Boyle glanced at the setting sun, took out a hare and a sleeping bag from his pack, and said while tidying up the cave, "Get a good rest tonight, and we'll set off for the Shadow Kingdom first thing tomorrow morning."
The next morning, the small boat hoisted its sails, Boyle took the helm, and the three of them sailed toward the legendary land.
The sailboat first traveled nine kilometers north, then five kilometers east. The fog on the sea grew thicker and the visibility gradually decreased.
Boyle stretched out his hand, feeling the humidity in the air, and said to Todd and Rachel, "The road signs to the Land of Shadows are a bit special. You have to follow the fog. The thicker the fog and the greater the humidity, the closer you are to your destination."
After driving for about twenty more minutes, the fog had become so thick that even a companion a meter in front of them could not be seen clearly.
Boyle lowered the sails, took a fishing net with branches tied to it from the cabin, and hung it on the side of the boat as a cushion. He then gestured for the two men accompanying him to pick up their oars: "From now on, I will reduce the speed to the slowest possible. Row gently, and if you encounter any collisions, don't panic, just stop rowing."
And so, like a fish, the sailboat navigated through the reefs and shoals, sailing further and further into the depths of the mist.
After another half hour of slow sailing, accompanied by the sound of sand scraping against sand, the sailboat suddenly came to a stop.
Boyle looked at the mist in the distance, which should have been white but had turned gray and lifeless, his body trembled slightly, and he said softly, "We've arrived."
Todd and Rachel grabbed their bags, jumped off the ship, and officially set foot on the land of the "Land of Shadows".
Boyle gripped the helm of the sailboat, watching the two figures disappear into the mist, and suddenly called out, "Ratchet!"
The woman turned around, her face obscured by the mist, making it difficult to see clearly.
Boyle mustered his courage and said loudly, "Having been brought here, do you still intend to go on? You can turn back and continue on your path of destiny, instead of disappearing into this forgotten land!"
The two people in the mist seemed to have been arguing for a while.
Finally, the woman's resolute voice pierced through the mist, echoing in the deathly silence: "I will decide my own destiny! Rather than be a reflection in a puddle, let me be burned to ashes by the sun!"
