Half a year later,
Qiu Shui's novels have been published and are now available in bookstores across the country.
Qiu Shui also gained some fame because of this novel. Through an introduction, she joined the city's Writers Association directly based on this novel and became a female writer.
What excited her even more was that a director had taken a liking to the novel and contacted her to discuss the copyright, preparing to make it into a movie.
With the success of her novel and the recommendation of Commander Wang Chen, Qiu Shui got a job at a newspaper affiliated with the military. Although her formal employment status was not yet secured, it was only a matter of time.
"Qiushui, congratulations!"
When Qiu Shui brought the published book home, her mother offered her heartfelt congratulations.
Qiu Shui smiled broadly, put her arm around Jiang Yuping, and said, "Mom, I told you so! I can become a writer. Isn't this a dream come true?"
Jiang Yuping held her daughter's hand and said, "Qiushui, you're not getting any younger. Shouldn't you be looking for a boyfriend? Don't you have a boyfriend you like?"
"Mom, I'm still so young, I don't want to be in a relationship."
"Are you speaking from the heart?"
"Of course, that's what I really think."
"Then why does Wang Hao keep coming to our house every few days?"
"Tch, it's his business if you want to be with him, I can't stop him from coming to our house."
Wang Hao is Wang Chen's grandson. He is serving in the military and has already reached the rank of company commander.
Since Qiu Jingwen's family moved to Beijing, the two families have been in frequent contact. Wang Hao fell in love with Qiu Shui at first sight. The military compound was nearby, and he would go to Qiu Jingwen's house whenever he had free time, either to invite Qiu Shui to dinner or to the movies.
Jiang Yuping knew in her heart that although her daughter wouldn't admit it, she must have already fallen for the handsome and dashing Wang Hao.
Just then, Wang Hao knocked on the door and came in.
Holding flowers and carrying gifts, he greeted Jiang Yuping with a "Hello, Auntie" upon seeing her, and then presented the flowers to Qiu Shui: "Qiu Shui, congratulations on the publication of your masterpiece! I just checked at the bookstore, and quite a few people are buying your book."
In fact, Wang Hao also showed concern and support for the publication of Qiu Shui's books. He was familiar with the military publishing house, and not only did he not charge any fees for publishing, but he also gave copyright fees and a share of the profits.
"Wang Hao, thank you so much. You've put in a lot of effort for the book's publication."
Seeing that the young man was getting along well, Jiang Yuping glanced at her watch and said, "Qiushui, Mom has something to do at work. You chat with your brother Hao and eat at home. You can cook for yourself."
After Jiang Yuping left, Wang Hao grabbed Qiu Shui's hand and said with a smile, "Qiu Shui, come on, I'll treat you to a big meal, and then we'll watch a movie together. It's my way of congratulating you on the publication of your new book."
Qiu Shui waved his hand and said, "No, I still have to write. I need to write better novels and get closer to becoming a famous writer."
"Dating is a good idea, it might even give you some inspiration."
Qiu Shui smiled and said, "Who said I wanted to date you?"
"Are you really going to write at home?"
"Of course it's true."
"Then I won't bother you any longer. I have things to do with my team. I just came to give you some flowers and congratulate you."
Just as Wang Hao was about to leave, Qiu Shui grabbed him and scolded, "Wang Hao, how could you go back on your word? You just said you would treat me to a big meal and a movie, and now you're leaving."
After saying that, she pushed Wang Hao toward the door, saying as she did so, "Fine, fine, go away. I never want to see you again."
Wang Hao didn't say anything, just looked at Qiu Shui, and then reached out and pulled her into his arms.
Qiu Shui blushed and felt her heart pound wildly as she was suddenly embraced.
This was the first time she had accepted a hug from Wang Hao since they met.
In just a moment, Qiu Shui pushed Wang Hao away and complained, "You brat, Wang Hao, you've got some nerve! I'm going to tell your grandpa you're bullying me."
Just then, the phone rang at home.
Qiu Shui walked quickly to the telephone, picked up the receiver, and heard that it was a reporter calling to interview her. The reporter asked if she had time, and Qiu Shui told the reporter that she could accept the interview and arranged a place and time.
After hanging up the phone, Wang Hao looked at Qiu Shui warily: "Qiu Shui, who asked you to do an interview? Was it a male reporter?"
"Yes, it's from the Beijing Evening News."
"Then I'll go with you."
"Why are you following me around while I'm being interviewed? Are you worried I'll be kidnapped?"
"I---I want to be your protector," Wang Hao said, scratching his head, looking somewhat embarrassed.
He added, "If all else fails, you can do the interview, and we'll wait for you outside."
Since meeting Qiu Shui, Wang Hao had always felt superior, after all, he was the old chief's grandson. However, when Qiu Shui published his novel, he inexplicably felt a sense of crisis. After all, there weren't many people who became writers at Qiu Shui's age, and in that era, writers were an enviable and respected figure wherever they went.
"Okay, I agree to let you be my protector."
Qiu Shui agreed to let Wang Hao follow.
She put on some simple makeup and went downstairs.
Wang Hao drove a military jeep and brought Qiu Shui to a newspaper office.
After the interview, the reporter invited Qiu Shui to stay for a meal, but Wang Hao declined, saying, "Thank you, but my girlfriend has a dinner engagement. I'll treat you to dinner another day."
After leaving the newspaper office and getting into the car, Qiu Shui laughed and said, "Wang Hao, who is your girlfriend? Don't spread rumors everywhere. I never agreed to be your girlfriend."
"-----".
Wang Hao did not respond and drove directly to a restaurant.
The two had a sumptuous lunch, and then Wang Hao watched a movie with Qiu Shui.
Unexpectedly, the evening paper published the interview with Qiu Shui the next day. Not only that, but also a beautiful photo of Qiu Shui was published. It was a photo that Qiu Shui had provided to the reporter beforehand, taken at the military factory.
