Run for Your Life

Run for Your Life

The inside of the wall is a bit empty.

I know this is a strange description. But as I slammed into it, there was no pain like hitting my head on a hard object.

The walls opened and closed again, and I stumbled forward with one foot deep and one foot shallow, standing unsteadily. My first reaction was that even though it was filled with those sticky blue blood clots, it was empty inside.

It was as if this thing would really turn into a shawl and flutter in the wind at any time.

Behind that non-existent door, except for the part that was not completely solidified and drenched me in blood, there seemed to be pavilions and towers. The crackling sound of raindrops hitting the lake surface echoed in my ears again, but the rain was countless times smaller, and it was the kind of lazy and comfortable "rain hitting banana leaves".

My steps became slower and slower unconsciously, and the panic in my heart disappeared. The joy and leisure of visiting the garden in spring filled my heart. I felt the corners of my mouth slowly rising up to smile out of control, and the rise became larger and larger.

At this moment, there was another gentle breath in my ear, and an extremely old voice giggled like a young girl. A pair of pale hands rested on my shoulders and slowly dropped down.

Before I even opened my eyes and looked back, I could already sense how sinister and malicious the face behind me was.

Also, compared to before, this female corpse seemed to be heavier, and there were some overlapping things on her body, which seemed to be clothes.

I closed my eyes tightly, but my senses became unusually sharp at an inappropriate time. Many details and various horrific associations made my breathing rapid and my vision went black.

The sleeves of the fairy concubine were very wide, sticky, cold, and thin, and they hung down along with her arms.

Only here does imagination transcend infinity and become increasingly clear, bringing me unbearable horror.

I heard myself saying in my mind, "Don't think about it, don't think about it." But the image still emerged in my mind, a kind of gelatinous substance wrapped around the arms and back of the old female corpse, extending outwards, as if a layer of cicada shell was being shed from her body.

The bloody shell was crawling out alone, and it gradually hardened, stretched, and spun in the air, turning from transparent to blue. It was too long and dragged on the ground, becoming her wide sleeves, hem, and fairy-like brocade fur cape.

She put the entire shawl on her body, wrapped her arms around me lovingly, and waved her arms gently again, calling me.

No, not imaginary.

The severe pain in my eye sockets slowed down by who knows how many beats in fear. Only then did I realize that I was just like when I was on the lake. I had my eyes open but my vision was blocked by something and I didn't notice it. Instead, I deceived myself and thought that I still closed my eyes and didn't see anything.

The old female corpse's hanging hands were bent back in an unimaginable state, covering me and forcibly pushing open my eyelids.

Her head and a very long neck also wrapped around her like a shawl, reaching my front. Her eyes, which were completely black without any white, were firmly fixed in my field of vision.

She giggled again, and it was an extremely ethereal and clear sound.

I couldn't move, feeling desperate, and the white hairs on my back started to burst out in layers.

At this critical moment, "Bang." a sound came from the earphones.

The female corpse suddenly trembled, raised her long neck, and stared straight at my bone conduction headphones.

I was stunned for a moment, then immediately came to my senses. I slowly moved my hand to my ear and, under the sinister gaze of the female corpse, pinched the earphone.

"clang!"

This time the sound came from under my feet.

Three seconds later, right below me, there was a sharp noise like nails scratching glass. Then there was a clang, like a copper basin hitting the ground. A gap suddenly appeared, and suddenly a hand pulled me down.

The miner's lamp almost slipped out of my hand unexpectedly and was accidentally turned off. I fell almost to death in the dark and felt a chill on my back. The female corpse pounced down and stuck to my back again.

"--run!"

Someone shouted in the darkness, and before I could react, the shouting sounded an echo that spread everywhere, and the female corpse suddenly laughed shrilly.

Damn, this person is not Zhang Tianyi, and not even Gao Liu! I screamed in shock in my heart, and was dragged and ran for my life. There were actually several footsteps that sounded at the same time, and they were very fragmented and difficult to distinguish.

I was so scared that the man yelled "Run, run, run" and almost tripped me. Someone screamed in the darkness, "My slippers fell off!" Then there was a lot of clanging sounds, and someone else shouted that someone touched his butt.

In an instant, all the fear turned into stupor. I almost fell to the ground, and someone pulled me back. Then we continued to run together, and fell together again. I rolled on the ground like a gourd and was stepped on several times by someone.

If someone reached out to pull me up again, I couldn't tell whether it was a man or a woman, old or young. My head was buzzing, and there was only the sound of chaotic footsteps and the occasional exclamations of "WTF" by different people.

What the hell is going on! I ran and turned on the mining lamp. The light suddenly came on and I was dumbfounded.

I saw a huge pale face rushing towards me from behind, dragging countless black tree roots. The green blood clots in the wall fell down and hung behind the head, dragging out a long layer of membrane-like thing.

The most puzzling thing was a group of guys wearing tourist sleeves and carrying large and small bags. They looked like they were out for a spring outing to the market. Four out of five were wearing hotel cotton slippers and running like mad dogs, panting heavily.

I was forced to run forward by them, and I couldn't stop even if I wanted to. The person in front of me, who looked like a tour guide, pulled me firmly and yelled at me, angrily asking me: "Which group are you from?"

What the hell is this tour group! A one-day tour to the underworld?

The tour guide was really as fast as a rabbit. She bent down suddenly and I realized that she had almost let go of her hand. It turned out that her other hand was holding a little girl of about five or six years old. She quickly grabbed the little girl back and held her under her armpit. The whole noisy team was out of breath.

What was even more outrageous was that there were actually several skinned humanoids running behind us. They looked very miserable, and I didn't know how they fell in together. They were lying on all fours, much faster than us, and they caught up with us and passed me.

The little girl cried out, and a skinner who had just jumped past her suddenly turned around, opened his jaw, spun like a carnivorous plant, and bit her.

"Bang!" In a panic, the tour guide ripped off his cotton slipper and smashed it over the skinned figure, actually beating it to a pulp.

"quick!"

I don't know where I got the strength from. My brain was still stunned by this ridiculous scene, but my body had already rushed out and tripped hard.

This skinned man was really in a desperate situation. I don't know how he was beaten by that huge human face. He was tripped by me. Before I could react, I felt a chill on my back. The human figure suddenly opened its mouth and bit my calf.

Damn, my scalp exploded, and the second cotton mop came like a drop from the sky. A hand stretched out towards me in an instant, dragging me and running wildly again.

Then several people behind rushed forward, and they didn't know how many stinky feet they accidentally attacked the humanoid with while trampling on it.

Now there was no more obstacles, and the speed was like lightning. I don't know if these people had practiced this in their previous lives, but we accelerated and accelerated again, and we ran until we almost vomited our lungs, and left that damn thing far behind.

But we didn't dare to stop, we just kept running with our eyes closed. I don't know how long it took, my legs felt like lead and I had no feeling at all, but suddenly my eyes lit up and my vision became wider. I don't know who fell to the ground and lay there and refused to move, and then one after another, everyone stopped and collapsed.

There were a bunch of people lying in a mess. I was still in shock when the strong female tour guide gritted her teeth, turned over and sat up, took a deep breath, and asked all of us to count.

The little girl was the first, followed by three young people in pajamas, a young couple, a young man with squinting eyes who seemed to be severely myopic, and finally the female tour guide.

After everyone finished counting, the female tour guide looked at me and said angrily, "What's wrong with you? Which group are you from? Are you here to take advantage of the group's self-driving tour?"

I was so confused that I had no time to talk to her. I just took the lantern and looked around, and found that we seemed to be in a very ordinary cave. There was even a perfectly normal stream nearby.

The area under our feet is not huge, but it is enough for us to line up and roll around like lazy donkeys.

Seeing me looking around, the female tour guide didn't get angry. Instead, she calmed down and frowned, saying, "Forget it. This is not something you can control. Let's take a break and discuss what happened and how to ask for help."

As she spoke, she started to get busy, asking everyone one by one whether they had water and food with them, whether they had any means of communication, whether they were injured, and checking everyone for bruises and scratches.

I looked again and found that the three young men in pajamas were trembling with fear. They even put pots and basins they got from somewhere on their heads as helmets. Their faces were paler than paper, and they looked "palm-faced".

In stark contrast, the female tour guide had recovered and had already waded to the edge of the stream to try to find fish. She turned around and asked me if I could lend her some light.

I now had a million questions and was a little confused. I held the light for her and kept looking at the squinting young man.

The man was frightened by my stare, and he shrank back, asking me in a low voice what I was doing.

I looked at him deeply and couldn't help but sigh, with mixed emotions.

"Are you nearsighted?"

"Ah? Ah, yes, yes, yes."

I took the glasses out of my pocket and handed them to him. "Try it on."

The young man was delighted, rubbed his hands a little embarrassedly, took it and put it on his nose, while mumbling to me:

"The prescription is probably wrong. I'll take off the lenses and pack them up and return them to you later. Hey, it's much more comfortable to put this thing on your nose. Otherwise, I always feel like I'm not only deaf, but also blind. What do you think of this...eh?"

He was stunned.

Just the right amount, right?

He suddenly looked up at me, began to sweat immediately, and couldn't help but avoid my gaze, wanting to retreat towards the female tour guide.

I sighed again and patted his shoulder. "Yan Jing'er, please help me get the miner's lamp. I'll go check on the kid and ask everyone what's going on."

He was startled when I slapped him, and his whole body stiffened. But I had already withdrawn my hand, and didn't do anything to him, and my expression was very calm.

At this moment, he probably has more questions than I do.

“That…that…”

The young man Zhou Tingmao scratched his head hesitantly and asked cautiously, "I see you have the same headphones as me. Do you, do you know me?"

I didn't say anything, but under the light, this group of tourists who seemed to have been accidentally involved seemed to be unaware of one thing.

Except for the little girl, there were thin tree roots creeping out from their ankles and going straight into the ground.

Zhou Tingmao was still looking at me in fear. While he was talking, the skin under his bulging chest was stretched to be transparent, and something like insect eggs was surging like foam. Most of his body was also a dark green color.
