Huggins entered the king's audience chamber and saw Todd sitting at the table with his eyes closed, saying, "Your Majesty, all the people you asked me to notify have arrived."
Todd waved his hand: "Let them in."
Father Moore and Brother George led a group of clergy and monks into the room.
Todd looked at these people and calmly said, "Where are the things I asked you to prepare?"
Father Moore opened the wooden box he carried with him, and with trembling hands took out a book and handed it to the king.
Todd took the book, looked at the large words on the cover—"The Union Version of the Bible"—and sighed softly.
“Your Majesty, this is the first draft. We will continue to revise it afterward.” Brother Joe took out a stack of pages he had just copied from his robes. “Regarding the establishment of a new religious sect, as you instructed, we have established the Evangelical Faction and issued notices to churches in various places about the establishment of the new sect.”
Moore took a deep breath: "Even now, I still can't believe that so many priests and bishops have long been dissatisfied with the Church's actions."
Todd opened the Union Version of the Bible, looked at the Ten Commandments at the beginning, and calmly said, “The best way to shake the church’s believers is to establish a new denomination based on the Bible, and use the influence of the new denomination to completely deny the legitimacy of the Church of God the Father. Only in this way can we minimize the influence of the church and win enough allies for us… You can think about it, from the very beginning of ‘justification by faith’ to the later ‘Critique of the Pope’s Father,’ these were all preparations for the establishment of Protestantism.”
Moore was a little puzzled: "Your Majesty, if a new sect is to be established, why should the Bible be the basis of the religion? To be honest, the scholars and heretics in the city have absolutely no goodwill towards the church and the Bible."
Todd waved his hand and said, "We are fighting under the banner of religious reformation, not overthrowing the relevant beliefs in the Bible. Only by doing so in the name of the Bible can we legitimately attract believers."
Brother Joe said excitedly, "Then, Your Majesty, what are we waiting for?! Let's hold the founding ceremony of the new sect!"
Todd placed the Union Version of the Bible on the table and gently shook his head: "Now is not the time to announce the establishment of the Protestant denomination. We must tell those who are watching that we not only have the will to reform the corrupt church, but we also have the ability to defeat their army!"
Moore seemed thoughtful: "What do you mean?"
"In a while, the Church's allied forces will be at the gates of Saint Guard City. If we can win this war, we can prove the strength of the Protestant Church to the world. It won't be too late to hold the ceremony then."
After saying this, Todd was silent for a while, then said to the people in front of him, "Your task is to continuously improve the Protestant theory during this period of time, and actively contact bishops and priests who are dissatisfied with the Church."
After talking with the clergy and monks for a while, Todd waved for them to leave.
Facing the empty room, Todd stared blankly at the Umbrella emblem on the wall, saying nothing.
A sudden knock on the door brought him back to reality.
"Come in."
Harkins gently pushed open the door and looked at Todd, saying, "Your Majesty, what would you like for dinner?"
Todd glanced at the setting sun outside the window, then pushed himself up from his chair. "As usual, put the food in the palace gardens, where I will eat."
Huggins was only briefly taken aback by this strange request before nodding and leaving.
Todd walked along the palace's long corridors, admiring the beautiful scenery under the setting sun, and slowly strolled to the pavilion in the palace gardens.
Huggins had already instructed the maids to prepare the table and meal. A group of people stood around the pavilion, quietly waiting for the king to take his seat.
Instead of sitting down at the table, Todd walked to the wooden wall in the garden and looked out at the city's night view through the wood.
"Your Majesty, Your Majesty?"
Huggins called out twice, and when Todd didn't respond, he took two steps closer and said, "Your Majesty, please have your meal first, or the food will get cold."
Todd waved to Huggins, pointed in the direction of the port area, and laughed, "Do you remember? That's where we first set sail. I remember back then, there was only a dilapidated pier there, and our ship was stolen from the pirates of the North Island."
Huggins looked down the mountain as instructed and laughed: "I still remember that night on Waiheke Island, Your Majesty, although you didn't like our cheese soup, you still forced yourself to drink a bowl."
A nostalgic look appeared on Todd's face: "Yes, back then, I didn't know much, but I wanted to do everything. Looking back now, it's really not easy to get to where I am today."
"Your Majesty, do you remember what I said to you before we set sail?"
Which sentence?
"You asked me if I believe in miracles. I said I do, because you, standing in front of me, are a miracle."
Todd was taken aback.
After a moment, he gently closed his eyes and murmured, "A miracle..."
"Are you worried about the upcoming Battle of Holy City?" Huggins straightened up and said firmly, "We will definitely be the victors!"
Todd looked at the other person: "Are you so sure?"
"Although the Church's allied forces have 15,000 soldiers and have gathered nearly 30 kingdoms, our side only has 1,900 men from the Twilight Knights, plus 2,000 garrison troops from the Holy Guard City. It seems like a battle where the enemy and we are vastly unequal, but we have several reasons to win!"
