Watching the candles in the palace go out, Todd waited for a full hour below the castle. Only when he estimated that Conchierber was fast asleep did he transform back into his monster form, using the edges of the city wall to leap and nimbly scale the palace balcony.
As soon as Todd entered the outer room of the palace, he used his supernatural abilities to see many interesting things.
Flip-top traps, alarm bells, tripwires, crossbow traps...
The enormous royal palace contained no fewer than fifteen traps and mechanisms of varying sizes. This made Todd realize just how many enemies Conchierber had, and how terrified he was of assassins.
Using his nimble movements in his monster form, Todd dodged all the traps and finally reached the king's bedside, where he saw King Ulster sleeping like a log.
Slowly piercing the tip of the iron claw into Conchierber's temple, Todd began searching his mind for the information he wanted.
Stripped of the nauseating, unbearable scenes of mass killings, torture, rape, and torment, Todd finally found the memory he sought deep within the other person's past.
In the prison beneath the palace's secret passages, Conchubert was loudly berating a woman Todd recognized—Aisha: "You despicable thief! Where have you put the treasures you stole from me?!"
The ear-piercing sound of whipping, the splattering of blood, and the angry roars.
Aisha was bound to a wooden frame like a corpse, her body covered in wounds.
She slightly raised her head and spat a mouthful of bloody saliva onto the king's chest.
In the last memory, a huge fist slammed into Aisha's cheek.
Pulled from his memories, Todd was consumed by rage. He raised his iron claws high, about to slash at Conchierber's throat.
The iron claw hovered a few centimeters from the latter's neck, but ultimately did not fall.
If Conchuber dies, the Kingdom of Ulster, which has not appointed a crown prince, will fall into endless war and division, giving the Kingdom of Connaught in the east the best opportunity to rise.
Once Connaught annexes Ulster, the northern barbarians will form a unified empire, and the Mushy Kingdom, which is connected to it by both sea and land, will be the first to face the iron hooves from the north.
Killing one person is easy, but triggering a chain reaction is what we should really be worried about.
An hour later, at a farm on the outskirts of Amma.
A man in black carrying an injured woman knocked on the back door of the country inn. Looking at the elderly peasant woman peeking out, he nodded and said, "Please tell Sister Rachel that I have brought a friend from the sea who urgently needs medical treatment and help!"
