Best Actor

Best Actor

As always, Taipei's Xinyi District is ablaze with activity, its lights shining brightly as if it were daytime. At a major cinema, the highly anticipated premiere of the award-winning film "Fudu Youth" has just concluded, leaving the air thick with lingering excitement and warmth.

The post-screening meeting ended and actor Wu Kanglun was about to leave.

The theater hall was now buzzing with excitement, with countless audiences and fans crowding around, all holding their hands high. Each of them held a mobile phone, with the built-in flashlights of their phones flashing one after another, making the route leading to the end of the show completely blocked.

A slightly plump female fan, holding her mobile phone high, with the camera fixed on Wu Kanglun, followed him closely, with an expression of ecstasy on her face after seeing her idol.

A tall staff member of the film company, with an impatient look on his face, rudely made way for Wu Kanglun.

He swung his arm and knocked the phone held high by the female fan right away, and the force pushed her to the side.

"Ah!" the female fan screamed, and her phone fell to the ground with a "bang". She staggered and her forehead was about to hit the cold, hard wall.

At the critical moment, Jin Cang in the crowd was quick-witted and quick-handed. He stretched out his long arm and caught the female fan in front of him with his palm; the other hand firmly supported her shaking body.

"How could you do this!" Jin Cang's voice was filled with anger, loud and straightforward, and particularly clear in the noise.

Wu Kanglun was being surrounded by people and walking forward when he heard a shout. He stopped and looked over. Seeing the situation, he immediately pushed aside the people in front of him and quickly stepped forward to take a look.

"Sorry, we were wrong." Wu Kanglun's voice was sincere. He looked at the shocked female fan and asked, "Are you okay?"

When the female fan saw the actor personally coming to her to show concern, her face instantly turned red, with a mixture of excitement and surprise. She waved her hands repeatedly: "No...it's okay...it's okay! Wu Kanglun, I like you so much!" She almost jumped up, completely forgetting her previous embarrassment.

Wu Kanglun smiled at her soothingly, then turned to Jin Cang, his eyes lingering on him for a few seconds, his eyes filled with visible approval and inquiry.

He patted Jin Cang's shoulder and said in a low voice, "So handsome, you are an actor too, right?"

Jin Cang's heart skipped a beat and his cheeks felt a little hot. He met Wu Kanglun's gaze. Those eyes had once carried thrilling souls on countless big screens.

"Not yet," he said, trying to keep his voice steady. "I love your Termite. I've read it five times."

Wu Kanglun's eyes widened in surprise upon hearing this, his expression as sincere as a child's. "Really? But that movie didn't do well at the box office."

"It's great." Jin Cang's tone was extremely serious, and every word came from the heart. "It was the first time I felt that an actor could risk his life for a role to that extent." That was his initial and most profound enlightenment to acting.

At this moment, a staff member from the film company came forward anxiously, whispering, "Brother Kanglun, the next show is in Ximending. We're almost too late."

Wu Kanglun nodded, but did not turn around immediately. He looked deeply into Jin Cang's eyes again. His eyes were clear and sharp, and he saw through everything.

"Promise me you'll become an actor," he said firmly. "Your eyes are so pure, they can hold any story."

Jin Cang's chest was filled with a huge warm current. He nodded vigorously, his tone more resolute than ever before in his life: "Believe me, I will!"

Wu Kanglun smiled, and that smile was warm, bright and full of power.

He turned around, and before being surrounded by the crowd and left, he turned back and said one last word to Jin Cang, his voice so solemn: "I'll wait for you."

Wu Kanglun has been in the film industry for 18 years and has won both the Golden Bell and Golden Horse Best Actor awards.

For Yu Jincang, he is not only a god, but also the purest and most ultimate belief in the art of "performance".

Jin Cang had sat upright and watched many of Wu Kanglun's classic roles, almost holding his breath.

Those performances convinced him that if someone ever told him, "You'll die if you act like this," Wu Kanglun would answer without hesitation, "I'll die!"

What a happy life it would be if you could be so determined to do something!

Jin Cang stood there in a daze, watching Wu Kanglun's receding back until the figure disappeared at the end of the crowd.

The blood in every vein of every limb is still surging and roaring.

The actor naturally didn't realize how his casual words, "I'll wait for you," were a groundbreaking, soul-shaking encouragement and call to the young boy who was looking up to him. Those three words, like a ray of light, split the fog before him and illuminated the path ahead.

A Cang clenched his fists, and a voice in his heart shouted: Wu Kanglun, wait for me!
