Infinite loop
At this point, there seemed to be no suspense about what choice the young Sanyi would make.
Nian Huairen was obviously contemptuous of the seven-year-old child who was shaking in his hands. He casually picked up Sanyi and walked into the house, while his other hand habitually picked up the empty wine bottle on the ground.
The glass bottle was originally filled with wine, but not all of it was for drinking. When Nian Huairen thought Sanyi had made a mistake, he would use a wet towel and unfinished wine to inflict a suffocation torture called "Jianguan" on Sanyi in history. The details are too cruel, so I won't go into details.
In fact, Nian Huairen had many inexplicable training methods and punishments for Sanyi, which were harsh and neurotic, and seemed to be intended to turn Sanyi into some kind of artificially deformed monster. Unfortunately, no matter how much he was tortured, Sanyi was still a mortal body, and was still a human child growing year by year.
Nian Huairen's unreasonable hysteria might be a kind of arrogance and fanaticism as he calls himself "the last member of the Nian family", but to Sanyi, it is just a mental illness.
(Later, when Sanyi saw the fake people in the Hidden Man, saw Nian Ziqing, and once again heard the crazy slogan of "the last Nian family member", he felt extremely mocking and miserable. This absurd irony reached its peak after he learned about the existence of the broker and the Zhang family.)
In the past, Sanyi only had his father with whom he could endure, otherwise he could not survive. In front of Nian Huairen, he had only the fear and obedience that he had cultivated over a long period of time.
But late at night, this well-trained young machine suddenly realized that he had to go home immediately. The strong and simple command quickly replaced the fear of Nian Huairen and directly bypassed the brain's thinking.
Before Sanyi could react, a piece of beer bottle shard that had been rubbed smooth countless times had slipped out of his sleeve and was held tightly by him, with the tip of the shard piercing the aorta in Nian Huairen's neck.
After a strange silence, Nian Huairen, who was still bending over to pick up the empty wine bottle, looked at him blankly, and the color on his face immediately faded.
Three minutes later, Sanyi regained consciousness and found that he was still in that stiff posture, with all the weight of his body pressed on the arm that had stabbed out. His instinct suppressed Nian Huairen's immediate self-rescue action.
Afterwards, he slowly wiped off the blood that splattered on his face. Sanyi finally felt the reality. He pushed Nian Huairen away, staggered back to the door, and then found that he had been crying loudly.
He was covered in blood. He opened the door and started walking out quickly, thinking to himself, let's go, go home now, right now.
After he went out, perhaps because there was still blood on his eyelids, or perhaps because he was still crying, the street lights in his field of vision completely turned into irregular blocks of light, and the dim light around him completely melted into one. Going further outside, the darkness became deeper and more empty.
Sanyi walked in a daze and found that he didn't know where he was and couldn't tell the direction.
After a while, when he heard two anxious footsteps in the distance, Sanyi finally came back to reality and looked at his hands and body in confusion.
The bloodstained clothes have not been dealt with yet, and so is Nian Huairen's body.
Sanyi was surprised at his own coldness and clarity at the moment. He looked deeply at the busy and calling figures of his parents through the night fog and decided to go back.
Nian Huairen was already dead. No matter how he came back from the mud before, as long as he handled it carefully and thoroughly this time and didn't let his family find out, the whole thing would just remain at the stage of a child running away from home, and there would be no more waves.
"But I was wrong."
Sanyi sighed, "Since the dead can come back once, they can haunt us again and again."
When Sanyi turned the brass door handle again, Nian Huairen's body, which had been drained of blood, was wandering under the light.
It was very strange, and Sanyi couldn't describe his mood and situation at the time, but Nian Huairen was indeed wandering around the room ignorantly. His limbs were not completely stiff, but his whole posture was distorted.
Sanyi stood there for a while, and for the first time, he looked into the eyes of his biological father calmly and peacefully, without any insults, reprimands, or harm in between.
He lowered his head and wiped his tears again, went to the kitchen to find a thick-backed machete for chopping bones, and turned on the faucet to rinse off the blood stains on his arms and face.
At this time, Nian Huairen's voice asked impatiently from behind:
"What are you doing in the kitchen so late at night?"
Sanyi froze.
The living Nian Huairen walked in, glanced at the bone-chopping knife that Sanyi had pulled out, and without thinking too much, he said with a bit of annoyance: "Making midnight snack? I told you I'm too lazy to eat these two days. Do you have no brains forever?"
This was too ridiculous. Sanyi suddenly felt like laughing. He was shivering with cold all over. He raised his eyes and looked carefully at his biological father in front of him, hoping to find some deformed and hideous signs on him.
But no, there wasn’t.
If this was a monster, Sanyi could accept it. In the alternative education he had been indoctrinated with since childhood, he already had this part of knowledge and insights.
But the person in front of him was undoubtedly just an ordinary, mediocre, sarcastic, and often alcoholic psychopath.
This blood relative was polite and considerate only in front of outsiders. When he got home and closed the door, he looked completely rotten. He only complained and had unrealistic fantasies every day. Although he was alive, he seemed no different from a corpse.
When my mother was determined to leave this mess, I was supposed to go with her, and I had already packed my things. It was a hot day, and my mother even went to a nearby supermarket to buy a small towel to wipe sweat, and tied it carefully around Sanyi's wrist with a bright smile on her face.
But Nian Huairen changed his mind at the last minute, apparently just to tease and torture Zhang Can and make him admit his mistake.
He smiled and asked, "Do you think that the children of the Nian family, who have been secretly exposed to something, can still survive out there?"
"If you take him away, he won't survive tomorrow, okay?"
"Why do you, an ignorant ordinary person like you, keep making wrong choices?"
Nian Huairen was not joking, he was serious. It was not a threat, but an objective statement that ordinary people could not understand.
Sanyi touched the small towel on his wrist, pondered for a moment, and coldly let go of his mother's hand.
"Go away, I like daddy and I don't want you anymore." Sanyi said, without looking at Zhang Can's expression. He lowered his head and thought vaguely, it's strange, why doesn't dad die?
But Zhang Can just hugged him and said firmly: "Wait for me, I will find a way to bring you home safely. Don't forget your mother."
The moment Zhang Can resolutely left, Sanyi would never forget Nian Huairen's funny expression of shock and disbelief. He couldn't help but laugh silently and began to look forward to reuniting with his mother.
...Yeah, why can’t such a rotten thing die?
Looking at Nian Huairen who looked impatient, even after several years, Sanyi still could not understand this matter or the scene in front of him. He could only pick up the bone-cutting knife and chop it hard with an expressionless face.
"Dad, would you please die? I really want to go home. Mom is looking for me outside. She is waiting for me. She has been waiting for me for too long."
Sanyi said coldly, "Just die, please."
What happened next could almost be described as comical.
Given Sanyi's age at the time, he did not have the strength to dismember Nian Huairen, so he could only wrap Nian Huairen's body as tightly as possible with ropes and sheets, force it into the cabinet, and block the outside with heavy objects.
A somewhat ridiculous idea is that even if he comes back from the dead, Nian Huairen must first have the ability to act independently before he can appear in front of him again. Then, all he needs to do is control himself and not meet him.
But when Sanyi was exhausted and couldn't help falling asleep on the blood-soaked floor, there was a slow, rustling movement in the cabinet.
Half an hour later, Sanyi opened his eyes. Nian Huairen lowered his head and looked at him straight. The two faces were very close.
Nian Huairen is alive again. He is not a monster. His mortal body can be killed, but he will still look the same as before.
Unprecedented fatigue and fear made the seven-year-old Sanyi suddenly realize that he might have fallen into an endless vicious circle. He could no longer walk out of this ordinary old house and could never get rid of this ordinary and disgusting rotten man.
Outside the door, someone knocked hurriedly in the midst of Sanyi's uncontrollable intense fear.
It was the voice of mother Zhang Can:
"Xiao Yi! Xiao Yi, are you in there?"
Yes, mom.
Sanyi said this in his heart, but he didn't make any sound. Instead, he reached out and grabbed Nian Huairen's sleeve tightly. Then, in front of Nian Huairen's unguarded eyes, he turned over and stepped onto the sink, pressed Nian Huairen's throat tightly, and raised the knife again.
"Xiao Yi?" Zhang Can said softly outside the door, his voice already hoarse from the constant shouting and searching, "Are you there? Are you feeling wronged at home? Tell mom, and mom will apologize to you, okay?"
Uncle Xu, no, Dad Xu Feng was also outside, and he said gently and awkwardly, "Xiao Yi, if you were here, Dad would apologize to you too, okay? Is Dad partial to Ran Ran and Ping Ping?"
The young Sanyi wiped away the tears that could not be wiped away, and smiled with gritted teeth at Nian Huairen's already purple face.
"Dad, let's just stay here, just the two of us. Stay here quietly, hide, and never go out to disturb Mom."
…
"——After that, probably after a few hours, my parents finally gave up and left, thinking that I should not be in Nian Huairen's old house."
"I don't know how long they searched for me elsewhere, but I stayed with Nian Huairen that night, watching him come back to life over and over again."
"I thought about it for a long time. I kept wondering why he was able to come back to life, what he was going to do, why he came to my mother and Uncle Xu again, whether he could be controlled, and whether there was any way to kill him completely."
"After a while, I thought again, why are you already five years old? Why did mom have a new life so soon? Did she almost forget about me? Why am I here, turning into a monster, doing such embarrassing and ridiculous things? Should I believe her, love her, or resent her?"
"——What do you think? Xu Ranxing?"
"We're here." Outside the dream, I vaguely heard someone sighing because of a headache, interrupting Sanyi's words and my nightmare, waking me up from the darkness.
"Nian Huairen's house is just in front. No matter what it is, let Ranzi go and see for himself and give you an answer. You know very well that Xu Ranxing will not lie."
I recognized the voice as Zhang Tianyi's. He patted my forehead, which was slightly feverish and sweaty, and said with a smile, "Come on, let's stop dreaming here."
