. Don't be so immature. Even though you've started working, in our eyes you're still a child. What I can tell you is that there are problems in our family, but it's not your mother, it's your father, me. You'll understand everything in the future, and maybe it won't be long."

Just then, Qiu Chan and Qiu Shou, who had already eaten a piece of cake, came over after hearing the noise.

Qiuyue was, after all, a grown-up, and she understood that both her father's and mother's problems were of paramount importance.

Such a thing is something only she and her brother can bear; her younger sisters and brothers are still too young to know about it.

Qiu Shou's dark eyes darted around, and he glanced at his parents and sister Qiu Yue before speaking:

"Mom and Dad, and sister, what are you doing? Sister, why are you crying? Is it because Mom and Dad don't approve of you dating Liang Guoping?"

Qiuyue snapped at her younger brother, clearly annoyed:

"Autumn Harvest, what do you know about dating? Get out---"
