Todd waved his hand to interrupt Huggins: "You should know that's not what I want to hear."
Huggins sighed: "Just last month, a civil war broke out among the North Island people. It started with a dispute between tribes over the distribution of trade profits, but it escalated into a full-scale war for dominance. Hundreds of North Island tribes, including the Claw Tribe and the Black Skull Tribe, participated in the battle. Some members of the North Island Knights deserted and returned to their respective tribes. The Heir Scouts are currently investigating the specific details of the situation, so this matter has not been discussed at the meeting."
Todd frowned and asked, "What opinions are there within the kingdom?"
"The military faction, led by Lord Cumberland, hopes to intervene in this internal strife by force, with the ultimate goal of conquering the North Island tribes and incorporating them into the Kingdom of Muxi; Lord Emerson's Privy Council, on the other hand, hopes to use diplomacy to ease the conflicts between the various tribes of the North Island and to facilitate a compromise and consensus among the various forces. Within the kingdom, the number of supporters for these two approaches is roughly fifty-fifty."
Todd closed his eyes: "Both of these methods have problems with their feasibility... Anything else?"
"Regarding Silver Ring City, we discovered some potentially important things during the cleanup and reconstruction process, which you should check out if you have the chance."
Todd gave a lazy "hmm" and snorted, "I'll go if I have time. Is that all?"
"Just the day before yesterday, Pope Alexander sent an open letter..."
Todd jerked his eyes open, sat up in the water, and looked at Huggins, saying in a deep voice, "What did he say?!"
"The Church claims it will initiate a mediation, ordering the Kingdom of Muxi to cede Silver Ring City and allow it to be incorporated into the territory of Holy Guard City as a reward for the latter's valiant resistance against the northern barbarians."
"A bunch of shameless bastards!"
Huggins shrugged: "The Holy Guard City delegation arrived in Twilight City a week ago."
With a face full of anger, Todd sneered, "So eager to take over the territory?"
A strange expression appeared on Huggins' face, and his words puzzled Todd.
"The delegation from the Holy Guard City has come to you seeking assistance."
