Chapter 269 The Right to Survive

The arena manager looked at the two people in the arena, his face ashen, because he could no longer understand what was happening before him.

In the vast space, only two people knew what had happened.

One of them is Todd, of course.

The other one was Rachel, who knew Todd's strength well. However, she sat in the stands looking like she had no will to live, her eyes almost rolling to the sky!

This epic duel, which was described as "shocking and unparalleled," lasted for more than half an hour.

The two fought back and forth, their battle so intense that they were "unable to distinguish one another, their fates hanging in the balance."

By the end, both Todd and the Skinner were completely exhausted. They dropped their weapons and fought with nothing but sheer grit, exchanging blows until their lives were over. (At least, that's how it seemed to the audience.)

Finally, the skinner, whose internal injuries were severe, could not hold on any longer and collapsed straight into the mud, never to rise again.

Exhausted, Todd knelt on the ground and shakily raised his hands to proclaim his victory to everyone.

The entire arena erupted in cheers as people threw flowers and coins into the arena, loudly praising Boyle's fearless and courageous fighting spirit against a powerful enemy.

King Concherber of Ulster sat back down in his chair in the stands, downed his glass of wine in one gulp, and exclaimed with great excitement, "Fantastic! Absolutely fantastic!"

Vorgal nudged the king with his elbow, gesturing for him to look toward the assembly hall.

Concherber stood up and saw all the audience members raising their thumbs in his direction, chanting the same words: "Let him live! Let him live!"

Conchierber's face darkened, following a tradition inherited from the ancient Tyro era of the Northern Continent. After a gladiator's fight, if the audience was satisfied with his performance, he would give a thumbs-up and verbally plead with the king for his right to live.

In the past, Conchierber might have agreed with the audience without hesitation, but today's gladiators are a bit different.

A traitor, a thorn in someone's side who should have been executed.

Fugal walked to the king's side and whispered, "Your Majesty, if you forcibly kill him today, it will cause dissatisfaction among everyone. It would be better to follow the will of the people... There will be many more opportunities in the future."

After thinking it over carefully, Concherber walked to the edge of the stands and, in front of all the spectators, smiled and raised his thumb, indicating that Boyle could live today.

Hearing the deafening cheers around him, Todd smiled slightly, closed his eyes, and pretended to be exhausted as he lay down on the ground.

Conchierber stepped down from the stands, giving the gladiator a vicious look before leaving. The gladiator was so frightened by the menacing gaze that he collapsed to the ground.

As the King of Ulster walked, he sighed to Vorgal beside him, "Today's battle was truly spectacular. If there's any flaw, it's that opening kick—it was so obviously fake..."
