Chapter 556 What I Saw and Heard in the City (Part 1)

After exchanging a few more words with Ackerman and Minnie about race relations, Todd asked them to leave first, then sat alone on the sofa, staring blankly at the still-smoldering cigarette butt.

What unpredictable situations might arise when an organism carrying the Tyrant Virus interbreeds with a human?

The answer to this question is what he is most worried about right now.

On one hand, this could trigger racial conflict within the kingdom; on the other hand, it's because of Aurora...

The thought of his innocent and lively daughter, and the potential instability caused by reproductive isolation within her, kept Todd from finding peace of mind.

Just as he was feeling uneasy, the voice of the attendant came from the doorway again.

"Your Majesty, I apologize for disturbing you. Princess Aurora requests an audience."

Todd was taken aback, and instinctively said, "Let her in."

Then, as if remembering something, he quickly called out to the door, "Wait a minute!"

Todd opened all the windows, waved his arms, and a gust of wind rose from the room, expelling all the lingering tobacco fumes outside. Only then did he say, "Come in."

Before the guards could fully open the door, Aurora, with her elegant princess-style hair updo, rushed into the room on both feet and threw herself into Todd's arms.

Aurora grabbed Todd's clothes, frowned, sniffed them again and again, and whispered, "There's a strange smell."

Todd smiled, pulled his daughter in front of him, squatted down, and asked, "At this time, you should be with your teacher doing your homework."

Aurora puffed out her chest and said proudly, "I've finished all my homework for today."

Todd asked in surprise, "All done? It's not even noon yet, how did you do it?"

"It's a secret."

"Tell me, and in exchange, I can take you out of the palace for a tour."

After tilting her head and thinking for a moment, Aurora shrugged: "Deal."

"The amount of homework assigned to me each day is adjusted according to my learning progress. If I grasp the material taught today quickly, then the amount of content will be increased appropriately tomorrow."

Aurora proudly declared, "So, as long as I pretend the lesson is too difficult in class today, then tomorrow..."

Todd smiled wryly, "So tomorrow, the teacher will reduce the amount of material covered, and you can finish your homework openly and sneak out to play early?"

Aurora nodded smugly, then tugged at Todd's sleeve and shouted, "I've finished! Now it's your turn to keep your promise!"

Todd smiled helplessly and said to the door, "Prepare the carriage."

Aurora raised her hands and cheered loudly.

Fifteen minutes later, an inconspicuous gray carriage drove away from the side gate of the palace and headed towards the city center of Muxi along the mountain path.

Aurora, dressed in ordinary robes, stood on her seat, lifted the curtain of the carriage, and looked out the window with curiosity.

Todd rested his chin on his hand, looking at his daughter with a doting expression.

"Your Majesty...where do we go now...?"

The voices of the guards outside the carriage made Todd frown.

If it were Huggins here, he would know Todd's daily patrol route without even asking.

But now...

"Let's go to the central square."

After saying this, Todd leaned back against the seat cushion, thinking about Huggins' recent situation.

During the internal strife three years ago, Hagins, who was in charge of the security bureau and the chief steward of the palace, was concerned about old friendships and failed to notice the chaos within the kingdom in time. He was also almost deceived by the enemy.

In handling this matter, Todd gave Huggins a long leave of absence, partly to protect his old friend during the later liquidation process, and partly because he realized that Huggins might be a qualified assistant, but he would never be able to take on the responsibilities of a manager.

Therefore, Todd handed over all the work related to the Security Bureau to the Alien Association, while Evie and the Valkyrie were responsible for managing all affairs in the palace.

After that, Huggins wrote several times, vaguely mentioning his desire to return to his post. Todd then issued a transfer order, assigning him to Lone Rock and ordering him to take charge of coordinating the affairs of the kingdom.

"Father, look!"

Aurora turned to Todd, pointed excitedly out the window, and exclaimed, "What's that?!"

Todd did as he was told and looked outside.

Looking into the distance, on a construction site far from the inner city, a huge creature, nearly four meters tall and ten meters long, with ox horns, elephant legs, and a rhinoceros head, is pulling an extra-long cart loaded with stones and timber. Driven by people, it slowly walks towards an unfinished building.

“Those are Thunder War Beasts.” Todd stroked his daughter’s head and said slowly, “They originally lived in the deep underground cave of the Demon Eye in the Ancient City of Gugu. When I passed by there, I brought these big guys out.”

Aurora exclaimed with wide eyes, "They look so tall and big! And they can pull such heavy things!"

"Thunderous War Beasts are enormous, but they are gentle herbivores. In the deep caves, they are extremely rare war beasts that do not actively attack humans."

As Todd recalled, he said, "In the soul link with the underground war beast community, they were the easiest to communicate with compared to the other ferocious war beasts."

"Therefore, among the war beasts transported from the North, they were the first to be tamed and are now used to help the kingdom's people's livelihood, industry, transportation and other fields."

Aurora gazed at the thunderous war beast in the distance, its massive body swaying as it slowly lay down on the ground like an ox, allowing people to pass behind it to unload goods from the carts. She couldn't help but exclaim, "Father, they look so docile. Perhaps I could keep one in the palace?!"
