earth element
The creepy laughter was erratic, and the deputy forced a smile and said, "This, this is the lair of Tuxingsun, the master of the land."
I think although he can still talkatively, it is clear that his defenses have collapsed, and the tone of his voice is as circuitous as a cat's meow.
Well, I'm not doing any better.
What I fear most in disaster movies is the scene where the protagonist is trapped in the vast ocean, with a group of great white sharks swimming by looming outside the shabby little kayak.
Although it is muddy ground now, it feels the same. The tension of being submerged at any time makes people dare not breathe.
Sanyi was already reflecting on himself, and smiled helplessly at me, "To be honest, this is the native home of the people. We came here without asking, smashing and knocking, kicking and taking things away, just like robbers entering the village. Now we have been caught by the owner, and we are in the wrong, and we are trapped in the vast sea of people."
I was furious and said, "Stop talking nonsense. How can you be so out of touch with reality when you look like a decent person?" The fear in my heart subsided a little.
But just as the anger here subsided a little, another kind of chest tightness came up, because I realized that something was wrong. Where are those fake people squatting in the corner? We didn't notice them, but they also eat and do nothing?
He suddenly became furious and scolded both Mizang and the even more outrageous Zhang Tianyi.
The guys around me didn't know who I was scolding and looked at each other in confusion.
Only the deputy seemed to have recovered a little, and subconsciously asked, "Advisor, where is your secret weapon? Isn't it the last one to appear?" After he said that, he realized that my face had turned green, and he shrank his head and dared not say another word.
After venting my emotions, I thought about it and felt that something was indeed wrong. Where did the person who was hiding go?
If they were just mentally ill and liked to grow mushrooms in the dark corners and watch us get into trouble, why did they come here so early and leave a mark for me, and then disappear for a long time? Could it be that they were tripped up by something and couldn't show up?
At this time, in the sound of the wind created by the helicopter, a group of guys had been hoisted up and were standing still on it like they were practicing standing meditation.
I watched them go up one by one, and I made a random complaint. I thought to myself, if someone came over at this time, they would not expect that there was a large army squatting on their heads, and they would be scared to death by a sudden shout. It reminded me of the hellish joke about the Vietnamese forest that could talk.
As I was complaining in my heart, I was suddenly stunned and a strange chill rose from my heart.
Wait, are these all the monsters in the soil? What if they have more troops that haven't arrived yet, and we just encountered some advance guards?
There are monkeys in the group who are responsible for keeping watch outside and issuing warnings. It doesn't make sense that something that looks more intelligent would be worse than a monkey.
Looking down below, I saw that it was so quiet that even the sharp laughter gradually disappeared. My foreboding feeling became even stronger.
I swallowed and asked above me: "How long will it take us all to get up there? Can we go faster?"
The people in the channel also sensed my nervousness and had a quick discussion. Sanyi, who was still protecting me, thought for a moment and said:
"Have the guys who have already climbed up lower their hooks, and the rest of you should stop waiting and use the hooks to climb up by stepping on the stone pillars.
It’s just that the blade of the stone pillar is sharp, so you have to be careful when using it to gain leverage, and try to keep the sole of your shoe perpendicular to the surface of the stone pillar, otherwise you will be cut quickly.”
He did it right away. He demonstrated it by wrapping the hanging rope around his waist and arms twice, then he exerted his whole body strength to jump lightly upwards, put his feet on the stone pillar, and moved his center of gravity towards the vertical direction of the stone pillar.
There was a slight "hissing" sound, and the sole of his shoe sank slightly into the cut.
"It's a bit difficult, but it shouldn't be a problem once you get used to it." Sanyi tried to move and motioned for others to follow, and he assisted from the side.
Without further ado, the guys who had already gone up moved to the edge of the stone forest, lowered ropes from above, and lay prone on the top flat surfaces of the numerous stone pillars.
After testing the strength of the rope, we all went up one after another. At this time, we could see how solid our training was. Some of the light guys swam up as fast as natural geckos.
Occasionally, there were a few big and clumsy people who could not stand steadily and their feet would tilt. The leather and rubber on the soles of their shoes would be silently scraped off, exposing their feet in cold sweat. San Yi would then pull the rope and swing over, gently kicking them away from the side so that they could readjust themselves.
I hung on the helicopter's soft ladder, and I climbed up almost synchronously with the guys who were climbing. My assistant was just as weak as I was, and he also hung on the rope and watched nervously, dumbfounded by San Yi's skills.
As I watched, I thought to myself that Sanyi's skills were hidden. He must have been holding back when he first demonstrated. Then I looked at his back. The more I looked at him, the more familiar he looked. It was as if I had seen him many times before.
Before I had time to think about it, there was movement below again, and the sound of the water waves somehow became much louder.
Damn, this group of mandrills surrounded us, they really are waiting for the main force to arrive! Those pseudo-humans hiding in the corner and disappearing without a trace would not have run into their main force long ago!
I was startled and immediately shouted, "Hurry up!" The helicopter climbed rapidly and took me away from the ground.
At this moment of rising, a short figure suddenly jumped out from somewhere, wet and covered with mud and water, and jumped towards me. His sharp palm just brushed past my calf and missed.
But when the ghost thing failed and fell down, it suddenly hit the stone pillar, and using the force to jump up again, it jumped directly off the ladder.
The deputy screamed and kicked, and at the same time, the racket in his hand emitted flames.
There were a few chilling muffled sounds. The skin of the mandrill seemed to be much tougher than that of its peers. The bullets did not penetrate deeply into the flesh and were all stuck in the skin. It screamed with anger and resentment in pain and opened its mouth, revealing long yellow fangs with barbs on them.
If the bite is solid, the calf may be comminuted.
I was unable to rescue him in time, and was extremely upset and frightened. I could already see the bloody and tragic scene in front of my eyes.
Unexpectedly, the mandrill raised its head and looked at us in a very human way, then gave a sinister laugh. Instead of attacking our deputy, it jumped over our heads and quickly climbed up the ladder.
"—it's going to get on the helicopter! Its target is the pilot!"
The deputy survived the robbery, and after a moment of shock, he began to curse: "Advisor, lower your head!"
I immediately stuck to the violently shaking ladder. The bullet almost grazed my scalp as it flew upwards, hitting the mandrill's skin with a clanging sound, splashing a few points of cold light.
I gritted my teeth and climbed up, pulling the mandrill's ankles. I thought to myself, if I let this thing go up, everyone would be trapped here if the helicopter crashed.
As soon as I grasped it in my hand, the strange, frog-like sticky touch almost made me shiver. Then I understood why this thing could use the force of its gravity to jump freely on the stone pillars.
It turned out that the surface of this mandrill was covered with something that looked like scales and membranes, with tiny keratin grooves in the middle, which seemed to fit perfectly in front of the blade of the stone pillar.
Just this moment, I knew something was wrong, and without thinking, I shouted: "Everyone be careful! The stone pillars are their most accustomed activity place!"
Before he could finish his words, screams were heard and several guys who were still climbing fell down. A dozen short figures flashed across the stone pillars, almost as if they were walking on flat ground, and attacked the guys who had difficulty moving.
The one I caught turned around and bit my face.
I couldn't care about either side and could only lean back with difficulty, taking the risk of letting go of my hands. I barely brushed past a fishy and smelly wind and fell to the ground.
At the same time, there was a sudden pain on his face. There was a deep bloody cut. He felt numb and itchy, and half of his face was covered with blood.
The only good thing at this time was that I was caught by my assistant and thrown back onto the ladder within a few seconds of falling. The two of us couldn't stop and kept sliding down the ladder, holding onto it until we fell to the very end of the ladder, with our knuckles and most of our palms worn out.
With a clang, one of the paddles hanging on us fell down without causing any noise.
Before we could recover from the shock, there was a burst of gunfire from above. The dense ricochets and empty shells even hit us, overwhelming both of us and making it impossible for us to raise our heads.
But in the thick smell of gunpowder and the light of fire, the mandrill was still climbing up, and its skin was gradually torn apart by the recoil, but it seemed to have no sense and did not slow down at all.
We were all horrified. We saw the shadow approaching like an evil ghost, and it was about to reach the bottom of the flight cabin. A voice in our ears shouted coldly, "Get out of the way!"
I looked in the direction of the sound almost subconsciously. Sanyi kicked a mandrill that was rushing towards him, used the force to swing the grappling hook, and then let go and jumped towards us.
The helicopter immediately cooperated and fired towards the stone pillar, and the distance between each person and the ladder was quickly shortened.
The mandrills on the stone pillars screamed and gave up their sneak attack on the guys, and all jumped up and pounced into the air.
I pulled the bolt of my gun. This was the only one I had left, and I was running low on bullets. I started firing at the short figures in the air. In my heart, I was screaming, "Don't shake, don't shake, don't shake your hands. If you're not careful, it'll all be over!"
The muscles and bones of those little mandrills were much more fragile. They made squeaking sounds when the bullets exploded. They dodged in pain after being hit, but they quickly overcame their fear and climbed onto the stone pillars again to pounce on San Yi.
As the trigger was pulled, one shadow after another jumped high and passed by Sanyi. My bullets exploded beside him, and some ricochets brushed past his shoulders and ears.
I was sweating all over, and my mouth was so bitter that I almost bit my tongue. There was a gust of wind, and a tall figure leaped towards us.
My deputy and I held our breath, and all four of our hands were stretched out and waved nervously at the same time. I don't know whose hand he grabbed in the chaos to borrow strength, but without any extra words, he chased after him.
At this moment, there was a click from above, and the guy on guard duty shouted hoarsely: "The bullets are all gone!" He retreated to the cabin to reload.
Sanyi had already chased the mandrill to his feet, but my heart sank when I saw him. He only had a paddle on his shoulder and a dagger on his waist. He was just a mortal, and there was no possibility of a comeback. The situation was almost hopeless.
In despair, the mandrills on the stone pillars and on the ground suddenly let out a long wail.
The voice was extremely sad and shrill. For a moment, everyone fell silent. Only the combined voice echoed back and forth in the stone forest.
I seemed to sense something and looked up carefully.
The mandrill that had almost cornered all of us kept stretching its hand upwards, with most of its body already inside the cabin, but it was already motionless.
The hanging ladder was covered in blood, completely soaked from the beatings.
"...It was shot and lost too much blood. It's running out of energy." The deputy said softly, looking up blankly.
With a puff, the mandrill lost its last hold and fell straight down, sliding right past the three of us.
All the mandrills fell silent, one after another, and rushed to the larger dead mandrill and dragged it into the ground.
In just an instant, all the excitement and noise disappeared. After the wailing stopped, the mandrills burrowed into the ground and scattered like birds and beasts, disappearing completely in a flash.
After another long while, the guy on guard duty leaned out most of his body and smiled at us: "It's saved." There were several huge bite wounds on his body, and large pieces of flesh were missing from the long wounds. He swayed for a moment, and then fell inside exhausted.
My eyes suddenly felt sore, and all kinds of complicated and indescribable emotions came over me.
Amid the hum of the paddles, we finally gathered at the top of the stone forest. No one spoke, and a huge feeling of exhaustion engulfed us.
I barely arranged for a few people to keep watch. I could hardly speak and was too lazy to move. My emotions and physical reactions were completely out of sync.
"You all go to sleep, I'll keep watch. They... they really shouldn't come back this time." San Yi was silent for a moment, then whispered, sitting alone at the edge of the stone pillar.
We were all very tired, so we just lay down on the spot without objecting.
Soon, the rest of us fell into a deep sleep. This sleep was so deep that I almost forgot all the possible dangers and my mind was blank.
Faintly, there was only a slight sound, as if Sanyi was still tying the rope around his waist, and no one knew what he was doing.
I vaguely became alert and tried to look at him, but I could hardly open my eyes.
In a trance, Sanyi's face seemed to change, as if some disguise had been removed and he became very familiar.
My brain was not strong enough to think and recognize at that moment. I might have asked something vaguely. He shook his head, walked towards me, and pressed the back of my neck.
In the strange feeling of weightlessness brought by fatigue, I seemed to ask him inexplicably: "Who are you looking for in the valley? Where is the person you promised to bring?" But I heard no answer.
I felt a pain in my neck and fell into a deep sleep.
