Exile and Transition

Exile and Transition

I was covered in the face, and a stream of extremely smelly mucus pressed into my mouth and nose. At the same time, the thing wrapped around me on the outside suddenly retracted. I saw stars in an instant, as if I was hit by a heavy hammer on the chest, and my whole body almost twisted on the ground.

The scene was in chaos in an instant. I was not sure how many ribs I had broken, but I was sure that I was rolled up in the huge pain. The extremely strange and ominous liquid also kept contracting and poured into my trachea and lungs.

At this point, I could no longer hypnotize myself into ignoring this damn thing. My body started coughing violently as a reflex, and my vision turned blue and white before my eyes and I began to feel dazed.

Amid the intense stinging and soreness from lack of oxygen, it seemed as if even the humid fog around me was being squeezed into my throat and pores by the huge force that enveloped me. I screamed, feeling nauseous and wanting to vomit but failing. I suspected that I was going to burst alive and turn into a floating corpse like a bloated water ball.

Damn, what's the point of planning before taking action? This time it's really over. This damn thing is also a craftsman who makes glue molds!

It's hard to describe the regret and unwillingness I felt at that moment. I held the last breath of air in my lungs, my head was buzzing, even my eardrums hurt, and I roared in my heart, what on earth has Nian Huairen become? How can I contact my two brothers? Figure it out quickly!

I was desperately trying to grab the inner pocket of my clothes, and my nails hooked the back cover of the phone. I didn't know which keys I pressed in the dark, but there was no light or sound. It was just like the flashlight that exploded, it was completely useless in the thick fog. I didn't care about that. I gritted my teeth and pushed hard. My brain went completely blank due to severe lack of oxygen.

One second, two seconds, in my empty consciousness, a sharp pain came, the nail that was forced into the phone was probably opened, and two or three pieces were broken at the root. In an instant, it was like tearing open a spirited warm baby, the phone battery hissed twice, and suddenly became hot in the erosion of the thick fog, and the temperature jumped to an abnormally terrifying level.

In another second, white light burst out, and with a bang, the high temperature at close range exploded directly on my face under my deliberate control.

The world was spinning, and I didn't know what had happened to me, whether I was disfigured or not. Anyway, I had no feeling in my palm, and blood was flowing down my forehead and all over my face. I couldn't open my eyes at all. At the same time, the layer on my face was not doing well either. It was the first to block the impact of the high temperature, and it fell off with a snap and fell to the ground, and the parts of my body that were entangled with me also loosened a little.

Without time to think, I immediately endured the pain and took a breath of exhaust gas. I struggled to roll to the outside, and immediately felt a chill on my back, as if that thing was sweeping towards me again.

Damn it, dammit! "Damn it! Do you see where I am now?" I cursed loudly. I don't know how I still had the strength in my body. I actually got up and staggered to run again. I ran faster and faster as if I was having a last breath of life. My lungs were sour and foamy. I couldn't help but spit out two mouthfuls of blood while running. The blood was smelly and I thought my internal organs were about to break.

The white light from the cell phone was still burning stubbornly, and in my peripheral vision, I could see the thing chasing me relentlessly from behind, and then an increasingly large and deformed shadow flashed by.

Faintly I could see that the very long thing seemed to have cracked into several long and narrow gaps and was spitting out pieces of human faces the size of fists, like fish scales. Some looked vicious or grinning, their eyebrows, eyes, mouths and noses were all very blurry, but they all looked a bit between me and Sanyi.

I couldn't see more details through the fog and the blood on my face, but I became even more frightened. I yelled and took two quicker steps. I had never walked so fast in my life.

While running wildly, he shouted again: "Did you see it? Make a sound!"

This time, I didn't hit the street lamp. Instead, a furry black shadow seemed to be thrown out from the fog by someone. It fell heavily into my arms, causing me to stagger and almost fall to the ground.

Looking down, it was the fat little cat Dongzai. It seemed that even though they were "separated by the Yin and Yang", the ultimate killer move of setting off fireworks to announce the time was still effective.

I laughed and immediately kissed it fiercely. I could hear Dongzai complaining and grumbling in a very aggrieved manner.

There was no need for any more nonsense at this point. I released the cat, and Dongzai jumped to my feet tacitly and began to lead the way, occasionally turning his head and barking into the thick fog beside me.

I understood that the little fat cat was acting as a transit station for me, indicating that my two brothers were there. My eyes were almost filled with tears and I followed Dongzai's instructions and ran for my life in the thick fog.

This time I ran without thinking. I didn't even look at what was around me or think about where I was in front or behind. It was like I was holding on to a tow rope firmly in the thick fog.

My trusty friend would occasionally nudge me in the ankle to correct me, signaling that I was off track, and would run busily around my legs. I don’t know if this is similar to herding sheep, but miraculously, we never tripped over each other once.

After running for an unknown amount of time, Dongzai could no longer hear any other sounds around him. He stopped, squatted on the spot, and called out, announcing a pause in the herding.

I immediately fell to the ground, spread my limbs and started gasping for breath in a completely untidy manner.

People say that one is sweating profusely. It is not an exaggeration to use this to describe me. When I touched the back of my clothes, they were soaked.

I even suspected that the thing was replenishing my water in disguise, otherwise why haven't I gone into shock and collapsed. Thinking about it, I felt a little nauseous, and my lungs were blocked. I couldn't help but lie on the ground and cough for a long time, choking out streams of spicy and sour black water, and I couldn't see what was in it.

This time I almost vomited all the bile. I don't know how ugly my face looks now, but I guess it's not much different from a dead person. Especially since my face is numb from the pain and I have almost no feeling.

I was feeling dizzy, and Dongzai nudged me with his head and meowed in concern.

I laughed and thanked the little fat cat first, then went over to ask it: "Hey, baby, where is your cheap uncle now? Do you have any other instructions?"

Dongzai was stunned for a moment, and after a while, he looked at me blankly.

I was also a little stunned, looking at it, what does it mean, where are my two masters who can fight but always fail? Did they disappear somewhere to cover our retreat when we ran away?

This is a bit tricky.

I still believe in Zhang Tianyi and Sanyi's efficiency. If they were not tied up with more important things, they would not have left me to the little fat cat to take care of. Therefore, it can be said that the current situation is very likely that they think it is the safest for me after trying.

...I did this blast to locate the target, originally just to save myself, and to point out a gathering point for the two invisible brothers. Could it be that I accidentally made the situation more complicated?

I immediately had a bad feeling and began to suspect that Zhang Tianyi and Sanyi had deliberately destroyed the street lights in order to temporarily prevent me from having any lighting.

This thought came so suddenly that I didn't know what I had sensed subconsciously for a moment, but the premonition was actually intensifying, making me more and more uneasy.

If you think about it carefully, what exactly is the trick behind the unreasonable deformed state of that thing and Nian Huairen’s so-called “immortality”?

Move the mouse...Move the mouse's mask...stick it on the official...

I muttered to myself, and recalled the incomplete human face on that thing I had just glanced at. How should I put it? It actually has a lot of similarities with the long grasshopper people derived from the Mouse Palace.

If we take the example of the group of insect eggs that have melted into one, it can be barely justified to say that they are "immortal".

After all, for those grasshoppers, the splitting or shedding of organs is just a part of the individual being separated from the group, and they are still connected in essence. Therefore, the destruction and separation of flesh and blood does not mean death.

And the subsequent reunion and gathering really looks like the automatic healing of the body, which to ordinary people feels like coming back to life from the dead.

Thinking from this perspective, the current strange fog, the abnormally low temperature around, and the ghost thing with a long shadow really seem to have been moved out of the mouse's hole. According to our experience, to prevent the birth of projection, the first thing is to extinguish the light, so the action of breaking the street lamp is understandable.

Hiss, it seems that everything is right now? Is it that simple?

But the problem is that these are all things that Zhang Tianyi and Sanyi have known for a long time, and there is no need for me to check and fill in the gaps. Even the Zhang family has accumulated corresponding countermeasures and experience after finishing the Nianjia Town, and they should not let this place continue to develop into a den of evil.

Moreover, there are no volcanoes, no snow, not so many voluntary human sacrifices, no banyan trees to balance the situation, and no rat palaces to provide the source of power for pollution and distortion.

How could Nian Huairen, alone, cause such a big fuss?

After all, he is a mortal, a failed marginal person who was suspected to have been exiled from the Nian family early on. Judging from the current results, he has not succeeded in making the bronze mask for the Nian family's sacrifices.

To put it more harshly, judging from the size and amount of flesh, there is no way that Nian Huairen can grow to the size of that ghost thing just now, right?

Strangely, the whole mystery seems to be missing in this small unknown piece of the puzzle.

What Zhang Tianyi, Sanyi and I are looking for is probably the answer to this question. As long as we can figure it out, everything will be solved, and I can get rid of this overly passive "invisibility".

It’s not advisable to stay in the fog for too long. I patted my head, stopped thinking about it, bent down and carefully picked up Dongzai.

"Meow?" The little fat cat was confused and flicked me with its tail.

I thought about it carefully, "That thing should still be busy with the two brothers, so the old nest should be relatively empty." So now seems to be a good opportunity to enter Nian Huairen's old house and find out what's going on.

Besides, to be honest, seeing is believing. So far, I have not witnessed the so-called "resurrection from the dead", and I still have great distrust of it.

A more specific idea is that I remember in the nightmare, Sanyi seemed to have killed Nian Huairen once and then threw Nian Huairen's body into the bedroom closet.

There might be some traces left there.

And I still don’t understand one thing:

My mother Zhang Can witnessed and dealt with the body in the snakeskin bag alone. In Sanyi's memory, her reaction was a little too silent and unusual. It was not something she would do.

There must have been some more important mystery and secret in the snakeskin bag at that time.

The one who was buried and kept coming back to life was probably not Nian Huairen. At least... not just Nian Huairen.
