Chapter 91 Chess Game

Because there was a dinner party that evening, the family ate a very simple lunch. They didn't even cook rice; they just ate flatbread. Qiu Shui had made too much dough yesterday, and the flatbread wasn't finished yet. However, in the middle of summer, the flatbread already had a faint sour smell.

Around 2 p.m., Liang Damin knocked on the door and came in.

Since Liu Han was murdered in Orange Valley, he and Qiu Jingwen have not played chess.

On the one hand, the investigation team was under too much pressure, and it involved a spy case. After Liu Han was murdered, Niu Dajiang then hanged himself, confirming that Liu Han was a spy who had been hiding for many years. As the head of the security department and the deputy head of the investigation team, Liang Damin naturally had no time to play chess with Qiu Jingwen.

Furthermore, Jiang Yuping was summoned to the investigation room for questioning twice, and Shao Jian monitored Qiu Jingwen and his wife, which made Liang Damin even more hesitant to contact them.

Yesterday, Qiu Jingwen invited him to dinner today, and he also wanted to take the opportunity to get to know Qiu Jingwen. He had many questions for Qiu Jingwen, or rather, he wanted to probe Qiu Jingwen's situation and analyze whether Qiu Jingwen had any problems.

After eating, Qiu Jingwen took a nap. Although he didn't sleep soundly, he was in good spirits.

Seeing Liang Damin enter carrying two bottles of Xifeng liquor, he immediately led Liang Damin to the living room, and then said to Qiuyue:

"Qiuyue, brew some tea for your Uncle Liang and me, and we'll play a few rounds of chess."

Qiu Jingwen knew that his daughter Qiuyue was dating Liang Guoping. In a sense, Liang Damin was his daughter's future father-in-law. However, he was well aware that once his identity as a spy was exposed, it was uncertain whether the marriage would fall through or end.

Everything depends on how things develop and whether the two people and their child truly love each other.

Qiu Yue responded and quickly brewed a pot of tea, then poured a cup for Liang Damin and his father, Qiu Jingwen.

Liang Damin glanced at Qiu Yue and said thank you.

But to his surprise, Qiuyue ignored him and turned away.

This made Liang Damin feel a little embarrassed, but he didn't think much of it and quickly set up the chess pieces on the chessboard with Qiu Jingwen.

As Qiu Yue already knew about her family's situation, that her father was a secret agent and a murderer, how could she possibly think that Liang Damin was her future father-in-law?

Moreover, ever since she learned the family secret, she has ignored Liang Guoping after returning to work, leaving Liang Guoping completely bewildered, wondering what had gotten into Qiuyue.

Qiu Jingwen and Liang Damin were playing chess, while Qiu Shou sat on the side watching.

A floor fan was set to oscillate by Qiu Jingwen. The wind coming out of the fan would blow on Liang Damin one moment and on Qiu Jingwen the next.

At first, the game didn't progress much, and soon the two sides were deadlocked.

As Liang Damin lowered the cannon to the bottom, preparing to bombard the veteran Qiu Jingwen, he quietly gazed at Qiu Jingwen, who was deep in thought.

However, Qiu Jingwen stared at the chessboard, as if he was thinking about something.

"Old Qiu, are you daydreaming?"

"My cannon was about to bombard you, old general, and you didn't even react?"

"What are you thinking about?"

As Liang Damin spoke, his eyes were fixed intently on Qiu Jingwen's eyes.

It seemed they were trying to find the secret in Qiu Jingwen's eyes.
