Chapter 539 Modularization of Alien Weapons

Sitting in the carriage, feeling the bumps of the road, Todd glanced at Wayne, who was holding the documents, and asked, "You said you've solved the biggest problem with alien weapons, what exactly are you referring to?"

Wayne scratched his head and said, "Your Majesty, regarding the combat results of the first alien warship, we summarized some drawbacks. The first and most critical problem is that during combat, the dragon bone parasites would drain a large amount of nutrients from the host, thereby causing serious damage to the host."

Todd nodded: "Dragonbone parasites get all their nutrients from the host. If it were just the size of a dragonbone armor, it wouldn't be a big deal... but a warship that is tens of meters long, its turning, stopping, repairing, propulsion and other actions all require a lot of nutrients to be extracted. This is a disaster for the host that is parasitized."

“That’s right. The human body is too weak to provide enough nutrition for large alien weapons. I have conducted experiments repeatedly. A strong adult male, under normal nutrition conditions, can only support the alien warship for 45 minutes of combat consumption. Moreover, the alien warship we have now is only about 20 meters long. In terms of tonnage, it can only be considered a fishing boat at best.”

Hearing this, Todd frowned. He clearly understood that the "experiments" Wayne mentioned were death experiments conducted on death row inmates and prisoners of war. Some of the humans arrested during the rebellion three years ago had their death records falsified and were being used by this veterinarian in extremely inhumane ways as expendable subjects for the testing and development of alien weapons.

“Initially, regarding the issue of energy consumption for alien weapons, I designed a large bio-energy chamber on the alien warship.” Wayne gestured with his hands to form a rectangle: “A special cabin was designed, containing a large number of biological culture tanks. Humans in a deep sleep were placed in the culture tanks, and then the mouthparts of the dragon bone parasite were inserted into their bodies. In this way, these people became the energy source for the alien weapons, providing them with a continuous supply of energy.”

Wayne stroked his chin, as if discussing a trivial matter: "During peacetime, the internal circulatory systems of these humanoid energy beings are perfectly capable of meeting the daily needs of the alien weapons; during wartime, the Dragonbone Parasites, due to their heightened activity, consume more energy, causing these humanoid energy beings to be excessively drained of nutrients, eventually turning into unusable mummies. When the war ends, the alien warships dock for resupply, clean out all these mummies, and then re-inject new human bodies."

Ignoring Todd's increasingly dark expression, Wayne continued, "I was initially quite optimistic about this method, but after practical application, I discovered a problem... Using humans as bioenergy is far too costly, making it impossible to mass-produce alien weapons."

“I made a hypothesis: if we were to build a 137-meter-long alien destroyer, in order to sustain maximum consumption during wartime, we would have to carry at least 87 human energy beings of standard physical condition. Moreover, this group of energy beings could only last for a maximum of three hours.”

"At this rate of consumption, a small-scale naval battle would require draining the nutrients from the bodies of seven hundred adults. In the long run, even the largest country would not be able to sustain such consumption."

Todd coughed heavily, his face grim, and said in a deep voice, "Experiments that use humans as energy sources for alien weapons are now strictly prohibited!"

Immersed in his experiments with alien species, Wayne completely missed the oddity in Todd's words. The former continued excitedly, "As hosts, humans are inherently unsuitable for carrying alien weapons. Their bodies simply cannot satisfy the appetite of the Dragonbone Parasite. So… I've set my sights on the Crusaders…"

Upon hearing Wayne's words, Todd's eyes widened in anger, his entire body began to grow rapidly, fine dragon scales grew on his skin, flame marks appeared at the corners of his mouth, and a pair of dragon wings burst out from his clothes.

As Todd's body expanded, the entire carriage instantly exploded into a pile of scrap metal.

"You bastard! You used those Crusader followers for alien experiments?!" Todd, transformed into a dragon, glared at the human before him and roared, "Who gave you the right?! Who gave you the audacity?!"

Seeing the ever-growing dragon before him, Wayne Dunlop instantly understood the other's anger and hurriedly shouted, "Your Majesty, it's not what you think! I didn't use the Crusaders as energy sources for alien weapons, and I've already abandoned the bio-energy pod plan..."

Hearing Wayne's self-defense, Todd stopped his transformation, his dark golden dragon eyes fixed on Wayne, and growled, "Continue!"

"Although the physical condition of the Crusaders is far superior to that of humans, using them as energy sources for alien weapons still cannot meet the needs of large-scale weapons!"

Wayne hurriedly pulled a piece of paper from the scattered documents and placed it in front of Todd, saying urgently, "Through the Soul Totem, I went to the library of the Heavenly Research Institute and found a solution for the energy supply of alien weapons there."

Todd looked down at the drawing on the paper, which depicted an exploded view of a warship.

Wayne then said loudly, "What should we do if a large alien warship consumes too much energy and has too high a cost of operation? It's simple, just divide the warship into countless modules that can be freely assembled."

Todd was taken aback: "Module?"
