Todd, still in the seawater, looked at the colossal creature at his feet, which resembled a small mountain, and replied, "Yes, I do have some questions about the soul link..."
Leviathan's body moved slowly, its deep voice filling every corner of the sea: "Follow me."
Todd flapped his dragon wings and followed Leviathan effortlessly, swimming slowly toward the deeper parts of the ocean.
After swimming for a long time, a glimmer of light suddenly appeared on the originally deep and dark seabed.
Using the dragon's vision, Todd looked down at the seabed and, to his surprise, saw a city shimmering with light.
As Todd approached the city, he saw it teeming with humanoid creatures—human-like upper bodies and fish-like lower bodies. These creatures closely resembled the mermaids from his previous life's works; the women were beautiful and graceful, while the men were tall, strong, and powerful. Some of these beings were cultivating seaweed-like crops on the coral reefs, while others were releasing and feeding swarms of transparent, colorful jellyfish. Everyone was busy in this underwater city.
Todd turned his gaze to Leviathan and asked in surprise, "Who are these people...?"
Leviathan did not respond to Todd's question, but instead swam its body, slowly approaching the city.
The mermaids looked up and finally spotted Leviathan. They cheered and jumped for joy as they returned to their homes to retrieve various tools and swam toward the latter.
Thousands of mermaids swam around Leviathan, offering the most enthusiastic greetings to the behemoth.
Some murlocs placed containers filled with fresh food into Leviathan's tentacles; others used their tools to carefully clean Leviathan's body.
Todd, who was following Leviathan, attracted a large number of curious fishmen because of his dragon-like appearance.
Some of the bolder merfolk children even swam up to Todd's wings, touching the shimmering scales and exclaiming in genuine admiration.
Leviathan did not stop, but continued to swim forward silently.
However, Todd, who was following behind him, could sense a deep...sorrow emanating from this silent behemoth.
The enthusiastic fishmen followed Leviathan for a long time, until they were far away from the city, before they stopped swimming.
Todd looked back at the large group of murlocs behind him. Everyone was watching Leviathan leave, and many were still shouting excitedly.
Leviathan and Todd swam for a while longer, until finally they could no longer see the group of fishmen.
Filled with doubt, the latter asked the former, "Now can you tell me what's going on?"
Leviathan's voice was low and sorrowful: "These merfolk you see are all wandering souls."
Upon hearing this, Todd was startled and quickly asked, "Wait a minute! You mean, your soul space is inhabited by a large number of souls?"
“Scáthach should have told you that the so-called soul is a form of dark matter. Due to death or other reasons, once the soul leaves the physical body, it exists in the world as free dark energy. However, this energy is very unstable. Under the influence of phenomena such as particles, force fields, or waves, it loses its original structure and becomes a more discrete form.” Leviathan paused for a moment, then continued, “This situation is what you commonly referred to as ‘soul scattering’ in your previous life.”
Todd sighed: "So, you used the Soul Space as a container to protect these souls that could dissipate at any moment. But I don't understand, how did you do that?"
Leviathan replied, “Dark matter is the starting point for creating a universe. In chaos, the condensation of dark matter forms a singularity. Under the influence of dark energy, this singularity will undergo a creative explosion, forming a brand new dimensional universe. A soul composed of dark matter can completely simulate the result of the dark energy singularity explosion and ultimately form a new dimensional space.”
“If the soul is not strong enough, this newly formed space will collapse completely in a very short time; but if the soul is strong enough, it will form a stable space that can be developed and inhabited.”
Todd asked doubtfully, "Then how did these souls get into this space?"
Leviathan said, "It's very simple. The answer is still the Soul Link ability. Originally, the souls of each living being are like different frequency bands, and they will never intersect. But Soul Link can adjust the structure of the dark energy of the linked being and incorporate it into the user's soul space."
At this point, Todd suddenly remembered that there really was such a thing.
Boyle's soul once resided in his soul space for a period of time, but eventually dissipated due to the exhaustion of its energy.
“Compared to the souls of the dead, you can also use soul links to forcibly strip the souls of the living and imprison them in your own soul space. But this requires much stronger soul power and will also bring a series of unstable factors.” Leviathan continued, “The dumbest and most direct way to establish a soul link with a living organism is through a direct physical connection… such as inserting a part of your own body directly into the subject’s nervous system.”
"But in fact, there is a much simpler and more effective method, which is the 'Seed of the Soul'."
"Seed of the Soul?"
“Separate a small portion of dark matter from your body and plant it into a living organism or object, like a seed. After that, all organisms that come into contact with the planted object will automatically establish a soul link with you and transmit their consciousness into your soul space.”
