Todd raised his head, his dark golden dragon eyes coldly gazing at the warrior before him.
“I know… who you are…” Cú Chulainn plunged his crimson spear into the earth, looked at the black dragon before him, and said with a smile, “The Holy King of Twilight, the Father’s favorite, has now become a monster, standing before me!”
Unperturbed by the other's words, Todd stared into the other's eyes and said, word by word, "Now, you and I will return to the Shadow Kingdom."
Cú Chulainn cracked his neck, the sound of his joints snapping open, and said defiantly, "What if I refuse?"
"Listen carefully to what I just said, that wasn't asking for your opinion!"
Todd stretched out his dragon claws and reached forward to grab Cú Chulainn's body.
Cú Chulainn gripped the handle of his spear with both hands, performed a side somersault in mid-air to dodge the dragon's claws, and jumped back a few steps.
Todd lay prone on the ground, lowered his center of gravity, protected his relatively soft abdomen, and pushed off the ground with his hind legs, charging forward again.
Cú Chulainn, unable to dodge in time, plunged his spear into the ground, using the recoil to leap into the air, avoiding the dragon's impact, and then jumped onto Todd's back.
“Your movements are as slow as an old man’s,” Cú Chulainn said with a laugh. “I can even give you a handicap with one hand…”
Before he could finish speaking, the sound of wind breaking behind him made Cú Chulainn turn around in surprise.
The dragon's tail, as hard as steel yet as flexible as a whip, struck Cú Chulainn with lightning speed.
Like a kite with a broken string, Cú Chulainn was sent flying into the air and crashed heavily to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.
Instead of giving chase, Todd said again, "Come back to the Shadowlands with me!"
Cú Chulainn gripped his spear with both hands, staggered to his feet, and shouted at Todd, "Shut up!"
"This land beneath your feet is where I was born and raised! It is my homeland!" Cú Chulainn roared with all his might, "You who have abandoned your human identity and used the power of a demigod to invade other countries have no right to tell me what to do!"
Todd was stunned and stood still.
"In my memory, the Kingdom of Ulster was once a rich and peaceful country. Here, I had good friends and a beautiful and kind fiancée... Now, my friends have died in the war, and my fiancée has been taken by the enemy!"
Listening to Cú Chulainn's accusations, Todd said in a deep voice, "The Ulsters live a life of wealth and peace, but have you ever thought about the southern barbarians under your rule? Are they destined to be slaves? Destined to become skeletons beneath the 'Wailing Road'?!"
Cú Chulainn shook his head with amusement, as if he had heard the most interesting argument in the world: "You're right, this is war. There's no reason for the struggle between kingdoms, only the entanglement of interests. Froststone City or Connaught, you are both obstacles on Ulster's path forward, and there is no other way but to destroy you."
The flesh beneath his skin began to twist and deform incessantly, and Cú Chulainn let out a heart-wrenching scream. His body began to mutate rapidly, his human characteristics slowly disappearing, eventually transforming him into a hideous giant werewolf.
Todd sighed and tried one last time to persuade him: "Cú Chulainn, your master Scáthach asked me to take you back. Do you really want to disobey her?"
Cú Chulainn, transformed into a giant wolf, held a crimson spear and said haltingly, "I... the hero of Ulster... for this country... to destroy all enemies..."
Todd shook his head; he knew perfectly well that the negotiations had officially broken down.
Spreading its wings and standing upright, the black dragon let out a deafening roar, spewing a fireball from its mouth towards the giant wolf.
Cú Chulainn held the spear in his mouth, used all four limbs, and leaped across the ground to avoid the fireball attack.
Upon landing, Cú Chulainn quickly gathered strength in his limbs and attacked Todd's side like an arrow released from a bow.
Todd, who was prepared, flapped his dragon wings and lifted his body off the ground, beginning to fly into the air.
As the black dragon soared higher and higher, Cú Chulainn took the crimson spear from his mouth, placed it in his right hand, and assumed a javelin-throwing stance, concentrating all his strength into his arm.
The crimson spear in Cú Chulainn's hands seemed like a divine weapon constantly absorbing essence, its color growing ever more vibrant and its red light ever more dazzling.
As the red light surged to its maximum, the giant wolf let out a howl, and the spear in its hand, like a bullet fired from a barrel, transformed into a straight red beam, flying directly towards the black dragon in mid-air.
Todd, who was constantly watching the situation below, saw the incoming spear and quickly adjusted his flight angle. But to his surprise, the flying weapon drew an arc in the air and flew towards him at high speed as if it had eyes.
Todd saw the red light getting closer and closer, his pupils contracted, and he had no time to change his flight trajectory. He could only rely on instinct to dodge at the last moment when the spear was close.
The crimson spear missed his body but pierced his dragon wing.
An angry dragon roar echoed across the sky. Todd looked at the wound on the dragon's wing. The 'Regeneration' ability had no effect whatsoever. The wound, like burlap smeared by raging fire, gradually spread and grew larger and larger.
Even with his best efforts to flap his other dragon wing, Todd still lost his balance and stumbled and fell to the ground.
Seeing that his attack had succeeded, Cú Chulainn was overjoyed and lowered his body, using all four limbs to run quickly towards the direction where Todd had landed.
As Todd plummeted toward the ground, he knocked down several tall trees and landed in a large thicket.
