After shutting down his soul world, Todd collapsed onto the bed in the cabin, letting out a exhausted roar.
Rachel, who was in charge of the security work, flipped through the book in her hand and casually asked, "This meeting seems to have taken longer than the previous ones."
“Those guys are staying in there and won’t leave…” Todd used his elbow for support, rolled over, and looked up at the ceiling. “The longer you stay in another world, the greater the burden on your body.”
"How about changing the daily meetings to once every three days?"
Rolling up his sleeve and looking at his forearm, which was completely eroded by the mutation, Todd shook his head and rejected the proposal: "I don't have much time left, you know that..."
Rachel lowered her head again, her face pale, and said nothing more.
The cries and pleas for mercy that came from the side caught Todd's attention. He got up, looked towards the deck outside the door, and asked Rachel, "What's going on?"
"Our captain is disciplining his men in a pirate manner."
Shaking his dizzy head, Todd climbed the steps to the deck and saw all the crew members gathered around the ship's side, their expressions awe.
Aisha sat on a worn-out wooden chair, one foot on the helm, calmly looking at her subordinates.
"Next!" With her usual wild, beastly gaze, she pointed her musket at the sea beside her: "Hurry up!"
A sailor involved in the betrayal was brought up from his cell below deck.
"Captain, your heart is as vast as the sea! Be merciful, show some mercy! Please forgive my sins!" As if knowing the terrible fate that awaited him, the sinner collapsed to the ground, with traces of incontinence between his legs.
The executioner, dagger in hand, looked up at the captain high above him, awaiting instructions.
Aisha swept her right thumb across her throat and gave everyone a cruel smile.
"No! Please!"
Amid screams and wails, the executioner slashed dozens of wounds of varying sizes into the traitor's body, then severed his tendons in his hands and feet.
Next, the pirates bound the blood-covered victims with ropes and threw them into the sea below the ship's side.
The executioners grabbed one end of the rope, pulled the prisoner, and ensured that half of the prisoner's body was underwater and the other half was above the water.
The armed sailboat continued its voyage, and sharks, attracted by the smell of blood, slowly approached the ship.
The sounds of gnawing, breaking bones, splashing water, and screams blended together to create a death symphony unique to the pirate world.
Five minutes later, Todd frowned as he watched the pirates clumsily pull the body up.
The victim, whose body was bitten by a shark, was reduced to only half its original size, like a tattered rag adrift at sea, thrown onto the deck—a gruesome sight.
“This punishment is called ‘floating flesh,’ a method pirates often used to execute their own members,” Rachel said in a low voice as she walked up to Todd.
Watching Aisha toss over a dozen silver moons to her confidants in the crowd, loudly praising their loyalty, Todd nodded and said, "Rewards and punishments go hand in hand. Perhaps this female pirate is more intelligent than we imagined."
Rachel looked at the bustling pirates and said, "It won't be long before a new 'first mate' steps forward to covet her position."
Todd was taken aback and asked curiously, "Having witnessed such torture firsthand, would anyone still want to betray you?"
Smiling, Rachel turned and went back to her cabin, leaving behind these words: "Either be king or servant. In the pirate's dictionary, there is no such word as 'second'."
————————————————
The Black Pearl had been sailing on the sea for nineteen days. Apart from encountering the Northern Island pirates a few times at the beginning, and Todd showing the Muxi Kingdom's warrant to pass through smoothly, the rest of the time was more like a peaceful and tranquil vacation.
Day 20 of the voyage.
At 7:30 a.m., Todd got up in the bumpy cabin, washed up and had breakfast. After resting for a while, he opened his soul space and invited the officials of the Twilight Kingdom to a meeting.
The daily meetings, which used to end within two hours, have become a bit strange ever since Cumberland found the TV series folder.
After the daily discussions concluded, no one wanted to leave the Soul Space early; everyone searched for things of interest on their respective computers.
The old knight Cumberland's favorite genre was historical drama, such as "Vikings," "King Arthur," "Rome," and "Spartacus," but after watching them, he always found a huge difference between the history of the other world and the plot of the videos. Faced with the old man's question, Todd could only vaguely explain it with "Kingdom Dream."
Mary's favorite things are painting, sculpture, and architecture. Renaissance, Gothic culture, and new religious speculation... By borrowing and comparing different styles, she incorporates these differences into her clothing store, which has already set off a wave of artistic progress in Twilight City.
But Todd gradually realized that things were going off track. He had to put his memories under "retrieval control," sealing away a large amount of knowledge that was too advanced or taboo to prevent unnecessary trouble.
After the daily meeting, Todd took a short nap. When he woke up, he climbed onto the deck and happened to see Captain Aisha examining the compass.
How much longer until we arrive?
Hearing Todd's question, Aisha looked up and glanced at him: "At this rate, it will arrive in five more days."
Todd nodded, looking at the distant mountains, which were covered in snow; the air he exhaled already showed signs of mist; and the ice floes floating on the sea in the distance gave the illusion of floating icebergs.
